BLACKHOUSE Leeds, better known as Grill on the Square, reopens on Saturday, 29th October after a two-week refurbishment and here at House of Coco we can’t wait to see the new look. As one of our fave restaurants in the city (we particularly love their live music nights) we are intrigued to see how they can improve on what was already a winning hot spot! Roll on next when we will be dining at the chefs table and sampling all that will be on offer.
The new menu will focus on a return to its roots. Steak and Seafood will lead, and with the introduction of the ‘Book of Beef’ – an in-house guide on everything you need to know about beef – the steak selection firmly sits as its best yet. Classic cuts are mixed with a more premium selection including English Galician, Wagyu and of course the Big Boy cuts the restaurant is famous for. It is the introduction of ‘The Butchers Block’ – Himalayan rock salt aged beef, cut & weighed at your table – which will undoubtedly be the new talking point.
Extra emphasis on great quality seafood features in the new menu, with seared sashimi tuna and whole baked seabass fillets featured, while the menu maintains its lobster options.
The interior of the venue has also seen a refresh, retaining many of the core features of the restaurant, while an extension – with a brand new, all-weather conservatory – has been built overlooking the newly revamped bond court, increasing restaurant covers by over 20.
Blackhouse MD, Scott Grimbleby, said:
We are really excited about the refresh and new menu in Leeds. It’s the biggest change we have seen for a number of years in Blackhouse and part of a bigger plan to refresh the brand and return it to its position as the ‘old favourite’ – somewhere our guests can hunker down, chat freely, feel comfortable and really enjoy the great food, drink and atmosphere that we are so well known for.
