Supporting our favourites home-grown small businesses is more important than ever in the wake of the pandemic. So we have put together three of our favourites.

1. Popcorn Shed gourmet popcorn

Founded by cousins Sam and Laura, this family-owned business transforms humble popcorn into a gourmet snack. And it all comes in pretty packaging. Best of all, the flavours are delicious.

For a sweet tooth, I recommend Cherry Bakewell, Pecan Pie or Butterscotch. However, savoury delights include salt and vinegar and goat’s cheese.

2. Holistic London candles

Jules and Adrian run Holistic London from their studio in Chiswick. Inside, they make naturally healthy candles from soy wax and essential oils.

And wow, their new zero waste collection! It’s zero waste because they re-use glass containers and old wax into lovely candles. Another favourite of mine is the forest candle. Because it brings to mind a Nordic adventure. And if you want to sleep, go for the neroli and chamomile.

3. East London Liquor Company spirits

This brand brings spirit making back to East London for the first time in a century. In other words, they make great 100% British Wheat Vodka, three London Dry gins and whisky.

In addition, you can buy their range of cans which includes pomegranate and vodka seltzer and East London rum and ginger.

Lastly, they do tours of their distillery in the old glue factory at Bow Wharf.
