Pets are susceptible to a variety of health conditions, just like people. Many of these conditions are caused by genetics, while others are the result of the environment or lifestyle. Unfortunately, some pets are born with pre-existing conditions, which can make them more prone to health problems as they age. There are many different pre-existing conditions that can affect pets. Some of the most common include heart conditions, diabetes, arthritis, and cancer. Keep reading to learn more about these and other conditions and why you should shop for the best pet insurance pre existing conditions options.

Heart Conditions

When it comes to our pets, we want to do everything we can to ensure they live long, happy lives. This means taking into account any health conditions they may have and ensuring we provide them with the best possible care. One factor to consider when it comes to our pets’ health is pre-existing heart conditions. Pets can suffer from various heart conditions, just like humans, and it’s important to be aware of the signs and symptoms so that you can seek veterinary care as soon as possible.

Common heart conditions in pets include heartworm disease, dilated cardiomyopathy, and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Each of these conditions has specific symptoms that pet owners should be on the lookout for. For example, heartworm disease is a condition that affects the heart and lungs of dogs. The most common sign of heartworm disease is coughing, which can be mistaken for a simple respiratory infection. Other symptoms of heartworm disease include difficulty breathing, lethargy, and weight loss. If you suspect your pet may be suffering from a heart condition, it is important to seek veterinary care as soon as possible. Early diagnosis and treatment of heart conditions are critical for ensuring your pet has the best possible prognosis.

Cancer

Pre-existing cancer in pets is a relatively common occurrence, and while it can be a frightening thing to deal with, it is important to remember that there are many treatment options available to pet owners. In this article, we will discuss the different types of pre-existing cancer, as well as the various treatment options available.

One of the most common types of pre-existing cancer is lymphoma. Lymphoma is a type of cancer that affects the lymph nodes, and it can occur in pets of any age. Symptoms of lymphoma may include swollen lymph nodes, weight loss, and lethargy. Treatment for lymphoma may include chemotherapy, radiation therapy, or surgery. Another common type of pre-existing cancer is bone cancer. Bone cancer can occur in any breed of dog but is most common in larger breeds. Symptoms of bone cancer may include lameness, swelling, and pain. Treatment for bone cancer may include surgery, chemotherapy, or radiation therapy. Finally, it is important to note that not all cases of pre-existing cancer are treatable. In some cases, the cancer has progressed too far, and the pet may not be able to be saved. If this is the case, it is important to work with your veterinarian to decide when is the best time to say goodbye.

Arthritis

Pre-existing arthritis in pets is a common condition that can be managed with proper care. Pets with arthritis often experience pain and inflammation in their joints, which can make it difficult for them to move around and do normal activities. There are several treatments that can help manage this condition in pets, including medications, supplements, and lifestyle modifications.

If your pet is diagnosed with arthritis, it is important to work with your veterinarian to create a treatment plan that will help improve their quality of life. The veterinarian will likely start by prescribing medications to help reduce inflammation and pain. There are several different types of medications that can be used, so it is important to find one that is effective and well-tolerated by your pet.

Diabetes

Pre-existing diabetes mellitus (DM) is a common metabolic disorder in cats and dogs. DM is a chronic disorder that results when the body does not produce enough insulin or when the body cannot use the insulin it produces effectively to control blood sugar levels. Glucose is the main source of energy for the body’s cells and is obtained from food. When glucose levels in the blood are too high, the body’s cells cannot use the glucose effectively. This can lead to the development of diabetes mellitus. There are several signs that may indicate that your pet has diabetes mellitus. These include increased thirst and urination, weight loss, poor coat condition, and excessive hunger. Pets with diabetes mellitus also tend to have a fruity odor on their breath. If you notice any of these signs in your pet, it is important to have them evaluated by a veterinarian.

Overall, pre-existing conditions are important to consider when purchasing pet insurance because they can increase the cost of care. Some of the most common pre-existing conditions for pets are diabetes, arthritis, and heart disease. Altogether, these conditions account for more than 60% of all pet insurance claims.

Every man and his dog has a dog these days, pardon the pun. More and more places are becoming dog friendly too so it means that you can take your four-legged bestie with you everywhere that you go. Thanks to Dogily, you can do that in style too.

