And the winner of the 2015 Pantone colour of the year award goes to (drumroll please)…. 18-1438 Marsala! A naturally rich and sophisticated hue with earthy red wine undertones, “Marsala enriches our mind, body and soul, exuding confidence and stability,” said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Colour Institute. This beautiful warm colour will be popping up everywhere this year as it can easily translate into fashion, beauty, interiors and all forms of design.
Colour is an integral part of interior design and with the introduction of this rich and warm tone, rooms can be transformed into elegant sanctuaries where you would be proud to entertain guests. Incorporate colour into a space with accent pieces, accessories and paint to instantly lift a room. The earthy nature of Marsala makes it the ideal choice for most room settings. The kitchen and bathroom would benefit from this hearty tone as it would create a luxurious and welcoming atmosphere. Textiles within bedrooms and living rooms in the form of rugs, throw cushions and bedding will make you feel as though you have stepped into a boutique hotel.
As Marsala is such a rich colour it can be easily combined with warm neutrals, such as grey, taupe and cream for a dramatic effect. For a more modern look, team it with ambers and gold or greens, turquoise and blues. Pale blue and Marsala are a particular favourite colour duo of ours here at House of Coco.
