A positively warm smorgasbord of joyful and upbeat sounds, the ever-fantastic Bombay Bicycle Club are back on the road and landed front and centre at one of Dorset’s top live music venues Poole Lighthouse.
This was a vibrant night of live music where every member of the Bombay Bicycle Club band all had the opportunity to shine. The rapturous crowd were dancing throughout, but also enjoyed quiet moments of reflection during the two acoustic numbers.
The indie-pop icons performed a career-spanning full of hits from their impressive back catalogue as well as tracks from their most recent album, the highly eclectic ‘My Big Day’ which saw the band collaborate with the likes of Chaka Khan and Damon Albarn.

From the effervescent ‘Eat, Sleep, Wake (Nothing but You)’ to ‘Evening/Morning’ from their impressive debut ‘I Had the Blues But I Shook Them Loose’, the band set the stage alight with their intoxicating melodies, well-crafted lyrics and their general joie de vivre made for a fantastic nights music.

‘My Big Day’, an expansive and intelligent body of work sees the band instil a sense of nostalgia to their earlier work fused with some heady experimentation. The band returned from a five-year hiatus with 2020’s ‘Everything Else Has Gone Wrong’ to great critical acclaim. It was great to see how the tracks effortlessly were woven in alongside older fan favourites.
‘Always Like This’ was a steadfast standout as was ‘Tekken 2’, ‘ Meditate’ ‘My Big Day’ and ‘I Wanna Be Your Only Pet’, the Bombay Bicycle Club are one of the most intriguing and diverse music acts in the UK. Serving up an eclectic mix of genres, encompassing indie rock, pop jazz and more, Bombay Bicycle Club really have something to offer everyone and this was an awe-inspiring set that really had the feel-good factor.