Dogily is the fashionable brand for dog mums and their fur babies to prove that twinning really is winning. We spent some time with their founder, Alex Mak, to find out more…

Tell us about the journey that lead you to launch your brand, Dogily

I started keeping my first ever Corgi 2 years ago, and as a dog-mum and a fashion-conscious shopper, this idea of matching outfits caught my attention and I tried looking for matching accessories online. However, I saw a sea of pet accessories in the market but they are either too cute to match with my daily outfit or their price is going over my budget. Nothing in between. That’s when I realized that there aren’t many options for reasonably-priced quality pet accessories which fits my fashion taste… So one day while talking with my team, we decided to create our own brand to serve fashionable dog-mums like me!

You believe that pets deserve to dress well. Why was this important to you?

As a fashion-loving dog mum, it came naturally to me. I like how intimate and proud it feels when my dog is dressing well with me.

An Interview with Dogily

How do you want dogs to feel when they wear your products?

I want them to feel extra loved whenever they wear Dogily’s pieces, especially when they are twinning with their owner. Our dog-and-me outfits showcase the unique loving bond between owner and dog. It is a way to spoil your furry babies and make them feel loved and cherished. Making them feel physically comfortable is important as well. Dogs know when the clothes are rough and uncomfortable. That’s why we solely pick the best materials that they will absolutely enjoy wearing all day long.

Looking back since launching the brand, is there anything you would do differently?

I would probably do more research on what material to use for our products. We’ve chosen really the highest quality materials to work on, making the pricing hard to compete with other brands. Product price is one of the most crucial factors for our customers to buy from a new start up brand. So more people can try our products more easily.

How often do you launch a new product and what’s the process behind it?

We launch new collections irregularly depending on the market demand. We always LOVE to hear feedback from our customers and followers and only want the BEST for them. Before launching, we spend time studying the market, and researching the needs of most dog parents and their pups. Then we invest time to come up with the design and start manufacturing making sure every step is up to the best standard. We won’t disappoint our customers.

For anyone interested in launching a dog-friendly brand, what advice would you offer them?

For those who’re interested in launching dog-friendly brands, they better be pet owners themselves because then they know which suits their dogs and themselves.

Talk us through an average day in your life…

My current day is about work, eating, and being with my dog. It’s such a pleasure to see and play with my cute and crazy corgi girl. My life is filled with so much joy after her joining our family.

What do you do when you are lacking creativity?

I would take some rest and go to the creativity hub or other places to get some ideas to help.

How much has social media played a role in the success of your brand?

Social media is an inevitable part of our lives now and we see the profound impact it has brought to our business so far. Word of mouth plays an important role on our business. Quality is hard to express in words, instead, we let the product speak for themselves. We encourage customers to share their experience on social media and the result is incredible. It’s lovely to see that many of them have shared a cute picture twinning with their fur baby and in this way we can react and interact with them more easily. We utilize social media as a bridge to link us with our customers and of course, potential customers. Our brand is not simply selling products, but spreading the joy of friendship to the utmost.

Dogily

What is your go-to quote when lacking motivation?

I would watch some movies or YouTube videos. I would naturally get the motivation from the characters or the speech.

Our readers love to travel, what destination is on your must-visit list?

For House of Coco readers, I would recommend Hong Kong, where we are based in at the moment! For western readers, Asia is so much different and a lot of wonders you can find during your travel here. You will be amazed by the Asian vibe and culture.

What does self-care mean to you?

Self care means that we take good care of ourselves and live a good life. Because we only live once! Do what you desire because life is too short for hesitations!

Where do you see the brand in the next 5 years?

We would love to see that in the foreseeable future, Dogily will become the dreamland of pet owners where they effortlessly find great quality stuff for their pets. Whenever they have to shop for their pets, Dogily would be the first brand that pops up in their minds.

Where can people find out more?

Our roving doggy rePAWter TeamCocopup and doting dog mum Hannah Tan-Gillies went for an idyllic weekend getaway with Coppa Club at The Swan Streatley, for a taste of life by the river.

Located in what probably is the most picturesque riverside location on the Thames, The Swan Streatley (operated by Coppa Club) is an homage the beauty of the Great British countryside.

The Swan, hotel, gym, yoga, gardens, river, gardens

In quiet yet charming Streatley, The Swan is the heart of the community and the centre of its vibrant social scene. There is the country house hotel of course, which offers different rooms that would suit all sorts of travellers. From the compact yet cosy Loft room, to the generously-sized dog-friendly rooms that open the hotel’s beautiful grounds.

