Join her as she uncovers the magic of London and the regal charm of the Royal Garden Hotel, all within the embrace of WorldHotels. Discover a World of Difference™ at WorldHotels.

Ah, the Royal Garden Hotel – where the enchantment of London meets the lush embrace of nature. From the moment I stepped into the lobby, I could feel the heartbeat of Kensington pulsing through its veins. And let me tell you, it’s not just a hotel; it’s a gateway to a magical London experience.

As I strolled into my Garden Deluxe room, the world beyond the vast windows unraveled like a vibrant tapestry. I swear, it felt like stepping into a scene from Mary Poppins, with Hyde Park sprawling below, and a rainbow gracing the skyline. I half-expected a chimney sweep to pop in and start singing.

Let’s talk about these Garden Deluxe rooms – the crown jewels of this regal establishment. Imagine a room where you not only sleep but also revel in the breathtaking views of Kensington Gardens from a separate raised sitting area. It’s like having your own personal front-row seat to nature’s grand performance.

Now, the location – oh, it’s as if the Royal Garden Hotel said, “Let’s just sprinkle some London magic here.” Situated in the heart of Kensington, it’s a stone’s throw away from world-class museums. I practically had a cultural feast at my doorstep! And did I mention Kensington Palace? Just a skip, hop, and a jump away. I felt like royalty wandering around its historic halls, imagining the tales of Queen Victoria and the iconic Princess Diana.

Turning right out of the hotel, Kensington opened up its arms – a haven of shops and restaurants catering to every whim. Family day out? Check. Romantic evening? Double-check. Kensington has got it all, and the Royal Garden Hotel is your VIP pass to it.

The hotel isn’t just about a comfy bed and a view; it’s an experience crafted to make your stay extraordinary. Whether you’re in for a weekend escapade or a longer affair, the Royal Garden Hotel has a room that’s basically your own personal slice of luxury pie.

And let’s talk about those bathrooms – five-star luxurious affairs that make you feel like royalty preparing for a grand ball. I half-expected a butler to offer me a golden tray with a glass slipper. Okay, maybe I’m exaggerating, but you get the gist.

In a city where every corner whispers history, the Royal Garden Hotel stands tall, offering unparalleled views of the London skyline, lavish bathrooms, and enough space to host your very own soirée. It’s not just a hotel; it’s a symphony of luxury and comfort, orchestrated for memories that linger long after the suitcase is unpacked.

It’s no wonder why Cartagena de Indias captivates locals and tourists alike. This medieval walled city on the Caribbean coast boasts charm, culture, vitality, and a vibrant nightlife scene. Explore its narrow, colorful streets lined with boutique shops in one of the best-preserved old cities in the Americas.

Cartagena de Indias

Discover Historic Elegance at Casa San Agustín in Cartagena de Indias

There is a more modern part of the city, filled with glass-laden high rises, which is reminiscent of Miami. However, I would recommend staying in the old city to soak up the magic of Cartagena. Staying in one of the refurbished, grand colonial homes from the 17th and 18th centuries is the best way to discover the city.

Casa San Agustín is one such property and it is situated in the heart of the action at Plaza de los Estudiantes. The refined boutique hotel was created from three meticulously restored 17th-century mansions. It has only 20 guestrooms and 11 suites, so attentive service from the staff is guaranteed. It seamlessly blends modern comforts with authentic Colombian features. You’ll notice the original frescoes in the library where they serve complimentary afternoon tea. In the guest rooms, you’ll see their iconic wood-beamed ceilings that are centuries old.

Accommodations at Casa San Agustín, Cartagena de Indias

The main feature of the hotel is a 300-year-old aqueduct that serves as a backdrop to the main plunge pool. It is precisely because of the existence of boutique hotels like Casa San Agustín that helps to keep these important relics well-preserved. Plenty of greenery such as palm trees surround the public areas to offer a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of the old town.

