Our sleep has a huge impact on our wellbeing. Lack of sleep can leave us mentally and physically drained and a chronic lack of it puts you at greater risk of obesity and developing health conditions, such as diabetes and heart disease. Since the loss of my dad last year, I have had an up and down relationship with sleep, so when The Langham, London invited me down to road test their new sleep wellness package I packed my suitcase quicker than you can say goodnight.

One in three of us struggle with their sleep which is why Langham Hospitality Group has developed a comprehensive global sleep wellness programme in conjunction with the World Sleep Society. The new Sleep Matters programme focuses on the holistic benefits of sleep providing solutions from white noise sleep machines to wellness rituals and bedtime advice to help you get a good night’s rest.

The Langham, London is super stylish and situated within walking distance of Oxford Circus. This impressive property is perfect for a luxury five-star, city break. Inside the vibe is glamorous and opulent. As soon as you enter the grand lobby you are faced with huge dramatic chandeliers and marble columns. Beautiful flower arrangements adorn the lobby and after a swift check in I am shown up to my suite.

The Suite at The Langham, London

My suite is like a sleep haven and kitted out with a selection of goodies to help ensure I get the best night’s sleep. The décor inside is contemporary and clean, there’s lots of natural light and it’s spacious. In the corner of my room is the Mirror screen by ZENi, a virtual personal trainer that offers 10,000 classes on demand with a workout to suit you. Studies show that a light workout consisting of stretching and meditative moves like yoga help to improve sleep quality. There’s an OTO sleep pack full of CBD products and expert tips on how to get more healthy sleep.

If you are booked in a suite or Executive Room you get access to The Langham Club, an exclusive, residents-only sanctuary where you can enjoy complimentary drinks and cocktails with a selection of Hors d’oeuvres, charcuterie and cheese platters.

I was booked into Chuan Wellness Spa for a full body Harmony massage, designed to stimulate meridian harmony. This unique mind, body and soul experience uses the therapeutic elements of acupressure with various relaxation massage techniques to induce a deep sense of calm. It successfully hits the spot as I drift off to sleep just 15 minutes in. The therapist gently wakes me with an Elemental tea to compliment my treatment. The delicious combination of rose petal, hibiscus, and pepper is to help enhance my fire element. I float out of the spa and ditch exploring the West End in favour of a relaxing afternoon in my suite.

After an aperitif in The Langham Club, I head to Palm Court for dinner. Cream leather booths, ceiling to floor wall art and a plethora of chandelier and glass lighting gives the place a dazzling, Art-Deco feel. The service is slick and attentive. Dining at Palm Court is both relaxed and sophisticated. The menu is inspired by the grand cafés of Europe and uses the finest seasonal and local ingredients. I opted for a succulent steak served with greens, it was delicious. I decided to have desert back in my room so I could make the most of the sleep package.

Guests have access to a Sleep Matters Menu, which allows you to order a selection of wellness-related items during your stay, including a yoga mat and fitness ball for pre-sleep stretching; weighted blankets, a selection of pillow options and white noise sleep machines and in selected locations, Chuan elemental oils and lavender bath products for a restful soak before bedtime.

When I return to my room, I’m greeted with a chill out playlist, specially curated to help me relax. My Sleep Matters Turndown Kit includes herbal tea, branded ear plugs, pillow spray, cushioned sleep mask and Sleep Tips Cards courtesy of World Sleep Society.

After spraying my pillow and drinking my herbal tea I settled into my bed for the night. So did I get a good night’s kip? I drifted off quickly and woke up once during the night however, I managed to get straight back to sleep which I don’t often do.

The Sleep Matters package is available at global outposts of the The Langham. You can book The Langham, London Sleep Matters, Refresh and Renew Package from £800 per night for a double occupancy room. This includes:

  • Luxury accommodation

Hotel d’Inghilterra has always been the hotel of choice for Rome’s movers and shakers as well as Hollywood stars for the past 160 years. The beautiful building has a history that dates back to the sixteenth century and was originally the guest quarters for visitors to the palazzo directly across the cobbled street, belonging to the noble Torlonia family. Hotel d’Inghilterra takes its name from the poet John Keats who, together with Lord Byron and Shelley, made it their top destination when visiting the city on their grand tours.

Aristocrats and celebrities alike have entered through the soaring grand doors, paused in the breathtaking lobby and dined in the suave bar and restaurant. From Hans Christian Andersen to Henry James, Mark Twain, Ernest Hemingway, Elizabeth Taylor and Gregory Peck. If walls could talk. Nestled in the historic quarter in the centre of Italy’s capital, just a stone’s throw from the Spanish Steps, the property has been a stalwart for Roman society and is a timeless luxury hotel in the Eternal City.