The grounds themselves are a sight to behold. In the summer, they come to life – becoming a hub for families, home workers or boating enthusiasts who moor there for the afternoon. Charlie was allowed in every space at the hotel and was greeted with a dog bed, dog bowl, dog treats and a dog towel too. Not to mention our room opened out directly to the lawn, perfect for night-time doggy business. The Swan at Streatley gets five stars for dog friendliness and the TeamCocopup seal of approval.

The Swan at Streatly, hotel, gym, restaurant, gardens, River Thames

The main attraction at The Swan at Streatley is or course, the Coppa Club. A sprawling restaurant which smartly occupies both indoor and outdoor spaces, The Coppa Club seems to be at the epicentre of community life in Streatley. This gorgeous restaurant offers multiple vibes for all-day dining. From a sleek den, cosy nooks, spacious lounges, a vast garden and a breath-taking deck – there’s something for all kinds of diners here.

The Coppa Club Menu serves up a selection of time and tested British bistro classics with a twist. For starters, we especially enjoyed the garlic king prawns on toast and the Buttermilk Fried Chicken (which came with chili mayo and crunchy slaw). For mains – the British Flash Steak with chimichurri certainly doesn’t disappoint; and the Roasted Halibut Fillet, made with the day’s fresh catch, was equally delicious.

For cocktails — we liked the Garden Spritz which was exactly the kind of refreshing summer drink to enjoy during the day and night. The wine menu is concise yet filled with some excellent and reasonably-priced choices too, with our favourite being the delicious rosé from Tropezian winery Chateau Minuty. Thoughtful, unfussy yet undeniably delicious – we know for a fact that a good meal will be had at Coppa Club, no matter if you’re visiting for breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Beyond great food and superb cocktails, there’s plenty to see and do at The Swan Streatley. Home to one of the most impressive gyms I have ever seen in a country house hotel, The Gym at The Swan is filled with the latest equipment and offers fun classes that include paddle-boarding, wild swimming, running clinics, outdoor yoga, stretching, meditation and so much more.

The Swan, hotel, gym, yoga, gardens, river, gardens

You wouldn’t be the first to think that The Swan at Streatley would make a great wedding or anniversary party venue, which is why it is so apt that the hotel has a specific area for meeting rooms and event spaces. Here, food is prepared by Coppa Club while guests stay at The Swan – an idyllic combo of excellent grub and stylish rooms in the heart of the Berkshires.

Between the sun-soaked gardens, warm and inviting hotel and fabulous restaurant — there’s plenty to fall in love with at The Swan at Streatley, a dreamy and beautiful riverside getaway. If you are exploring other riverside locations like Henley and Sonning – don’t forget to visit Coppa Club Henley and The Great House at Sonning too, sister properties of The Swan at Streatley.

Our roving doggy rePAWter TeamCocopup and doting dog mum Hannah Tan-Gillies went for an idyllic weekend getaway with Coppa Club at The Great House at Sonning, for a taste of life by the river.

Much like its sister properties, The Swan at Streatley and Coppa Club Henley, The Great House Sonning was the vibrant, bustling centre of life in the quiet riverside town of Sonning.

Every time we visited The Coppa Club Restaurant, whether it was breakfast, lunch or dinner, it was absolutely buzzing with life and filled with both locals and tourists alike (and their pets!) It is evident that when a place has that perfect combo of good food, excellent service and a dreamy location – that the people will come…and stay a while.

And who wouldn’t? The Coppa Club at The Great House Sonning has a gorgeous riverside location that looks like it could have been lifted from a landscape by John Constable. Adding allure to the outdoor setting are Coppa Club’s signature domes, which are accented here with perfectly curated flowers and wicker chairs . The domes are the perfect Instagrammable moment for any guest at Coppa Club.

We recommend having breakfast on the terrace where you can watch the swans and ducks swimming along in the distance. Coppa Club’s Full English is impeccable, but the avocado on sourdough with Scottish salmon is equally impressive.

For a light lunch – we recommend the San Daniele Prosciutto Salad which had the perfect blend of crunch, savoury and sweet. This generous salad is made with ith D.O.P Prosciutto, rocket arugula, radicchio, apple parmesan and walnuts.

For dinner – an excellent vegan alternative is the Spice Roasted Cauliflower which comes with steamed rice, pomegranate and a hefty serving of tahini sauce. This dish puts the humble cauliflower on the spotlight and to sparkling effect, easily one of our favourite dishes on the menu.