The rooms are relatively spacious even at the entry-level deluxe rooms, which range from 409 and 839 sq. ft. They provide luxurious Frette linens as well as renowned Ortigia amenities from Sicily. On the other end of the spectrum, you have the eye-catching Suite Prestige. They are duplexes with an area between 1539 and 1732 sq. ft. They include two bedrooms which is ideal for families and close friends to share. All the rooms offer a complimentary mini-bar that includes soft drinks and beer. The combination of dark wood, polished marble and ornate painting tiling in the bathroom adds to the colonial grandeur of the surroundings.

Their sister property, Casa Pestagua offers a similar level of comfort and sophistication. It is known as “the most beautiful house in Cartegena”. It belonged to the powerful 18th-century aristocrat, Count of Pestagua. It had undergone a major 15-million-dollar refurbishment and had only reopened last April. Now you can live the life of a count too, when you book in to stay at Casa Pestagua. The hotel is a proud member of the Relais & Chateaux group, the only hotel in Colombia awarded with that honour.

You might feel even more exclusive at this property with only 10 spacious suites and 6 deluxe rooms. The laid-back charm is very similar to Casa San Agustin. The central plunge pool is ideal for escaping the occasional sweltering Caribbean heat. The shaded sunbeds underneath the tropical palm trees are an ideal spot for catching up with your reading list. You’ll notice plenty of Moorish-inspired arches around the boutique hotel that recount the colonial times of previous centuries.

Indulge in Culinary Excellence

The rooms have a light and airy design, no doubt helped by the double-height ceilings and excellent use of natural lighting. You’ll find sturdy-looking light wooden beams on the ceiling of all the rooms. Similar to the sister property, the entry-level room is deluxe and includes luxury linen and ever-reliable Ortigia amenities. Having been refurbished recently, the decor is marginally fresher looking than her sister property but both boutique hotels are maintained to the highest of standards.

The restaurant offering at both hotels is headed by renowned Chef Heberto Eljach, who is one of the most celebrated chefs in Colombia. At Casa Pestagua, we have the culinary delight of AniMare. The menu is a journey of Colombian cuisine with modern touches. It takes in both influences from the Caribbean and the Pacific side of the country. You’ll get to savour local classics such as shrimp and snail cocktail Cartagena style. Typically, such a dish is found as street food in the local streets of the city, but here it is served in a much-elevated format, with avocado and homemade bread. Their seafood casserole main course is equally elevated with treasures of the sea served up in lobster cream and coconut milk sauce along with fried plantain chips. At Alma situated in Casa San Agustín, you’ll enjoy a similarly extravagant fine dining experience. They are particularly proud of showcasing the best of Colombian cuisine and cater for all kinds of dietary requirements from gluten-free to vegetarian needs.

For those looking for a beach holiday, you can enjoy that as well whilst staying at both hotels. They have a private beach club at ACASĪ on Isla Barú. You can immerse your feet on the white sandy beaches and swim in the turquoise waters of the beach. The hotel can arrange a private round-trip boat charter that takes about 45 minutes and you can admire the picturesque coastline along the way. It will be a different experience to the history and culture of the old town.

Finally, if you want to relax further, they have the Aurum spa. You can enjoy everything from a detoxifying body scrub in the hammam to a gold wrap to help nourish the skin. Aurum is the Latin word for gold.

For a holiday where you can enjoy both a city break and a beach holiday. One where you can embrace history and modernity. Make sure you check out the romantic city of Cartagena.

Laura Bartlett, an avid globetrotter, recounts her recent journey from Leeds to Las Vegas, highlighting how the prelude to her holiday was made delightful by the seamless services of Holiday Extras…

A Testimony of Hassle-Free Travel, Airport Comfort, and Future Visions in Holiday making

As an avid traveler, I’ve always believed that the journey is just as important as the destination. Having been a loyal customer of Holiday Extras for years, I can attest that they consistently take the hassle out of travel. This time around, I opted for airport parking and lounge access, but their offerings extend far beyond, catering to a spectrum of travel needs.

Join Laura Bartlett on an enchanting voyage as she steps off the Eurostar, weaving a tale of family joy and culinary wonders at Hôtel des Grands Voyageurs.

Stepping off the Eurostar into the heart of Paris marked a familiar joy for me, but this time, it was about witnessing my family’s first encounter with the enchanting city. Our abode for this adventure was the Hôtel des Grands Voyageurs, a haven that seamlessly blends old-world European elegance with a fresh, contemporary charm.

