Amy Collick is the creative brain behind Charlton Island, a brand that is inspired by the vast cultural pallet of the world. They offer an exclusive collection of handpicked, unique and luxurious homeware brands created by some of the globes most talented designers.

Here, we go behind the brand with Amy to find out more…

When did you launch the brand and what was the reason behind it?
We launched Charlton Island in August 2016, we love luxury and love interiors, we had met some fantastically talented designers and wanted to fuse all this together in one brand, hence the birth of Charlton Island.

Whats your background?
I was a PA for 12 for extremely high net worth individuals who soon became goodfriends, before having my two children, enjoyed being a stay at home mother/housewife for five years taking children to all the local toddler groups, tennis, softplay! Enjoyed Holidays out of term time! Then I was keen to do something different, for myself, working around the children, something I was hugely passionate about.

How many people are involved in the company and what are their roles?
I’m the Director, I work closely with consultants and mainly with long standing contacts where I go for help with such things as marketing, logistics and advice.

If you could start over with the business, would you do anything differently?
I think everyone with their own business’ would agree that they would change things with hindsight but that’s the journey of your own business, you’re always learning, I try and appreciate this rather than let it get me down.

What is the hardest challenge you have faced since you started the company? Underestimating the amount of funding, time, hard-work and probably the hardest thing which is staying positive in the face of adversity, having the strength to keep going and going and going even when things are not going your way!

Tell us one fact about you that people wouldn’t know?
I used to suffer with anxiety, the best way I learnt to deal with it is staying busy and hitting the gym. When starting your own business you have to stay constantly focused, I have little time to let my anxieties creep in.Also when things do go right it’s a massive confidence boost.

2018 is here, where do you plan on taking the brand?
This year is our year, we’ve already been featured in British Vogue for 3 consecutive months, we have launched with the houzz.co.uk online shop, Aviva Stanoff has launched her luxurious 2018 Cushion Collection which we are extremely proud to be part of and promoting on the UK.Our website has had a fantastic make-over by Zoe from Rogue Design in Cheltenham and we are featured in the coming months in some of London’s most prestigious publications, including House of Coco, Mayfair Life, Chelsea & Kensington Life, Hampstead Life, Marylebone Life, St John’s Wood Life, Notting Hill Life, Chiswick Life, Richmond & Barnes Life, Fulham & Putney Life, Battersea & Wandsworth Life, Blackheath, Greenwich & Dulwich Life. We are meeting lots of fantastic new designers who never cease to inspire us.We have made some great relationship with some of the UK’s top interiors bloggers which have kindly featured some of our amazing designers.

To date, what has been the highlight since launching?
Supplying cushions to some very well known celebrities and appearing in British Vogue, working with Aviva Stanoff, I’m constantly blown away with her talent. I am looking forward to many more highlights to come!

Which city do you feel most at home in, London, Paris or New York?
London for sure. The people, so many hidden gems if you know where to find them.

Three beauty products you can’t leave the house without?
My Narciso Rodriguez Perfume, Creme de La Mer & good old Vaseline chapstick!

Style means….?
Confidence, Class & individuality

Best thing about London to you?
Vibrancy and diversity.

If you had to, what piece of clothing from your wardrobe would you wear everyday?
My Holland & Cooper Knightsbridge Blazer in navy. It’s so versatile and looks great with lots of different outfits.

Favourite love song?
Anything by Bryan Ferry, the man oozes kudos.I was brought up listening to Roxy music and Fleetwood Mac and have been lucky enough to see them both live.

Best place for a coffee?
Mum’s house (comes with free advice)

Most memorable piece of advice given to you?
If you think your special you’re probably not.

Guilty pleasure?
Spending time with the girls at The Malvern Spa or spoiling the children with Legoland trips! I guess experiences are what I enjoy.

If you could spent 24 hours in anywhere in the world, where would it be?
Padstow with my huge family! We all go on the beach at sunset for a barbecue! Fresh langoustines and lots of bubbles! Coming home singing in the dark along the toe path is always fun!

In future, how do you plan on expanding the company?
I’ve got big plans for Charlton Island, Aviva Stanoff will be known in the UK as one of the most luxurious cushion designers in the world, and I’m looking forward to taking on more great designers. Exciting times!
