Flooring is a serious concern at the time of home renovation. It can be a complicated decision to decide which flooring option would be the best for your home. A buyer needs to consider many different factors such as pricing, colors, durability, maintenance, and installation of the new flooring.

Hardwood Flooring:

Hardwood floors are made out of wood from trees. The wood is cut into planks. The planks are processed and smoothed before the installation. Hardwood floors come in many different natural colors and textures.

Hardwood floors are a bit expensive in comparison to the other options. With a professional installation, they can last up to 100 years. Hardwood floors are prone to termites. Do not mop hardwood floors with a dripping wet mop.

Hardwood floors need to be polished every three to four years. If you do not polish it, they can become noisy. Hardwood floors are not prone to dust mites, fleas, or spores. Hardwood floors can have a positive effect on a baby learning to walk.

Laminate Flooring:

Laminate flooring offers a countless variety of looks and textures with stunning finishes. Most of the laminate flooring replicates the look of stone, tile, or natural wood. In comparison to hardwood floors, laminate flooring is significantly resistant to dents, scratches, and extreme temperatures.

Laminate flooring consists of fiberboards polished with melamine resins. Laminate flooring is not fully water-resistant. It may be damaged if there is dripping seepage or in damp and moist conditions. If they get damaged they cannot be sanded down or refurbished to their original look.

Laminate flooring does not damage due to prolonged exposure to the sun. Laminate flooring does not trap dust. Laminate floors are a budget-friendly option. There are a variety of different looks and textures based on how much you spend.

Bamboo Flooring:

Bamboo flooring is similar to hardwood flooring. There are some advantages of bamboo flooring that make it a better option. Bamboo flooring does not need insecticide treatment as it repels pests like bugs and termites.

The compressive strength of bamboo is more than the compressive strength of concrete. The costs of bamboo flooring are not that much when compared to its versatility. Bamboo flooring is extremely weather-resistant. Bamboo flooring does not expand or contract when exposed to moist and arid climates.

Bamboo flooring is extremely durable, but the surface can still be scratched. The solution is to add felt pads to furniture.

Ceramic Tile Flooring:

Ceramic, porcelain, and glass tile flooring is a popular choice. All of these varieties are a durable and long-lasting option for kitchens and bathrooms. A mosaic floor has a breaking strength of 100 to 150 kg/cm2. Ceramic tiles have a breaking strength of 350 to 400 kg/cm2.

Ceramic tiles are resistant to alkalis and acids. Ceramic tiles are completely waterproof. Ceramic tile flooring can be easily cleaned. Ceramic tiles are lightweight, which makes them a cost-effective option.

Ceramic tiles are scratch-proof. Due to being such strong materials, they can be slippery when wet. There are non-skid options, but they are a bit more expensive. Ceramic tiles do not attract bacteria, termites, pests, or dust.

Ceramic tiles are one of the best options for owners who have pets. Ceramic tiles may not be a very practical option in extremely cold climates. On the contrary, they are fireproof and provide good acoustic insulation. You can use heavy-duty cleaners without worrying about damaging the tiles.
