Beyoncé To Launch Streetwear Collection With Topshop

Queen Bey really is adding another jewel to her crown, with news of her launching a street wear collection for Brit favourite, Topshop. This is no normal celebrity-highstreet collaboration, as Beyoncé is creating a 50/50 joint venture with the high-street retailer called Parkwood Topshop Athletic Ltd. This venture shows she’s in it for the long haul, and hopefully for us means more than a one-off line.

Topshop owner Phillip Green, spoke to WWD about sealing the deal with Beyoncé last Friday, after meeting multiple times with the singer this year. “This is not a collaboration. This is about building a brand and building a business – a separate, proper business, with separate overhead and a separate office.”

The collection will comprise of clothing, footwear and accessories across the fitness, dance and sport spectrum. Green, has talked about recruiting two main designers – one fashion designer, and one specialising in the technical aspects of the sportswear such as stretch of the fabric and sweat wicking.

The brand Parkwood Topshop Athletic Ltd, takes it’s name from Parkwood Entertainment, Queen Bey’s do-it-all company that produced her latest album Beyoncé, as well as the music biopic Cadillac Records (2008) which Beyoncé starred.

Releasing a statement this week, Beyoncé comments ahead of the collections production. “I could not think of a better partner as I continue to grow the Parkwood business. I have always loved Topshop for their fashion credentials and forward thinking. Working with their development team to create and produce a technical and fashion led collection is exciting and I’m looking forward to participating in all aspects of this partnership.”

We at House of Coco, personally can’t wait for the collection to be released in 2015. It is the perfect excuse to achieve a body like Beyoncé’s, wearing her very own clothing line – time to get practising her Bootylicious bum jiggle in the mirror!