We recommend going beyond Coppa Club and take advantage of The Great House’s beautiful riverside location. In addition to being a dog friendly hotel, the location itself is ideal for long riverside walks (and swims) with your pooches. Charlie certainly enjoyed strolling along the river and saying an enthusiastic hello to the people on houseboats moored on the banks of the Thames.

With 49 rooms, spread between the Main House, Clock Tower, Palace Yard and Coach House, The Great House at Sonning brings a contemporary flair to countryside living. The rooms are awash in a vibrant orange and duck egg blue colour palette, complete with Smeg fridges and shabby chic dark wood accents.

We stayed in the Coach House and Charlie was greeted with a dog bed, dog treats and a dog bowl. While the Coach House did have a small outdoor space for doggy business, there weren’t really any easily-accessible grassy areas from the hotel rooms for dogs to do their business at the Coppa Club, which is the only nit-pick from our otherwise wonderful stay.

In fact, all 49 rooms were booked during our stay. A testament to the popularity of The Great House and to the quality of hospitality on offer here. After our two day sojourn to the world of The Great House, which since its opening in 2016 has become a well-loved hub for the Sonning community, we too have fallen in love with life by the river.

Our roving doggy rePAWter TeamCocopup and doting dog mum Hannah Tan-Gillies have checked into The Bradley Hare for a relaxing weekend getaway in Southwest Wiltshire.

The Bradley Hare, located in the quiet yet charming village of Maiden Bradley, gives you the familiar feeling of a traditional village pub but with a twist. Forget your preconceived notions about traditional country inns because The Bradley Hare is that and so much more.

Located in the wildly picturesque grounds of the Duke of Somerset’s estate, The Bradley Hare benefits from and is inspired by the gorgeous pastoral landscapes that surround it. The rooms, which are warmed by roaring fires in the winter months, have been designed by James Thurstan Waterworth, ex-European Design Director of Soho House.

While boasting some handsome 18th and 19th-century furnishings, each of the 12 individually-designed bedrooms exude a muted yet contemporary vibe, elevating the rural chic interiors. Picture glorious free-standing baths, Egyptian cotton sheets, Siberian goose down duvets and a colourful array of contemporary artwork – that is exactly the aesthetic at The Bradley Hare.

We stayed in one of the five generously-sized dog friendly bedrooms in the Coach House. Opposite the pub and with plenty of space to roam, these gorgeous farmhouse style rooms are the perfect place to relax and unwind amidst the sounds and scenery of the great British countryside.

Guests who are staying at The Bradley Hare can expect a complimentary continental breakfast, which exceeded our expectations of continental meals. While hot breakfasts incurred an additional charge, the continental, which offered delicious homemade granola, pain au chocolate, ham, fresh juices, coffees and freshly-baked sourdough with homemade jams and yoghurts will soon make you forget about the lack of a full English.

We were lucky enough to visit during a sun-soaked weekend and so our lunch was enjoyed in The Bradley Hare’s garden. Here, both locals and tourists come together to enjoy delicious food and great company. Inside, the pub’s bar area is dog friendly – perfect for well-behaved dogs like TeamCocopup. The Bradley Hare boasts an ever-changing seasonal menu that makes good use of the fresh and local ingredients to reimagine pub classics. The Bradley Hare is a champion of zero-waste and tries to minimise food waste as much as possible.

This is best exemplified by the ‘Crumbled Pig’s Head’ which is a delicious appetiser made with the offcuts of a pig – ensuring that the whole pig is used. The Pork Belly with anchovy sauce is crispy, tender with the anchovy sauce offering a surprising yet delightful twist to the pub classic. We also liked the cod roe with asparagus and chervil sauce, and the Hake with artichoke heart. All this is paired with a fabulously eclectic wine list and cocktail list. The Bradley Hare was also very accommodating of our dietary requirements, making it a suitable place for those suffering from food allergies and intolerances.

If, during your visit, you only have time to do one thing in Maiden Bradley, then definitely spend the day at Stourhead. This gorgeous National Trust property is just a seven minute drive away from The Bradley Hare and boasts 2,500 acres of unspoilt countryside and breath-taking gardens. There are Palladian structures that add majesty to this place, shady pathways and even a hidden grotto. The gardens are dog-friendly, offering the perfect day out for families and four-legged friends.

