A Weekend In Paris

House of Coco’s fashion writer Grace Hitchen-Hilsley reports on her adventures on a weekend in the French capital.

As soon as my feet touched the ground, I was hit by the dry heat with a cooling breeze; a very warm welcoming to the French capital. With no time to spare, a quick shower and dash of lippy was only necessary for dinner at one the hottest venues in the city, Kong. The restaurant is situated above Kenzo’s head office, in a glass dome with breath taking views over the Seine. Ultramodern décor, courtesy of international interior and architectural designer Phillip Starck with the menu by chef Fumiko Kono. We were served a feast of sashimi, black cod and king prawns as we watched the sun setting over the river. A truly magical experience, and absolute must-go in this cosmopolitan city.

Hotel Le Bristol

This five star hotel in the heart of the fashion, design and art district has been one of the city’s most elegant locations since 1925. Famous for it’s historic architecture, the hotel proves to be a favourite with stars such as Angelina Jolie when visiting the romantic city. Seated in the garden, we sipped champagne enjoying the tranquil atmosphere and even had a cuddle with Le Bristol’s most popular resident, Fa-raon, their Biram cat. Hotel Le Bristol offers the perfect location for early pre-dinner drinks, in an exclusive setting with impeccable service.

Hotel Costes

For lunch on a sunny Saturday afternoon, Hotel Costes is the only place to go. Snuggled amongst the most exclusive stores in Paris, Costes is a den of opulence with dark, romantic corners luxuriously furnished. We sat in the courtyard in the center of the hotel, open skies above with the sun beating down and enjoyed the atmospheric buzz. Indulging in the French culture, we dined on escargot and tuna tartar before taking a stroll down Rue St-Honroe to admire the lavish boutiques.

Miss KO

Another of Phillip Starck’s latest masterpieces, the restaurant is located in the epicenter of the golden triangle and is home to the fictitious character, Miss Ko, a faceless female heroine covered in ink head to toe. Through heavy draped curtains she welcomes you, into an amalgamation of chaotic beauty; colours, textures and music all wrapped up in a vibrant atmosphere. The fusion inspired menu serves an array of Asian cuisine and exotic cocktails. A magical experience in her fantasy world, Miss Ko provides the sexiest Saturday night fever.
