Chotto-Matte is bringing the energy of underground Tokyo to the streets of London’s Soho with the best of Japanese and Peruvian cultures – amazing Nikkei cuisine, colourful cocktails, gorgeous waiters and live music – what’s not to love…?!
Spread over 3 floors, Chotto-Matte comprises of 6 distinct areas is a dimly lit playpen, and perfect for a date – with the boy or with your bezzie. Its enormous cocktail lounge features a curved bar cut from lava stone from where Bar Manager Fabiano Latham and his skilled mixologists shake up Nikkei inspired Pisco, Sake & Japanese whisky cocktails – they’re a dream!
The Raw Bar serves an ever-evolving menu of ceviches, tartars, tiraditos, freshly roasted tostaditas topped with fresh sashimi and slow, cold pressed juices, but its the divine cocktails and irresistable a-la-carte menu that the House of Coco girls had our eyes on…!
We wind our way around a spiral, burnt-timber staircase to the upper level which boasts an open Robata grill which serves up Japanese BBQ such as Miso marinated chicken, Grilled Octopus, Spiced fillet of beef and seasonal vegetables straight from grill to plate.
Executive Chef Jordan Sclare has created affordable, evolving a-la-carte menu designed to encourage a relaxed, sharing environment with dishes including Avocado Tempura with smoked purple potato; BBQ Pork Belly nashi pear salsa; Black cod with yellow chilli miso; and a selection of fresh, sustainably sourced sushi.
Chotto Matte offers the complete package – deliciously prepared Nikkei cuisine, creative cocktails, bespoke art, live music & DJ sets, private and corporate events and great design – all wrapped in a high energy, central Soho location – we’ll most certainly be back for more!