84 rooms and suites are each seeped with their own style, identity and charm and each offer 24-hour room service. The decor is elegantly put together with antique furnishings and contemporary finishes, creating the perfect synergy of majestic meets modern. For an additional dose of decadence, book one of the Executive or Penthouse Suites, renowned for being some of the most iconic hotel rooms in Rome. The Executive Suite boasts a luxury furnished dining room, a lavish bathtub and sauna, two bathrooms in total, an ultra-comfortable pillow menu, sitting area, kitchenette, dressing room and a French balcony offering soaring views over the rust-coloured ornate Roman roofs. The exquisite Penthouse Suite offers an enormous private terrace with views over the city, the ideal spot for a private dinner or sunset cocktail. When dust descends, Hotel d’Inghilterra also offers a panoramic rooftop overlooking the city.

The best way to get tips and tricks for the day ahead is to eavesdrop on conversations at Café Romano where sensational breakfasts and steaming coffees are served up on monochrome tables that spill out onto the street. Discerning guests who know Rome like the back of their hands discuss those under the radar historic monuments, authentic espresso bars in Trastevere and off the beaten track restaurants peddling the best pasta in Lazio. Café Romano also serves dinner and is filled with epicureans seeking delicious Mediterranean cuisine as well as a selection of local delicacies.

The restaurant is perfectly positioned for watching the lively Via Borgognona and admiring elegant Romans sauntering past on their way to an Aperitivo hour in the afternoon. For additional expert information into the best sites, restaurants and shopping spots in the city, the hotel’s multi-lingual concierge team are on hand to fulfill every wish.

With a major renovation in 2022 but with its soul remaining intact, a new wave of guests will experience the beautiful hotel for the first time with a new look, as well as devoted visitors who venture back to Rome and stay at Hotel d’Inghilterra, time after time.

Superior Rooms at Hotel d’Inghilterra Roma are priced from Euro 326 per room per night on a bed and breakfast basis. www.starhotelscollezione.com

Nestled in a nook off Colmore Row in the centre of Birmingham is the resplendent and historic Grand Hotel. Seeped in old school glamour this iconic Grade II listed building has been given a new lease of life. Originally built in 1879, the hotel has hosted glitterati and heads of state. In its heyday guests included King George VI, Charlie Chaplin, Malcom X and Winston Churchill. By 2002 it had lost its sparkle and closed its doors. Step in Robert Angell International, who for the past 18 years have been working behind the scenes to deliver a £50 million restoration and refurbishment. 45,000 man hours later and the results are astonishing. The Grand Birmingham is the city’s jewel in the crown.

The hotel has retained a mix of French Renaissance, Victorian and Art Deco features, while successfully juxtaposing modern artwork and design features. The magnificent grand staircase sweeps through the centre of the building while fabulous chandeliers and mosaic tiles add to the style and character.

The service is friendly, upon arrival I’m greeted by front of house and reception staff who show me to my room and give me the low down on the facilities. The team are passionate and knowledgeable about the hotel and its history.

Bedrooms are light and airy, styled in muted cream, brown and black with views overlooking St Phillips Cathedral. The vintage phone and mirrored headboard add a retro splash to what essentially feels like a contemporary space.

Madeleine is perfect for cocktails and pre-dinner drinks. Dark panelling flanks the walls, large arched windows and twinkly bauble chandeliers add to the intimate atmosphere. Soft, velvet sofas and chairs are scattered around the bar area. Punches of ruby red, pastel pink and navy accents give it a luxurious chic vibe. Across one side of the room is a full-length bar, serving small plates and an extensive choice of cocktails. I tried the Madeleine Martini, a raspberry and pineapple alternative to the classic. It comes with what looks like a bubble bath topping and is totally Instagramable.

Downstairs is basement brasserie, Isaacs, the hotel’s New York style eatery. Green and white tiled walls surround leather diner style booths and tables. There’s a buzzing atmosphere as guests tuck into classic American dishes. The menu features fresh seafood, steaks and Stateside staples like ribs, hot dogs, cod and grits. Breakfast is served here and there’s an extensive choice of buffet options, eggs or for the hungrier a full English.

The secret garden courtyard on the ground floor is a hidden gem. Cute fairy lights and climber plants give it a roof top bar feel and I can tell that this area will be a big hit with guests in the summer.