Back at The Bradley Hare and run a relaxing bath in your room. It is the best way to recharge after a day of exploring. Between the tranquil interiors, excellent service and even better pub food – there’s plenty to love at The Bradley Hare. We shall surely be returning for another relaxing and magical weekend in Maiden Bradley’s best kept secret.

It’s no secret that dogs have a very different digestive system to humans. This means that, unfortunately, they can’t always dine on the same meals. However, their same diet of kibble can get boring. You want to treat your furry friend to something special, but you still want it to be healthy and nutritious.

While the list of foods humans can munch on is long, the list of healthy and safe foods for dogs is much shorter. Thankfully, there are several common ingredients that you probably already have that your dog will love while supporting a healthy pup.

Take a look at this list of the top recommended treats for a nutritious and yummy snack that you won’t have to go far to find.

1. Peanut Butter

Let’s start with peanut butter, as this is an important one to get right due to some types being unsafe for dogs. Unsalted peanut butter with no sweeteners or added sugar in moderation is the perfect tasty treat. Many dog treats contain peanut butter because it contains many elements that are beneficial to canines. This includes protein, healthy fats, niacin, and vitamins E and B.

However, you must know what kind of peanut butter dogs can eat. Check the label for a sweetener called xylitol. If a peanut butter jar says it contains this element, do not give it to your dog, as it is highly toxic for them. If you suspect your dog has ingested this sweetener from some peanut butter, you must call a veterinarian immediately. There may be severe reactions within the next 12 to 24 hours, and your vet needs to act swiftly.

2. Carrots

Carrots are healthy for dogs for multiple reasons. They’re also a great source of vitamin A, which is important for your pup’s immune system and nourishes its coat and skin. However, it goes beyond nutrition. Carrots also remove plaque from their teeth and promote good dental health as dogs chew.

3. Apples

Want to give your dog a boost in the necessary vitamins A and C? Grab some apples from your grocery store and give a couple to your pup. In addition to providing them with these essential vitamins, apples are also an excellent source of fiber, which is integral to regulating your dog’s digestion.

Just make sure the apples you feed to your pup are fresh, as rotting apples can lead to alcohol poisoning in canines.

4. Fish

Did you cook up some salmon, tuna, or shrimp and now have some leftovers? It’s safe to feed them to your dog, as fish is an excellent source of protein for them.

Both tuna and salmon are also incredibly rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which are important for maintaining your dog’s immune system and keeping its coat and skin healthy. Shrimp is high in vitamin B, which also helps regulate the immune system and promote healthy blood circulation.

Remember when preparing this dish for your dog to cook the fish thoroughly. If not properly cooked, it could infect your dog with harmful parasites.

5. Chicken

If your dog is feeling under the weather or has an upset stomach, you can feed it plain, boiled chicken that doesn’t have any seasoning. This is because it’s filled with all the protein, minerals, and vitamins your dog’s diet needs, and it’s gentle enough to give them when they’re not well.

Provide Your Pooch With a Healthy, Balanced Diet

So, now you’re aware of some of the best foods for your pup, you’ll be able to provide it with a tasty, balanced diet. From regulating its digestive system to keeping its coat and fur healthy, you’ll have one happy dog on your hands!

It can be challenging to own a dog despite knowing that you will have another beloved family member inside the household. Dogs require a lot of attention, time, and energy. They also need plenty of exercises, which means regular walks or runs. Plus, they need regular grooming. All of this can be time-consuming and expensive.

Dog Nutrition and Health

Owning a dog is a big responsibility. It would help if you made sure pets get plenty of exercises, but you also need to make sure they eat the right food and get the proper vaccinations.

Fur parents need to understand dog nutrition and health. It includes knowing what types of food are healthy for their breed and what vaccinations are necessary. Puppies require a series of vaccinations to protect them from common diseases. Failure to vaccinate can lead to serious health problems for your pup.

It’s also important to keep an eye on your dog’s weight. Obesity can be just as dangerous for dogs as it is for humans. Make sure you provide your dog with the right food to stay healthy and happy.

Toy Poodles and Golden Retrievers are two very different breeds of dogs, and their nutritional needs are not the same. Toy Poodles need a diet low in fat and calories, while Golden Retrievers need a diet high in protein and fat. Toy Poodles also need more carbohydrates than Golden Retrievers.

