New York is one of those places of limitless possibility, where there’s always an endless list of things to do and experience. As the global focus on health and wellness shows no signs of slowing, I’ve been on a quest to uncover some of New York’s most distinctive and elevated wellness offerings. From cutting-edge recovery treatments to feel-good wellness rituals, here’s a curated selection of five of my favorite health and wellness experiences in New York City.
Top NYC Wellness Revolution Picks:
Elahni
Elahni is a first-of-its-kind, bespoke experience for those looking for something purposefully more intimate. It’s New York City’s first wellness speakeasy and offers guided, transformative sessions between a Finnish sauna and cold plunge. Over the course of an hour, you and three other guests rotate between sauna soaks and ice plunges, sending your body’s blood vessels through rapid cycles of expansion and constriction. Driven by the practices and science of Contrast Therapy – the deliberate alteration between extreme heat and cold to re-pattern how the body handles stress and recovery – Elahni is designed for mindful healing and body restoration, without having to worry about overcrowding.
At the heart of the concept is intentional intimacy and elevated experience. With a maximum of 4 guests per session, this experience allows you to truly prioritize your health and focus on the restorative Finnish practices that embody its ethos. The guided journey culminates in nervous system regulation in the community lounge, where curated adaptogenic tonics and teas are served to complete the recovery experience. The concept is slated to expand across the city by the end of 2026, positioning itself at the forefront of NYC’s wellness revolution.

DanceBody
From New York and Connecticut to the Hamptons and Los Angeles, DanceBody is redefining the traditional workout with an elevated approach that feels just as fun as it is effective. Whether you’re a seasoned fitness enthusiast or just beginning your wellness journey, DanceBody encourages you to step outside your comfort zone and experience movement in an entirely new way with no prior dance experience required. These rhythm-focused classes combine high-energy movement with strength-building exercises designed to boost both physical fitness and inner confidence.
The Sculpt series ranges from Mat, which builds foundational strength through Pilates-inspired movements, focused core and glute activation, and light resistance, to Strength and Power, which incorporates heavier weights, higher intensity, and more advanced training techniques. For those looking to turn up the intensity, the Cardio series offers more dance-forward workouts, including HIIT, Hip Hop, and Full Out, where choreographed combinations and high-energy movement elevate the heart rate while building coordination and stamina.
Being a Pilates girl myself, I opted to try the Sculpt: Mat class at the Tribeca studio. The class felt familiar in its emphasis on controlled, intentional movement, but with a faster pace, elevated heart rate, and dance-inspired sequences that added a new level of intensity. While more approachable than some of DanceBody’s other offerings, it was a fun way to diversify my routine, challenge my body in a new way, and experience movement from a different perspective. With an infectious sense of energy and community, DanceBody is a must-try for anyone looking to expand their fitness routine and discover a new style of exercise. Classes are available across their four cities, as well as online and live.
Inderma Studio
Nestled in a boutique Flatiron studio is an innovative spa sanctuary experience that pushes the boundaries of a traditional skin recovery and rejuvenation treatment. At Inderma Studio, Nichelle utilizes technology for transformation in her specialized facials, each tailored and personalized to your own skin type and needs.
Feeling in desperate need of a refresh, lift, and debloat, I opted to try one of the studio’s most popular facials: The Ultimate. Combining a high-frequency microcurrent and LED therapy, this hour and fifteen-minute facial completely rejuvenated, lifted, and brightened my skin. The CACI Microcurrent stimulates the facial muscles to replicate a facelift effect, while LED Light Therapy stimulates collagen production, and high-frequency technology targets areas of congestion to reduce inflammation.
As someone who has always been cautious about injections and has never had anything done to their face, this facial was an absolute game-changer. My face looked noticeably slimmer and lifted, and my skin appeared much brighter and even-toned. The best part? The results last for weeks. Nichelle has created a truly one-of-a-kind experience that transforms both your face and your skin, delivering results that genuinely speak for themselves – a standout experience in our NYC wellness revolution edit.

Othership
Conceived as a modern, elevated alternative to traditional social gatherings, Othership is an immersive wellness destination and contemporary bathhouse with locations spanning New York City and Toronto. This restorative retreat blends sweaty sauna sessions with invigorating ice-cold plunges. At the same time, an Othership therapist, referred to as a “Guide,” leads guests through immersive storytelling, breathwork, and movement sessions designed to cultivate deeper connection and renewal.
With an extensive lineup of classes to choose from, I opted to experience The Guided Down: Embodied at Othership’s Flatiron location in New York. Beginning in a 185°F sauna, the session integrates aromatic snowballs infused with essential oils and enveloped within the sauna’s steam to enhance breathwork, relaxation, and mindful flow.
During the aromatherapy ritual, Guides gently fan guests with towels, allowing the carefully curated scents to circulate throughout the space and create a deeply restorative sensory experience. This particular class incorporates wooden paddles, which guests use to massage and roll targeted areas of the body under the guidance of their Guide, releasing muscular tension through a practice reminiscent of gua sha while encouraging intentional movement, improved mobility, and gentle stretching.
The experience continues with two-minute rotations in a 32–40°F cold plunge, which feels surprisingly approachable as the Guide coaches guests through focused breathing techniques to embrace the invigorating sensation. Beyond the physical benefits, the session fosters an unexpected sense of intimacy and connection, concluding with a thoughtful Q&A that invites guests to reflect on the emotions, sensations, and personal insights that emerged throughout the experience.
Humming Puppy
Originating in Australia in 2015 and expanding internationally to New York City in April 2018, Humming Puppy is a bespoke yoga studio that reimagines the traditional practice through the transformative power of sound. At the heart of each session is The Hum, a signature soundscape carefully designed to create a deeply immersive environment where vibration and frequency enhance the connection between breathwork, movement, and meditation. This Flatiron-based gem is the perfect destination for both advanced yogis and beginners looking to expand their horizons, deepen their practice, and become more in tune with their body.
With a wide variety of classes thoughtfully tailored for all levels of experience, Humming Puppy truly offers something for everyone. At the core of the experience is an elegantly organized, spacious studio featuring 40 well-spaced Lululemon yoga mats surrounded by faux candlelight, creating an immediate sense of comfort and calm before the class even begins. While the graceful movements and intentional yoga flows remain the focal point of each session, it is the thoughtful details woven throughout the experience that truly set this studio apart.
Upon arrival, guests are welcomed into beautifully designed locker rooms stocked with high-end amenities. Beyond the studio, a serene check-in and relaxation space features expansive windows overlooking 23rd Street, minimalist white interiors, comfortable couches for socialization, and an assortment of teas and beverages designed to enhance mindfulness before and after each class. From its signature 7.83Hz to 40Hz sound frequencies that mimic the vibrations of the Earth and encourage “Gamma” brainwave activity, to its opulent interiors where guests can unwind before and after each session, this one-of-a-kind studio is something that should be on every yogi and wellness enthusiast’s radar.
