To celebrate International Dog Day on 26 August, several five-star hotels in Beverly Hills, the world’s 5.71 square mile home of luxury, have changed their names in a tail-wagging ode to man’s best friend for International Dog Day.

For one day only, the world-renowned Beverly Hilton has become the ‘The Beverly Howlton’ and The Beverly Wilshire has renamed to ‘The Beverly Wagshire’. Waldorf Astoria will welcome VIPs – Very Important Paws – as ‘Wagdorf Astoria’, while L’Ermitage becomes Fur’mitage and The Peninsula, ‘The Pawninsula’. Finally, AKA Beverly Hills will be known as ‘American Kennel Association Beverly Hills’ for the day. Now that is a celebration that TeamCocopup can certainly approve of!

“Here in Beverly Hills, there’s something for even the most discerning of pups to enjoy, from luxury stays at our ‘pawsome’ hotels, to gourmet sweet treats and spa treatments, the finest of Fido fashion and beautiful green areas for play” said Julie Wagner, CEO of Beverly Hills Conference & Visitors Bureau. “We know how much our residents and visitors alike cherish their pets, and so we’re proud to be one of California’s most dog-friendly havens with a wealth of next level pooch pampering experiences for our guests’ furry friends.”

Alongside the name changes, International Dog Day also marked the launch of the city’s digital ‘Beverly Howls’ guide. The guide offers a curated selection of the very best dogfriendly spots in Beverly Hills and shows paw-rents and their four-legged pals where to find Beverly Hills’s best night’s sleep in the plushest of doggie beds, the top outdoor places for walkies and playtime, plus premium pampering and snack options.

As one of America’s destinations with the most five-star hotels per square mile, Beverly Hills’ city-wide renaming initiative aims to promote the destination’s accessibility for those who just can’t bear to leave their pooch at home, even if they live across the pond. Not to mention, the Beverly Hills Howl Guide – is also the best way for first-time doggy travellers to get the very best of dog-friendly Beverly Hills. So, if you’ve been waiting for a reason to visit LA with your pooch in tow – now’s your chance!
