On arrival, I was welcomed with a lotus to set adrift across the water, which was adorned with a gigantic, glittering silver sun sculpture that scattered radiant reflections seeming to hold the sun itself. Thai tradition is prominently featured throughout this luxury resort in Phuket, and this arrival ritual is a deep part of it. The lotus is given to guests as a symbol of purity, enlightenment and rebirth. As the lotus softly floated, I struck a gong three times, as this is part of the Sukothai tradition believed to bring fortune and wealth.

The tray was overflowing with scrambled eggs, fresh seasonal fruit, delicate pastries, artisanal cheese, fluffy Japanese pancakes, and freshly brewed green tea. Gently drifting and enjoying a delicious morning feast, surrounded by lush greenery and the sun shining down, felt like I had found my calm oasis amongst one of Thailand’s busiest islands.

Every detail is thoughtfully designed for tranquillity, whether you spend mornings by the pool, afternoons relaxing on the daybed, or evenings soaking in the freestanding bath under the glistening sky.

Following a wooden bridge path, with mist curling above, Jivana Spa is hidden among verdant greenery enveloping me immediately in peace. The outdoor spa is built upon layered terraces, dotted with lily pads, trickling water, and complete with a massage pavilion perched above the jungle.
I experienced an aromatherapy massage, starting with a gentle foot rub that gradually eased me into a relaxing full-body session. Every soft movement of the therapist’s hand was soothing and deeply relaxing. By the end, I felt utterly renewed, both physically and mentally.

Tambu was my first stop, and it instantly transported me to India’s Mughal era. Housed in a luxurious rooftop tent, the intricate decor sets the stage for an authentic, immersive dining experience. Framed by candlelights, yellow cushions, terracotta walls, and elephant paintings, while traditional Indian music softly played, to create a captivating scene.
Chef Saurabh’s 7-course tasting menu was a theatrical experience in progressive Indian charcoal cuisine. From street-food-inspired bites like classic samosas and spiced beetroot chops, to the show-stopping Jhal Muri, prepared tableside with smoked avocado snow and crisp puffed rice, each dish was carefully choreographed through India’s regions with a historic story behind it.
My personal favourite, the crab kutcha, was cooked to perfection with curry-spiced crab encased in smoked bread, accompanied by condiments including cucumber and mint yoghurt. The main course offered a medley of signature curries and breads, while dessert concluded with delicate miniature sweets from around the country, including saffron pistachio biscuit and dark chocolate-infused paan.
On the other side of the rooftop sits Sizzle, which offers a completely different yet spectacular experience. Also featured in the Michelin Guide, Sizzle Rooftop specialises in premium seafood and steak, and won Excellence in Grilled Specialities in the Top 25 Restaurants 2024. I sipped refreshing mocktails and enjoyed Black Angus beef cooked with impeccable precision, and finished with a sizzling sorbet that was presented with ice-cold smoke.
