Wellbeing by the Lakes is a 4-day boutique wellness festival that is set within 26 acres of one of the world’s most beautiful sculpture parks ‘Sculpture By The Lakes’.

Nestled away in the Dorset countryside in Pallington near Dorchester. Three years on from its inception, Wellness By The Lakes is the definitive festival where you can truly kick back and unwind in a unique setting.

At Wellbeing By The Lakes, there’s a myriad of fantastic talks and classes that you can attend which includes different types of yoga which includes Vinyasa Flow, Face, Rocket and Laughter yoga.

There was also an incredible Acro Yoga performance by the lakes in the park which made for a truly enriching setting.

The sculpture park is made up of several lakes and even has the fast-flowing River Frome running alongside it.

There are several sculptures throughout the park which have been crafted by both the park owner, and visionary creator Simon Gudgeon as well as pieces of art from some of the UK’s leading sculptors.

Sculpture By The Lakes is a real haven of peace and tranquillity where spirit meets nature and as you might expect, it’s the perfect backdrop to the festival.

This is especially true when you are participating in classes like sound healing (including transcendent sound healing)  shamanic healing meditation, crystal sound healing, gong baths, skincare workshops, flower garland workshops, breathwork workshops, forest bathing and more.

There was also a fantastic class on the law of attraction too.

The event includes a wide variety of wellness educators and advocates, from best-selling authors and life coaches to fitness and yoga instructors.

Two of the standout talks were from Dr Jenny Goodman who is a qualified medical doctor and the author of ‘Staying Alive in Toxic Times: A Seasonal Guide to Lifelong Health’.

She shared insightful knowledge on simple, yet effective changes that we can all make to make healthier and informed decisions which are kinder not only to ourselves but to the planet.

My personal favourite ‘Wellbeing by The Lakes’ moment was a phenomenal talk from the coach and celebrated author Donna Lancaster who uses her best-selling book ‘The Bridge’ to teach people about healing from grief and how to live your most authentic life.

This empathetic, empowering, beautifully written roadmap gives the reader the tools for dealing with life’s setbacks and how to heal yourself in order to become the most authentic version of yourself.

One of my favourite things to do was to meander around ‘The Market Place’ which was packed with stalls from independent and local artisan producers selling everything from jewellery, clothing and ceramics to homeware, essential oils, art and so much more.

We got to try one of the best Kombucha I have ever had in the shape of Boochacha and tried some of the incredible oils over at Ayten Aromatherapy where founder Sarah Ayten has effortlessly fused performance art with aromatherapy, creating a fantastic range of premium therapeutic grade essential oils which tackles everything from fatigue to getting your mojo back.

Wellbeing by the Lakes is the ideal remedy for helping people to relax, recharge and feel healthier and happier in the most beautiful and tranquil setting.

It’s the perfect environment to not only just enjoy a festival with a difference, but to help people to fully engage with wellness practices and experiences. It provides an enlightening experience and allows you to come away feeling fully restored and revitalised.

My moment.

As I sat on the freezing cold boulder that drew me in to the bend of the icy river, I gave in to the truth that nature was healing me. That was what I was feeling.

I slowly breathed in the oxygen that felt thick and forceful, lovingly created for me by the forests around me, and that they had kindly offered to feed me with.

Pursing my lips to prevent the leaving rush of air, I held onto the exhale with a dizzying purpose. Hearing only the sizzle of the water as it bubbled through the rocks on the river bed, I closed my eyes. Resting the back of my hands on my crossed legs, I felt the Earth pull me back to lay down in peace.

I was forest bathing, Shinrin Yoku, in the snowy Alps near Morzine.

The moment.

The trip to Morzine could have been any snowboarding trip. Adrenaline filling every moment from the unnatural downward sliding to the all-natural buzz from dancing all night in your boots following Après.

Don’t get me wrong, it was all those things and more. The food and drink scene in Morzine leaves an indelible impression, as does the historical surprises discovered by chatting to the locals.

Yet, this trip to Morzine was more memorable than ever before. Proof that even if you still haven’t fallen head over heels in love with skiing or snowboarding, it doesn’t mean you have to miss out on a snow trip with friends or family.

Simone, our magical forest bathing guide, greeted us with the calmest, warmest, and most welcoming smile to take us on our enlightening tour.