The hotel is in the heart of the city, just a short walk from New Street Station and the Bullring shopping centre making it a great base for anyone looking to explore the UK’s second city. Host of this summer’s Commonwealth Games and home to some fabulous bars and restaurants, Birmingham and The Grand are well worth a visit.

Rooms start at £129 per night, visit The Grand Birmingham

There is something about Cambridge that instantly makes you fall in love. Maybe it’s the punters, drifting along on the River Cam, maybe it’s the allure of the city’s cobblestoned streets, or even the hallowed halls of the numerous famous universities that call it home. Whatever it is – TeamCocopup certainly felt the love during our dog-friendly visit to the Graduate Hotel Cambridge – which takes all these elements and turns them into a truly unique hotel stay.

Part of the wonderfully quirky Graduate Hotels Group, Graduate Hotel Cambridge is an idyllic retreat located on The River Cam that was inspired by this university town’s rich traditions. Academic influences are rife, with plenty of handsome leatherbound books occupying the shelves a hanging double-helix centrepiece, and 100 year-old punting boats hung gleefully on the walls.

Colourful college crests adorn the main desk in the lobby which is manned by the lovely hotel staff. Beyond that is the Garden Bar, a striking wraparound bar, with leather barstools and cosy booths and plenty of charm. There is a broad range of cocktails and bar snacks on offer here, plus a vast array of specialty beers. It is also dog friendly – and perfect for well-behaved pooches like TeamCocopup.

We stayed in one of the hotel’s Graduate Riverview King rooms with a balcony. Overlooking the River Cam, the rooms offered all the creature comforts – with plenty of vibrant design details. An Indian-inspired headboard is matched with a bright green armchair, with punter-inspired shelving and checked curtains. The mish-mash of colour, texture, and print works very well here – and envelope you in a comfy and quirky atmosphere.

The Garden House, the hotel’s main restaurant, boasts a delectable seasonal menu that celebrates the best of East Anglian cookery. Helmed by Executive Adam Wood, this open grill kitchen is a cacophony of aromas as soon as you enter. For starters, we sampled the grilled cockles, which offered just the right kick. This was followed by the delicious, glazed beef short rib with brussels and celeriac, and impossibly-tender grilled Herdwick lamb, salsify and quince. Paired with a bottle of the restaurant’s gorgeous Argentinian Malbec and you would be hard-pressed to find a better spot for a romantic Valentine’s Day meal.

This fabulously dog friendly hotel is perfectly situated in the town’s historic centre, within walking distance to all the tourist sites, local pubs and colourful shops.

We recommend visiting Cambridge Wine Merchants for its diverse range of wines and spirits – or better yet book in for a tasting. The Old Bike Shop is an excellent, dog friendly spot for lunch and the Cambridge Botanical Garden is also another lovely dog friendly day out.

You can’t go to Cambridge and not go punting and Scudamore’s station on Granta Pi is right next to the hotel. Here you can see the Mathematical Bridge, the Bridge of Sighs and all of Cambridge’s most idyllic sites.

There is no better way to end the day than at The Graduate’s own garden, which is situated right on the River Cam. Charlie loved sitting in the freshly cut grass, while we enjoyed a nice pot of tea watching the punters slowly drift by, as they have done for hundreds of years. The Graduate is truly an idyllic retreat on the River Cam – and the ideal location for a Valentine’s Day staycation that’s more than a bit extraordinary.

As Spain has eased entry requirements for UK children and teenagers aged between 12 and 17, travel experts HolidayPirates are excited to share five reasons to visit beautiful Valencia this spring.

Valencia, Spain’s third-largest city, is on the beach, is a design-forward hub and is beautifully melded to its Mediterranean roots, making it perfect for a short city break or as a base for exploring the coastal plains and striking mountainous areas of the Valencian region. It is also blessed with a good year-round climate and is the birthplace of paella.

1. World Design Capital of 2022

Valencia is the eighth city to have been designated World Design Capital and proudly holds the accolade in 2022, which brings with it a full year of cultural events and exhibitions. The city has spent several decades building its reputation as a creative hub and visitors can enjoy the work of architects, interior designers, illustrators and graphic design across the city.

Impressive urban infrastructures coexist harmoniously with the natural and built environment and the city has become a leading example of design in public policy to effect social change. Visit the Turia Gardens, the Central Market, the City of Arts and Sciences to see some of the most striking examples of Valencia’s unique take on its Mediterranean heritage.