Toy Poodles are prone to obesity, so it is vital to feed them a diet that is low in fat and calories. A diet high in protein and fat can lead to weight gain in Golden Retrievers. Carbohydrates are essential for Toy Poodles because they help provide energy for their small body size.

Golden Retrievers need a diet high in protein and fat because they are active dogs who burn many calories. A diet high in carbohydrates can cause weight gain in these dogs.

Dog Exercise

Dogs need daily exercise, regardless of their age or breed. Training is essential for maintaining a dog’s physical and mental health. A lack of exercise can lead to obesity, joint problems, and behavioral issues.

The best way to ensure your dog gets enough exercise is to make it part of your daily routine. Take them for walks, runs, or hikes. Dogs also love to play fetch and catch, so consider investing in some toys that will help them stay active.

Besides breed and size, exercise should also vary for dogs according to their age. Pitbull puppies will require light training when compared to their older counterparts. Still, all dogs will need at least 30 minutes of exercise every day.

Puppies up to four months old need two short walks a day. Each walk should be around 20 minutes long.

Adult dogs need at least one hour of exercise every day. It can be broken into several shorter sessions or one longer walk or run.

Senior dogs may not have the same energy levels as younger ones, but they still need daily exercise. Older dogs may only be able to handle 20-30 minutes of exercise per day.

Dog Training

Dogs need the training to be well-behaved members of the family. Puppies need to be potty trained, taught not to chew on furniture, and how to walk on a leash. Socializing puppies with other dogs is also important, as it helps them learn how to behave around other animals.

Older dogs need obedience training to learn basic commands like sit, stay, come, and down. Training older dogs are critical if they have a history of behavioral problems.

It’s important to start training your dog as early as possible. Puppies are more accessible to train than older dogs, and most puppies will have learned basic commands by the time they are six months old.

Dog training will help your pet stay well-behaved and make sure they know who is in charge. Appropriately trained dogs are less likely to engage in destructive and aggressive behaviors.

Dog Grooming

Pet owners need to take their dogs to dog grooming for some reasons. First, grooming helps to keep your dog clean and healthy. It is essential to regularly brush your dog’s fur to remove dirt, debris, and dead skin cells. Doing so will also help distribute the natural oils in your dog’s fur, keeping their coat healthy and shiny.

In addition to keeping your dog clean, grooming also helps to reduce their risk of developing health problems. For example, regular ear cleaning can help prevent ear infections. And trimming your dog’s nails can help prevent painful ingrown nails.

Finally, grooming is essential for the bond between you and your dog. Grooming is an excellent opportunity for you to spend some quality time with your pet, and it gives them a chance to feel loved. Plus, regular grooming can help you catch any early signs of health problems to get treatment for your dog as soon as possible.

Conclusion

Owning a dog is a lot of work, but it can be gratifying. Dogs need daily exercise, training, and grooming to stay healthy and happy. By investing time and effort into taking care of your dog, you’ll create a lifelong bond with your furry friend.

With more people working from home than ever, canine companions have been brought into our families in record numbers. However, as offices reopen across the country, more and more new dog owners are discovering that their new best friends don’t like to be left alone.

Separation anxiety affects many dogs, and it can involve destructive behaviors like chewing, destroying furniture, or tearing up floors. It also includes disruptive behavior like constant barking, whining, or howling. If your dog is showing signs of separation anxiety, check out these four strategies for helping your pup feel safer and cared for even when you’re not around to keep them company.

1. Hire a Professional Dog Walker

One of the best ways to keep an anxious dog from resorting to disruptive or destructive behavior while you’re gone is to make sure they have company to break up the day. Engaging the services of a professional animal care team such as Fancy Paws Dog Walkers will guarantee your furry friend gets the exercise they need to stay happy and fit.

Many dog walking companies offer services specifically tailored to you and your dog’s needs, including puppy play sessions and extra-long walks, so you can rest easy knowing your canine pal is getting the companionship they crave.

2. Try Interactive Toys and Puzzles

Several solutions to help assuage canine anxiety have been invented in interactive dog toys designed for long-term stimulation. An example might be a hollow toy filled with frozen peanut butter or a dog-friendly puzzle with treats hidden inside.

Interactive toys are designed to keep your pup engaged even when no one else is around to play. This is ideal for mental stimulation and even delays canine cognitive dysfunction (CCD).