With two rooms – a Junior Suite and Deluxe Double – the hotel presented us with spaces that mirrored the magic of Paris itself. The distinction between the rooms was subtle, both generously sized with great lighting, exuding character that made our stay truly memorable.

Designed by Milanese architect Fabrizio Casiraghi, the hotel encapsulates a life of travel, offering an intimate, residential experience where comfort takes precedence. Each space within the hotel unfolds as its own voyage, adorned with a captivating collection of art objects, narrating the tales of a world-traveler.

The transatlantic dining experience at Grands Voyageurs, inspired by grand passenger ships, fused American and Parisian influences, creating a unique culinary journey. From inventive cocktails at the hotel bar to the tempting buffet-style breakfast in La Brasserie “Grands Voyageurs,” every aspect spoke of an immersive Parisian experience.

In the heart of Hôtel des Grands Voyageurs, our dining experience transcended the ordinary, becoming a symphony of flavors orchestrated by a remarkable waiter, Mehdi. As we embarked on a transatlantic culinary journey from France to the East Coast of the United States, the restaurant, Grands Voyageurs, unfolded as a modern interpretation of a Parisian brasserie, blending conviviality with relaxed sophistication.

Mehdi, our adept guide through this gastronomic adventure, seemed to dance around the restaurant with seamless grace, ensuring everyone’s satisfaction with his impeccable customer service. Inspired by the golden age of ocean travel, the seafood-focused menu masterfully combined traditional French dishes with American classics, offering a fresh and contemporary twist.

In the midst of this culinary ballet, standout dishes like the Chicken Suprême with Girolles & jus corsé & fries showcased the perfection in simplicity. However, the star of the show emerged at the end – the Baked Alaska, flamed with absinthe, concluding our dining experience on an unforgettable note.

Hôtel des Grands Voyageurs goes beyond just rooms; it offers a diverse selection, including the 8 spacious Junior Suites, epitomising contemporary Parisian elegance. Each suite boasts a super king bed, a dedicated lounge area, and a complimentary minibar, providing a sophisticated pied-à-terre.

The Deluxe Rooms, perched on the top floor, bathed in Parisian light, offer an ideal retreat for longer stays, couples, and those seeking a touch more room. Regardless of the choice, each room is equipped with Nespresso machines, Diptyque toiletries, and other amenities, ensuring a luxurious stay.

In the heart of Paris, Hôtel des Grands Voyageurs became more than a stay; it was a chapter in our travel tale, blending the familiarity of my eighth visit with the joy of seeing Paris anew through my family’s eyes.

Join us as Laura Bartlett recounts how Eurostar transformed a traditional escape into a seamless, memorable journey, uncovering the simplicity and charm of city-hopping and creating lasting family traditions in the heart of Europe...

Every year, my family and I embark on a festive getaway to London, a tradition born out of the need for healing after the loss of my late father. This year, however, I decided to add an unexpected twist to our annual pilgrimage. Instead of heading back to home Leeds on the familiar train, we embraced a surprise adventure with Eurostar, whisking us away to the enchanting city of Paris in just 2 hours and 16 minutes.

The Eurostar experience began at the iconic London St Pancras International, a historic 19th-century station nestled in the heart of the city. With its elegance and convenient connections, it set the stage for a journey that promised simplicity, intelligence, and speed.

What makes Eurostar stand out is its commitment to city centre-to-city centre travel. No airport transfers, no wasted time. The comfort of a high-speed train allowed us to make the most of our 24 hours in Paris, seamlessly hopping from one country to another.

Onboard, the Eurostar proved to be simple, affordable, and relaxing. The two bags and one piece of hand luggage per passenger came with no extra charge or weight limits. Seat selection was free, and there were no restrictions on liquids, allowing us to bring a bit of bubbly to toast to our adventure, albeit 0% fizz in ode to my sobriety.

Free onboard Wi-Fi and power sockets at our seats kept us connected throughout the journey. Eurostar Café offered a delightful array of hot and cold drinks and snacks. For those in Standard Premier or Business Premier, a three-course meal at your seat added a touch of luxury to the travel experience. Think fresh baked croissants, yogurt and proper coffee.