The city has also been chosen by the EU to be 2022’s co-capital of smart tourism for its work on sustainability, inclusivity and its respect for its citizens and cultural heritage.

2. Voted the best city to live in

According to Expat City Ranking 2020, Valencia has been named the best city to live in the entire world by expatriates of more than five different nationalities. With 320 sunny days a year, many beautiful beaches to choose from and plenty of leisure options, it truly deserves this nomination. The city is bike-friendly and provides the option to tour around on bikes, which helps with fitness. In addition, the city has amazing and diverse gastronomy offering that will please even the pickiest tastebuds.

3. Do not miss Las Fallas which returns in March

Valencia’s highly anticipated Las Fallas festival will be back in the streets this March. The festival, which always takes place in March, due to the pandemic last year, was shortened and celebrated in September, however it is coming back bigger and louder. The festival, which dates to the 18th century was inscribed in the UNESCO Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2016 and takes place in March. Each year residents make hundreds of colourful puppet-like sculptures from wooden, cardboard, or papier-mâché known as ninots, which are burned in a massive bonfire while the city’s sky is filled with fireworks. The festival which combines Valencia’s tradition, satire and art is a must-see once in a lifetime event.

4. Sustainable, high-end gastronomy and the birthplace of paella

As the birthplace of paella, and a centre of excellence when it comes to showcasing local produce, visitors need to sample the city’s most famous and international dish. Valencian chefs banded together a few years ago to create Wikipaella, to police paella around the world. Valencian-made paella will either be made with rice and vegetables and animalprotein such as chickenor rabbit, OR, the seafood version is made with fresh produce from the Mediterranean. Visitors will not be short of high-end dining options either. Locally-sourced produce, served locally with flair makes Valencia a foodie paradise. The Michelin Guide for 2022 gave three new stars to restaurants in the city, which join four others.

5. The year of Berlanga – the great chronicler of Spanish society

Valencia is in the midst of celebrating the 100th anniversary of the birth of Luis García Berlanga, in the city. Heralded as Spain’s greatest ever film director – Berlanga was an irritant to fascist dictator Francisco Franco and his regime – when many others in the artistic community fled the country.

His legacy includes the films The Executioner (1963), a comedy of manners satirising capital punishment; Plácido (1962), a black comedy mocking false piety, based on real events where a small town’s grandee’s each adopt a poor person for Christmas eve and Welcome, Mister Marshall! (1953), which lampooned Spanish hopes for a slice of US money to rebuild Europe after WW2. They are films which are useful insights into Spain’s tumultuous 20th century. Visitors can join a guided tour which outlines how Valencia influenced his filmmaking, and takes in locations from Berlanga’s childhood, the historic district and his personal relationship with the world of the Fallas Festival.

The beauty of the pastoral landscapes is reflected in the rich colour palettes, patterns and textures in the hotel. The pet-friendly hotel also allows travellers to take their furry companion with them on their trip for an extra £20 per night.

The guest rooms use an abundance of “Cambridge Blue”, with wallpaper replicating school gates, punting boats on either side of the bed, whimsical lamp shades in the shape of a penny coin and striking wood and leather desks to give a studious library atmosphere. So, you can get the Ivy league experience even if you have never set foot on those hallowed halls.

Our intrepid doggy reporter TeamCocopup Charlie and doting dog mum Hannah spent the first few days of 2022 at the beautiful Wharton Lodge Cottages, an idyllic visit which has refreshed and invigorated our favourite doggy duo for the new year.

Located near the Forest of Dean and surrounded by the picturesque natural landscapes of the Wye Valley, Wharton Lodge Cottages is the kind of place that postcards are made of.

Just three miles from the charming market town of Ross-on-Wye and a fifteen minute drive away from the wondrous Forest of Dean, Wharton Lodge is the perfect retreat for those looking for a relaxing winter getaway. Wharton Lodge Cottages is part of the Premier Cottages portfolio.

Finding Wharton Lodge is a piece of cake as the property boasts its own online visitor’s guide that will give you everything you need from ‘What Three Words’ directions to dog friendly places to visit. It will even recommend a few charming dog friendly pubs and restaurants.

The three luxury, dog friendly cottages are quintessential country-chic. Grosvenor, Harewood and Elgar are run by the lovely Nicky and George Cross, who live in a handsome building on-site and will welcome you to your designated cottage with a smile. The three cottages ooze with warmth and familiar comforts, elegant without being too stuffy and are a true home from home in Ross-on-Wye.