Some experts assert that they are an effective method of addressing stress and separation anxiety in nervous dogs. Your pup will be so distracted by the enticing treats hidden inside their toy that they’ll forget to be worried about where you are and when you’re coming back.

3. Use Treats for Positive Reinforcement

You can use several training techniques to make separation more tolerable for your dog. One of these is to connect you leaving the house with something positive, like getting a tasty treat. Here’s a breakdown of what this training technique looks like in action:

  1. Give your pup one of their favorite treats, then walk out your front door or go into another room and shut the door.
  2. If your dog starts barking or whining, wait for them to stop.
  3. After several seconds of silence (no barking or whining), come back into the room where your dog is and give them a treat and lots of praise.

Repeat these steps until your dog understands that a closed door means yummy rewards, not something to be scared or bark about. Keep giving them a high-value treat every time you leave the house to keep the lesson fresh.

4. Ask Your Vet About Medication

More advanced measures may be needed to address separation anxiety for highly nervous dogs. If your dog’s anxiety seems to be causing poor health or dangerous situations, it might be time to ask your vet about medication to help your pup calm down.

According to the American Kennel Club, SSRIs and antidepressants can effectively treatdog anxiety. These medications are generally only prescribed for dogs who have developed severe anxiety disorders. Anecdotal evidence from dog owners also supports natural remedies, like CBD oil, though this requires more study to be verified.

Supporting Your Pup Through Anxious Times

Dealing with canine separation anxiety can be overwhelming. In addition to these strategies, you can always reach out to a professional trainer for help in understanding and addressing your canine companion’s behavior. If you’ve just noticed a problem, try using these four strategies to manage canine separation anxiety and help your pup feel comfortable and safe while alone.

Have you heard the bow wow buzz going around? Dogs and pet owners are raving about a new feeding technology – one that provides dogs with plenty of reasons to bark with happiness.

If you have an older pet or a dog that tends to dispense its food over the floor, you’ll need to find out more about the elevated dog bowl. Not only does this bowl serve the needs of geriatric canines, it allows dog owners to keep their pet’s feeding area cleaner.

To learn more about the benefits of single elevated dog bowls, you’ll need to review its benefits. Knowing this information will give you the confidence needed to make a switch to a better dog feeding system.

What is an Elevated Dog Bowl?

Before sharing the benefits of an elevated dog bowl, you’ll need to know more about the bowl’s features. As the name suggests, an elevated dog bowl sits, elevated, above the ground. Its heavier weight and design keep it in place during meal time. It’s available in different sizes to accommodate the feeding needs of small to large pets.

Why You Should Buy a Dog Bowl that Sits Above the Ground

Buy an elevated dog bowl to ensure your pet’s comfort and health and to make clean-ups faster and more efficient. See why your choice in a dog bowl can make all the difference in the comfort and happiness of your pet.

1. Improve Your Dog’s Overall Physical Comfort and Health

As dogs get older, they need some assistance. After all, they reach old age fairly fast. Therefore, to enhance their quality of life, it’s important to use a feeding bowl that improves their posture and makes it easier for them to eat.

A dog that bends close to the ground can develop spinal problems or a bad back. Therefore, using an elevated dog bowl especially helps dogs who suffer from joint discomfort or arthritis. The closer the dog is to its food, the easier it is for him to receive nourishment and also enjoy better intestinal health.

2. Elevated Bowls Add to Your Home’s Decor

You can choose elevated bowls in a variety of lovely shapes and designs. While some bowls convey a more contemporary look, other bowls display a more traditional style. In fact, some of the bowls don’t look like bowls at all but resemble interesting knick-knacks.

3. Elevated Dog Bowls Keep Your Home Tidy and Neat

If your dog’s food or water is closer to the floor, your dog is more likely to make a mess. Therefore, food or water is more likely to end up scattered or spilled on the floor. Dogs create fewer messes when their bowls are higher.

4. Elevated Dog Bowls Make Feeding Much Simpler

An elevated dog bowl allows you to feed your dog with more ease. If you are older and have problems with arthritis or back pain, you won’t have to stoop or strain yourself when adding food or water to the bowl.

5. An Elevated Dog Bowl Improves Your Dog’s Behavior

Some dogs like to break free from eating and use their bowl as a toy. For instance, they’ll carry their water bowl around and sprinkle, or, in some cases, drench the floor or furnishings with water. An elevated dog bowl prevents this from happening. In turn, your dog will be better behaved.