Arriving at Paris Gare du Nord, we found ourselves conveniently placed in the heart of the city, just a short stroll away from iconic attractions like Montmartre and the Sacré-Coeur. The neoclassical façade of Gare du Nord welcomed us to the charm of Paris with connections to the metro, RER trains, and local buses.

Eurostar, in comparison to flying, emerged as a superior choice for several reasons. No hidden costs – once you pick your tickets, there are no additional fees for seat selection, advanced booking, or luggage allowance. Unlike the restrictions on liquids and food imposed by airlines, Eurostar allows you to carry liquids without volume limits, and there are no restrictions on bringing your own food onboard.

To those wondering about additional fees, luggage restrictions, or the hassle of airport security, Eurostar proves to be the epitome of convenience and simplicity. With each journey, Eurostar not only connects cities but also creates lasting memories, making it the only way to travel from London to Paris for my family and me.

 Tickets are available from www.eurostar.com.

In the enthralling world of high-performance automobiles, there exists a narrative spun by the confluence of memories, family bonds, and the unmistakable allure of Aston Martin.

Laura Bartlett gets behind the wheel and proves that this isn’t just any car, it’s an Aston Martin car…

Taking the wheel of the Aston Martin DBX707 wasn’t just a drive; it was a journey through cherished memories and a poignant reunion with a brand that has woven itself into the fabric of my family’s history. Having collaborated with Aston Martin in the past, the resonance of this experience goes beyond the purr of a powerful engine; it’s about the shared moments, the road trips, and the indelible connection we’ve formed.

My family outings in an Aston Martin were more than just rides; they were adventures that brought us together. The late evenings, winding roads, and the unmistakable hum of an Aston Martin became the soundtrack to countless cherished memories. My late dad, an ardent enthusiast, had an unwavering love for the brand, turning our family escapades into a celebration of craftsmanship and performance.

As fate would have it, when the DBX707 arrived from Aston Martin HQ, it bore the colour that held a special place in my dad’s heart – orange. It was more than a mere coincidence; it felt like a sign, a tangible connection to his spirit accompanying us on this cross-country road trip from Leeds to London. The DBX707, resplendent in orange, became a vessel of shared memories and a testament to the enduring bond we share with Aston Martin.

Embarking on the annual road trip to London with my mum and brother, the DBX707 effortlessly blended emotion with exceptional performance. The journey was more than just a drive; it was an exploration of the extraordinary capabilities of the DBX707, a supercar among SUVs. Uncompromising in its pursuit of excellence, the DBX707 allowed us to unleash the power and style synonymous with Aston Martin, all while navigating the cross-country route with the precision of a true sports car.

Crafted from an extruded and cast aluminium, continuous hot-bonded monocoque body shell, the DBX707’s design is a symphony of engineering precision. The “Swan Wing” infinite stop frameless doors, akin to the graceful wings of a swan, add a touch of elegance and drama as they unfold, revealing the sporty and aerodynamic silhouette of the vehicle.

The bi-LED AHB headlamps, with their auto high beam assist, aren’t just lights; they’re the eyes guiding the DBX707 through the night. The “Clamshell” bonnet isn’t merely a cover; it’s a statement of Aston Martin’s commitment to timeless aesthetics. And what’s a drive without a panoramic glass sunroof? It’s not just a view; it’s a connection to the open sky, transforming every journey into a celestial experience.

Inside the cabin, the craftsmanship continues to impress. The sport seats, 16-way adjustable, aren’t just for comfort; they’re an embrace, ensuring that every passenger feels the thrill of the road. The leather and Alcantara upholstery, with micro-perforation seat detailing, isn’t just material; it’s a tactile experience, a reminder of the luxury synonymous with Aston Martin.

But the DBX707 doesn’t just captivate with its exterior and interior; it also boasts an arsenal of standard features that elevate the driving experience. The Aston Martin Premium Audio System, with 800 watts and 14 speakers, isn’t just sound; it’s a concert on wheels. The 22″ Sport wheels, gloss black and diamond-turned, aren’t just rims; they’re the finishing touch, adding a dash of sophistication to the DBX707’s stance.

