#CocoEats: A Jazzy Evening at Franco’s

It’s a Saturday night and #TeamCoco are making our way to Franco’s in Mayfair for an evening of fine Jazz and even finer Italian cuisine.

Located on Jermyn Street in St.James, Franco’s was one of the first Italian restaurants to open in Mayfair. Once inside, you will immediately see why tis has been a favourite of Mayfair locals for the last 70 years. Because Franco’s is a time capsule to the traditional Italian trattoria, elevated with a luxury flair.

We made our way downstairs to Franco’s intimate Jazz Lounge, which has taken over the basement at Franco’s from May until July. Here, guests are serenaded with some smooth Jazz tunes, from classic American Songbook hits, to sultry bossanova renditions of all of our favourite pop songs. As we tip-tapped our toes along to Amy Winehouse’s ‘Valerie’ and James Taylor’s ‘You’ve Got a Friend’, we also indulged in a delightful three course menu with wine pairings care of Franco’s exceptional sommelier.

We started off with the Octopus carpaccio with fennel, orange & lemon dressing, and the fresh hand-picked crab & avocado. Both exceedingly fresh, and perfect summer starters to kick off the evening. This was followed by Franco’s delectable lobster linguine; a wonderful tomato based pasta that doesn’t scrimp on the lobster too. We ended the evening on a sweet note, with the Sicilian Cannoli and pistachio ice cream — a dessert so wonderfully executed it would make any Italian Nonna proud. The final flourish to an evening of soulful tunes, and lovingly prepared Italian cuisine.

The Franco’s Jazz Lounge Sessions will run from the 25th of May until the 27th of July and will feature Matthew VanKan, S-J Jazz Trio, and Andrew Osbourne. Guests can enjoy a three course many for £50 per head or skip the meal and enjoy some fabulous live music for £15 each. For more information, visit www.francoslondon.com