We stayed in the beautiful Grosvenor Cottage, which comfortably sleeps three and boasts plenty of room to relax and unwind. Grosvenor boasts a generously-sized master suite and an extra single bedroom, perfect for small families. Downstairs, there is an elegant lounge complete with log burner, flatscreen TV and bluetooth speakers too.

The fully-equipped kitchen also comes with a lovely welcome hamper full of breakfast essentials and of course all the necessary tools to make a perfect cuppa. Breakfast can be enjoyed in the outdoor courtyard or in the kitchen, both offering their own lovely countryside views. Grosvenor is one of two dog friendly cottages on-site and comes with its own private walled courtyard garden, which is perfect for late night doggy business.

Plenty of places claim to be dog friendly, but with Nicky and George parents to three darling Labradors of their own, Wharton Lodge Cottages surely takes the dog friendliness up a notch. Wharton Lodge boasts its own beautifully maintained walled garden and glasshouse. The property is surrounded by 13 acres of parkland, perfect for pooches like Charlie with a little bit too much energy. A ball-throw and hose are also conveniently located at the field entrance, while a dog waste bin is located in the outhouse. Small details — sure, but all important touches that any dog owner would appreciate.

Wharton Lodge serves as a perfect base to explore the nearby sites. There is plenty to see in the nearby Golden Valley, Brecon Beacons, Malvern Hills and the Cotswolds. The historical cathedral cities of Gloucester, Hereford and Worcester are also within driving distance. For a lovely meal, visit The Moody Cow or the Hostelries – which each offer an elevated take on pub classics.

Forest of Dean offers plenty of stunning circular walks, and for adventure-seekers there is also mountain biking and even a Go Ape acropark. Beyond the Forest, there are also several National Trust Houses to visit that will take your breath away.

Since our visit was set during the new year holiday period, we unfortunately missed out on a few activities in Ross-on-Wye. However, thanks to the hospitality of Nicky and George and the truly fabulous, cosy and effortlessly luxurious cottages at Wharton Lodge – our visit was certainly an unforgettable one.

Wharton Lodge is part of the Premier Cottages portfolio. Unlike many of the very large holiday rental websites, Premier Cottages does not add a booking fee to the price of its holidays. This means guests can save 15% or more by booking with Premier as their prices are “all inclusive” with no hidden charges, cleaning fees or service costs. In peak holiday periods this can result in savings of hundreds of pounds. With Premier you book direct with the cottage owner rather than through a central reservations number and all properties have been inspected and rated 4* or 5* by the national tourist board.

Magical Venice is high on most people’s bucket list of places to visit. We were lucky enough to have visited recently and stayed in the finest hotel on the island, Gritti Palace. Original plans were to experience this luxury establishment for one night, where countless celebrities, politicians, and sportsmen have stayed. However, we pushed the budget out to stay there for the whole trip, as this is one hotel where every pound you pay is worth spending with the effortless luxury they offer.

This Palace has been home to nobility since the 15th century and has been a luxury hotel since 1895. Normally I find pictures of famous people on establishment walls quite distasteful but this is one exception to the norm. The breadth of guests across the worlds of politics and celebrity is testimony to the enduring popularity of the hotel. Where else would you find Margaret Thatcher and Angelina Jolie on the same walls?

Their suites are inspired by the likes of Ernest Hemingway, Somerset Maugham, and John Ruskin. We stayed at their Sestiere 1 Bedroom suite with a sumptuous King-sized bed. The ornate 19th-century style of the room is certainly beguiling. Wherever you look, there is captivating decor from the stunning Murano glass chandelier to the exquisite archival fabrics designed by Rubelli Group. Their fully-marbled bathroom is particularly spacious and you are supplied with luxury Acqua di Parma bathroom toiletries. We enjoyed very peaceful views of the small ‘Rio delle Ostreghe’ side canal. If you upgrade to the higher category suites like Patron, Royal, and Redentore, you will have views of the grand canal, with the latter suite having its own plunge pool.

Dining at their Club del Doge restaurant is a must, even if it’s simply to admire the most magnificent restaurant view in town, especially if you are on their grand canal-facing terrace in the shadow of the majestic Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute. Our breakfast buffet was a royal feast with a cold buffet available including the finest charcuterie board and hot dishes á la carte. If you have a spare half-a-day at least, make sure you check out The Gritti Epicurean School to pick up some cookery tips from their chefs. The cookery school has been running without fail since 1975.