Arriving at the London Grosvenor Hotel, with the DBX707 parked outside, felt like a homecoming. The perfect base for our London adventures, the hotel mirrored the elegance and sophistication embodied by the Aston Martin brand. The car, now more than a mode of transportation, became a symbol of shared love, passion, and the continuation of a legacy.

In every rev of the engine and every twist of the road, the DBX707 echoed the sentiment – Aston Martin is not just a brand; it’s a conduit to treasured moments and an ode to the ones we hold dear. The supercar of SUVs, it masterfully blends emotion with exceptional performance, embodying the spirit of adventure that defines the Aston Martin experience.

As I navigate the open road, the DBX707 isn’t just a car; it’s a partner in a thrilling chapter of performance, style, and unbridled excitement. With every turn of the wheel, it transforms the ordinary into the extraordinary, making every drive a celebration of the artistry and engineering prowess that make Aston Martin a true icon on the road.

In her ongoing exploration of luxury hotels in London, Laura Bartlett had the pleasure of immersing herself in the charm of The Chesterfield Mayfair. Nestled within three elegant Georgian townhouses in the heart of Berkeley Square, The Chesterfield Mayfair is a regal abode that effortlessly blends luxury with timeless charm.

Stepping into this Mayfair gem, you are welcomed by a doorman adorned in a top hat, setting the tone for a sophisticated experience. The wood-panelled lobby and sitting area, adorned with chunky leather armchairs, antiques, and chandeliers, create an ambiance of refined comfort.

Ascending to the 107 rooms, the decor resonates with Savile Row pinstripes or opulent gilded black lacquer furniture, complemented by soft robes and Elemis bath products. Opting for a suite unveils an extra layer of indulgence, with evening canapés delivered to your door and the opportunity to savour Champagne alongside your afternoon tea in the elegant conservatory. The Chesterfield Mayfair is not just a hotel; it’s a curated experience, where every detail speaks to the grandeur of Mayfair living.

Laura checks in…

My Enchanting Stay at The Chesterfield Mayfair:

From the moment I stepped into the polished marble lobby, a wave of familiarity washed over me, as if I were returning to a beloved place I had visited countless times before. It was a peculiar sensation, considering this was my first time setting foot in this elegant establishment.

The warmth of the welcome from the staff, orchestrated by the dedicated Deputy General Manager, Biagio Sarubbu, transcended the usual hotel hospitality. It felt like being embraced by an extended family, a sentiment that stayed with me throughout my stay—a remarkable touch that set The Chesterfield apart.

Junior Suite Delight:

As I stepped into my Junior Suite, I was greeted by a sight that would make any princess feel right at home. The room, with its unique decorative style, was nothing short of regal. The Savoir beds whispered promises of a night’s rest befitting royalty, and the plush bathrobes and slippers added a touch of decadence.

Every detail in the Junior Suite spoke to the hotel’s commitment to providing a luxurious and personalised experience. As I settled in, I couldn’t help but appreciate the unique character of the room, a perfect reflection of The Chesterfield’s dedication to creating an unforgettable stay.

Yet, what truly stole the show and stood as the centrepiece of it all was the magnificent chandelier, casting a warm and enchanting glow that elevated the entire ambiance to a level of grandeur fit for royalty.

The presence of a freshly baked red cake—a delicious representation of the Red Carnation Hotels group to which The Chesterfield belongs, greeted me when I arrived. It was as if they had baked a slice of their heart and soul into my stay.

Fresh flowers adorned the suite too, adding a burst of colour and fragrance that further elevated the atmosphere. It wasn’t just a temporary dwelling; it was a home away from home, designed for a princess in pursuit of the extraordinary.

The sense of warmth and belonging extended beyond the confines of my suite, permeating every corner of The Chesterfield Mayfair.

From the historic streets of Mayfair to the attentive staff and the charming hidden gems, my overnight stay felt like more than just an accommodation—it was a journey into the heart of British hospitality.

Rooms start from £320 a night for a Classic Double, including breakfast and complimentary Wi-Fi.

