From an industry rocked by the recent pandemic, the legendary Asian Curry Awards 2020 and Just Eat will continue championing the very best Asian food in the UK with their accolades for sumptuous creativity and culinary excellence.

Via a ceremony to be broadcast live online from the Grosvenor Hotel, London, on November 30th, 2020, the prizes will be awarded following customer nominations gathered across the year, which will also include two more ceremonies in Edinburgh on December 7th and Manchester December 14th.

Andrew Kenny, Managing Director of Just Eat, said “Just Eat has worked closely with the Asian Catering Federation for a number of years… During an exceptionally challenging year, I’m delighted to celebrate our partnership by helping to recognise those who have worked tirelessly through the last 10 months and continue to do so.”

Organised by the Asian Catering Federation, the awards have become a pinnacle for uniting the Asian food industry in achieving recognition for innovative vision and exceptional food. Categories will cover a range of national cuisines, including Chinese, Bangladeshi, Indian, Thai and Middle Eastern, also including the highly anticipated Chef of The Year, Newcomer and Lifetime Achievement categories.

Industry legend and Curry Club founder, Pat Chapman, a judge at this year’s awards, said “Things have always been tough for the curry restaurant sector with immigration regulations and competition, and the virus has enforced closures (some permanent) and loss of income so this year, more than ever, it is a pleasure to be involved in these uplifting ceremonies.” The 2019 awards were attended by over 1000 guests including London Mayor Sadiq Khan, where a team of judges toured the country to select the winning eateries. Winners for London included Dishoom for Best Casual Dining Restaurant and Benares in Mayfair for the Fine Dining Award.

As Chairman of the Asian Curry Awards, Yawar Khan is keen to uphold the traditions of honouring great food and maintain a strong stance on how recent measures are affecting the hospitality industry; he said “During these difficult times, we need more support from
the government, and the Asian Curry Awards 2020 are a wonderful way to give recognition to hardworking people in the Asian food industry.”
