We joined the Broken Clock Vodka team at the Ivy Chelsea Garden along with the Botanical Boys to celebrate the launch of the new British brand of lingering vodka.

We were treated to a night of sights, smells and delicious vodka inspired by traditional Georgian gardens and cookery books. We were all sitting comfortably in the beautifully decorated private dining room at the Ivy Chelsea Garden with colourful prints and floral artwork, perfect for an evening of botanical cocktails and re-connecting with nature.

The story of Broken Clock Vodka started in 1816, when Leon Kuhajewski invented the world’s first astronomical watch. Two hundred years later, a relative of his decided to honour his invention by creating Broken Clock Vodka. After three years of testing and tasting, the recipe was finally complete, taking inspiration from the surrounding English countryside.

The delicious spirit is made in a traditional copper pot still in Cheshire, and is then infused with slow ripened apples from the garden at Shandy Hall in Coxwold, Yorkshire. The result is a particularly smooth spirit with a fruity edge that’s perfect for vodka-based cocktails.

The bespoke cocktails that we sampled during the evening included the below:

Summer Apple Vodka Tonic

  • Broken Clock Vodka
  • 30&40 Double Jus Calvados Liqueur
  • Fever-Tree Mediterranean Tonic

Made In Chelsea Coupe

  • Broken Clock Vodka
  • Lychee juice
  • Rose syrup
  • Lemon juice
  • Egg white

Ivy special Vodka Tonic

  • Broken Clock Vodka
  • Lavender
  • Cucumber
  • Lime
  • Fever-Tree Mediterranean Tonic

Salted Caramel Espresso Martini Coupe

  • Broken Clock Vodka
  • Bepi Tosolini Expre Coffee Liqueur
  • Freshly pulled espresso
  • Salted caramel syrup

The Botanical Boys made the evening interactive as we created our own garden in a terrarium each with their own unique personalities, while sampling their cocktails. We were reconnected with nature, just like we were reconnected with old crumbling country houses and beautiful English gardens fresh in bloom in the story of Broken Clock Vodka.

We each got a bottle to take away with us and to share with friends and family. Each unique bottle has an English rose emblazoned onto it. No garden is complete without a rose and now no cocktail is complete without Broken Clock Vodka.