As the sun painted the sky in hues of amber, Laura Bartlett, accompanied by her brother, takes you on an unforgettable journey along the Leeds to Liverpool Canal. In this recent experience, Laura shares the joy of the open road, propelled by the effortless power of their trusty electric bikes from Talio

My brother, an avid biking enthusiast, had been raving about the unparalleled joy of riding his bike. He often shared the details of his solo biking adventures each week, my brother’s eyes sparkled with an undeniable zeal. The wind in his hair, the picturesque landscapes that unfolded before him, and the seamless glide of his bike – his words painted a vivid picture of the profound experience he found riding his bike. It was more than a mere physical activity; it was a ritual, a personal journey where he found solace and rejuvenation.

His excitement reached new heights as he contemplated sharing this cherished experience with me on our recent bike ride along the Leeds to Liverpool Canal. The prospect of introducing me to the world he so passionately inhabited every week lit up his face with anticipation. He described how, on his solo rides, he felt time slowing down, entering a space where the pure pleasure of the ride transformed into a meditative escape from the constraints of reality.

With the spark alight in his eyes, I was eager to share in his passion. Little did I know, this adventure would turn into an extraordinary day filled with laughter, discovery, and the thrill of covering over 50km without breaking a sweat.

Cue the arrival of Talio bikes.

Talio Electric Bikes in Leeds is more than a brand; it’s a lifestyle. Their commitment to making e-bikes easy for everyone, from seasoned riders to novices, sets them apart. From sales and trials to rentals, safety training, servicing, and aftercare – Talio’s 360º service ensures that you can focus on the ride while they take care of the rest.

When Francesco Mazzella, the zealous founder of Talio, delivered our bikes, his eyes lit up with an infectious enthusiasm. As he handed over the electric marvels, Francesco couldn’t help but share the profound freedom he experiences on his own rides.

What makes our experience with Talio even more special is the brand’s powerful backstory. Learning that the founder built the business with the memory of his daughter in mind adds a profound layer to the joy we felt on our electric bikes. Talio isn’t just about changing lives; it’s about creating connections and sharing the love for life on two wheels.

As a proud resident of Leeds, I find immense joy in championing local brands with impactful stories, and Talio is a shining example. Joining the movement is more than just enjoying the ride; it’s about being part of a community that celebrates life, adventure, and the freedom that electric biking offers.

Equipped with a helmet that matched the colour of my bike to maintain my usual glamorous touch, our journey began. We glided along the Leeds to Liverpool canal on our newly acquired Talio electric bikes. The gentle hum of their motors added a touch of enchantment to the ride, sparking our curiosity about the world of electric biking. While our initial destination was Three Locks, a charming spot along the canal, our aspirations stretched further – the renowned Five Locks awaited our next adventurous visit.

The journey wasn’t just about the destination; it was about the moments we shared along the way. We paused to indulge in tea and cake, savouring the simple pleasures that life on a Talio electric bike offered. Our bikes became more than just modes of transportation; they were companions in our exploration, offering the perfect blend of style and comfort.

Our adventure didn’t stop at the canal. We pedaled our way to Kirkstall Abbey, marveling at the historic ruins. The electric support from our Talio bikes made the journey seamless, allowing us to focus on the beauty surrounding us rather than the physical exertion of the ride.

By the end of our journey, my brother, initially a skeptic of electric bikes, was thoroughly converted to the electric life. The seamless and effortless ride offered by Talio had won him over, and he was now prepared to trade in his push bike for his very own Talio. The prospect of exploring the canal and beyond with the support of electric power had transformed his perspective on biking.

Our day along the canal wasn’t just about reaching destinations; it was about discovering the joy of electric biking. As we marvelled at the sights along the canal, the idea of venturing to the famous Five Locks on a Talio electric bike became an exciting future goal.

Whether you’re an e-bike aficionado or a complete novice, Talio welcomes you with open arms at their Leeds clubhouse. Bring your sense of adventure, and they’ll handle the details, making your journey into the world of electric biking a breeze.

In a world where every ride is an adventure, Talio Electric Bikes invites you to join the movement and truly enjoy the ride.