Whether you are looking for an apéritif or digestif, Bar Longhi is the place to be with its elegant and sophisticated décor. Their freshly made bellinis are widely reputed to be the best in Venice and that’s quite the compliment considering the iconic Harry’s Bar is just around the corner. When we visited, peaches were not in season, so they weren’t offering the cocktail. Instead, I opted for a smooth-tasting Rossini cocktail. The bar is decorated with marvellous paintings belonging to the school of the renowned 18th-century Venetian artist Pietro Longhi. There is also the stunning Murano glassware to admire along with the polychromatic marble. On our next visit, we’ll also have to try their indulgent afternoon tea selection.

Spa facilities are immaculate as you would expect from a 5-star establishment. Treatments and products are all from the famous Sisley Paris brand. However, if you prefer to be out and about, you can book a private Riva speedboat and explore the picturesque Venetian lagoon. The area in which the hotel is based is also a short walk to numerous luxury boutique shops, so you won’t be short of options on the activity front.

One thing to note, maybe it was the time of year I was visiting, I did see a lot of flooding throughout the city when the tide was high. Venice isn’t a city you should put off visiting on your bucket list. And if you do decide to visit, make sure you are staying at the very best: Gritti Palace Hotel.

While it seems like all the months of 2021 have blurred into one, we’re dreaming of a time when we can once again visit all the beautiful destinations this planet has to offer. To (virtually) satiate your wanderlust, Team Coco has put together some of the world’s most exciting new hotel openings to inspire your next holiday… whenever that may be.

Committed to preserving its heritage, Passalacquawill showcase original features, including hidden passageways, centuries-old beamed suites in forgotten stables, and glasshouses with ancient fruit trees. Guests can enjoy the lakeside swimming pool and open-air gym set in the olive groves, vintage boat trips from the private dock, and partake in a variety of wellness and culinary experiences in the manicured gardens such as spa treatments, yoga sessions, farm-to-fork dining, and movies under the stars.

The Fullerton Ocean Park Hotel Hong Kong (Hong Kong)

Located in Hong Kong’s cool Southside district, which is home to the iconic Victoria Harbour and the city’s renowned Ocean Park, the eco-conscious oceanfront resort is the next much-anticipated international launch from The Fullerton Hotels and Resorts.

The luxury hotel – perfect for couples, friends, solo visitors, extended families, and business travellers – will offer 425 guest rooms and suites overlooking the South China Sea, including children-themed rooms and two signature suites with private pools. It will also offer four diverse restaurants, an outdoor infinity pool and kids’ lagoon pool, an indoor kids’ play zone, a luxury spa and fitness centre, and versatile indoor and outdoor meeting and event spaces, including a 5,600 square-feet pillar-free grand ballroom. Will this be Hong Kong’s most exciting new sustainable hotel – we certainly think so.

sly Berlin (Berlin, Germany)

Located in the city’s trendy Friedrichshain neighborhood, Berlin’s coolest new hotel will be housed across four modernised buildings, interconnected via inviting open courtyard spaces and a striking 2,368 square-foot greenhouse.

With 150 contemporary guestrooms and suites, some boasting private balconies, sly Berlin’s interiors will showcase a fusion of nature and urban culture, featuring solid oak wood, Italian serpentine stone, stainless steel, and Brutalist concrete touches. A lively restaurant and bar, complete with open kitchen and grill area, will be housed in the natural light of the greenhouse amid an abundance of greenery. The perfect place to enjoy an (almost alfresco) meal at the German capital.

Sommerro (Oslo, Norway)

The reincarnation of a restored 1930s landmark in Frogner, a historic neighbourhood in Oslo’s West End, Sommerro celebrates Norwegian design, fusing form and function as the city’s first hotel in an original Art Deco building.

The hotel is set to be Norway’s largest-ever preservation project, the hotel occupies the former headquarters of the capital city’s electrical company, Oslo Lysverker. Folowing a multi-million-dollar renovation, Somerro will become a modern tribute to local cultural heritage. Art buffs will enjoy the original artworks by celebrated Norwegian artist Per Krohg which will be featured throughout the hotel, with pieces including a giant wall fresco and a ceiling mural that nods to the building’s unique history.

A true community space, the 231-room property – which counts 56 residences – will also offer four restaurants, three bars, meeting and event spaces with capacity for up to 150 people, a 200-seat gilded theatre, a sprawling wellness paradise, and the city’s first year-round rooftop pool, sauna, terrace, and restaurant. There is surely no more stylish place to stay in Oslo than this.
