You’ll find it located in the heart of Brussels just steps from the Grand-Place. This interactive museum offers a deep dive into the country’s beer culture, personalised beer recommendations, and an opportunity to sample Belgian beers at a lovely sky bar. Visiting Belgian Beer World was a fun excursion in Brussels, and it gave me more appreciation for how beer is made and the role it plays in Belgian culture.
A Historic Setting with Modern Flair
The museum is located in the historic Bourse stock exchange building. Originally built in 1873, the space has been meticulously restored. Over its history, La Bourse was an important centre for commerce and trade and has served as a central meeting place. The central concourse extends 3 stories tall, and natural light streamed through the archways from every direction. The Bourse’s soaring atrium provide an impressive backdrop for the modern exhibits inside. The location is easy to reach, with nearby metro, tram, and bus stations, as well as several parking options.
An Immersive Journey Through Beer Culture
The museum offers a self-guided tour divided into six thematic zones to help visitors explore the world of Belgian beer – from its origins and its role in Belgian history to the modern brewing processes. The tour keeps you engaged with interactive displays—including hands-on exhibits and video installations in English, French, and Dutch.
Personalised Tasting Experience
I was new to all the varieties of Belgian beer, so I loved the virtual bartender experience. I answered a series of questions about my preferences (e.g., do I prefer chocolate cake or strawberry ice cream), and the “bartender” provides a tailored list of Belgian beers suited to my palate. They served my personalized list printed on a beer coaster, which gave me a very practical souvenir of the experience.
The Skybar: A Toast with a View
The tour wraps up at the Skybar, an expansive rooftop terrace that offers panoramic views of Brussels. Enjoy a stunning view of the Grand-Place, the City Hall tower, and a 360-degree panorama of the Brussels skyline while sampling from the bar. Visitors can choose from an impressive selection of 150 Belgian beers, ranging from lambics and saisons to trappists and dubbels. The first 33cl beer is included with the admission ticket. Sipping a crisp witbier on the sunlit rooftop was a delicious end to an enlightening and fun visit.

If you’re interested in more about the local history, the Bruxella 1238 exhibit in the basement showcases the remains of a former Franciscan monastery and the tomb of Gambrinus, a legendary figure in beer folklore.