Shinrin-yoku is a widely popular medicinal practice in Japan. It offers the opportunity to reconnect with our natural ability to heal, recharge our batteries, and therapeutically remedy blood pressure issues, anxiety, and depression.

With Magical Snow Treks in Morzine, guided by Simone, you’ll fully immerse yourself into the forest, re-awakening your digital-living battered senses.

Their moment.

We began our experience at a point in the forest where we asked permission to enter. One of our group, a guy who recently lost his mother, shed a tear at this early point. The powerful pull of nature often has a visceral effect on those who least expect it, when you and your group go all in.

The still silence of our movements meant that the forest and its inhabitants were comfortable in loudly being themselves around us. We showed them that we respected their home and were giving in to whatever lessons they were to teach us, if any at all.

After moving on from the forest gate, snowshoes strapped on and full cold weather hiking gear, it was time to give and receive with the forest.

Simone is a beautiful soul wondering around in this bonhomie radiating human being. She coaches and guides in a way that makes normal-people sense. Nobody felt silly or that they were getting anything wrong. There we’re moments of silence, receiving energy, offering thanks, and deeply getting to know the forest.

She asked us to get to know part of the forest that we felt pulled to, so I made friends with a tree stump that looked like it was reaching out for a hug. I don’t feel stupid about admitting that we had a chat. I asked if they were okay with what happened, they told me that it has been hard but with the support of the entire forest, the moss, and the animals around them they were thriving.

Your moment.

I’m a tree hugging, deep thinking, energy conduit so this was heaven to me. I often feel the receiving or giving of energy intensely. However, even if none of this represents you, please give forest bathing in Morzine a shot.

You’ll experience a slow walk through nature, with time to look around and take in an environment that you rarely get to relax in.

The final piece of the journey is enjoying freshly picked Norway spruce bud tea amongst the orchid filled clearing at the end. The perfect place to chat with your group about how the last couple of hours made you feel. You may even be surprised by yourself and others.

It truly is an inspiring way to relax, just a few hours out of the day or night and the chance to see more of the area in a new and mindful way.

There is a lot of interest in CBD as a treatment for sleep disorders. However, there is currently limited scientific evidence to support this claim. In this article, we discuss what CBD is and whether it may help with sleep. We also provide tips on using CBD oil.

What is CBD?

CBD is short for cannabidiol. It is one of many compounds found in the cannabis plant. Unlike THC, CBD does not produce a high or intoxication. Some people believe that it may have medical benefits, including easing anxiety, reducing inflammation, and relieving pain.

Does CBD help with sleep?

There is limited scientific evidence to support the use of CBD as a treatment for sleep disorders. However, some people believe that it may help with sleep by:

  • Reducing anxiety
  • Relieving pain
  • Improving sleep quality

A small 2019 study found that CBD may help improve sleep quality in people with insomnia. The participants were given 25 mg of CBD oil per day for 2 weeks. The researchers found that the participants slept better and had less daytime sleepiness than those who did not take CBD oil.

Another small study from 2018 looked at the use of CBD in people with REM sleep behavior disorder (RBD). RBD is a condition that causes people to act out violently during their dreams. The participants were given 600 mg of CBD per day for 6 weeks. The researchers found that the participants slept better and had less dream recall after taking CBD.

How to use CBD oil for sleep

If you are considering using CBD oil for sleep, it is important to talk to your doctor first. This is because CBD can interact with some medications, such as those that treat anxiety or depression. It is also important to purchase CBD from a reputable source. This will help ensure that you are getting a high-quality product.

There are several ways to take CBD oil, including:

  • Capsules: You can take CBD capsules with water.
  • Tinctures: You can place a few drops of the tincture under your tongue and hold it there for 30 seconds before swallowing. This allows the CBD to be absorbed into your bloodstream more quickly.
  • Topicals: You can apply CBD oil directly to your skin.

When using CBD oil for sleep, it is important to start with a low dose and increase gradually as needed. It is also important to use the oil consistently for several weeks to see if it is effective. If you do not see any improvement after a few weeks, you may want to try a different product or method.

Things to Consider Before Taking CBD Oil for Sleep

Before taking CBD oil for sleep, there are a few things you should consider. First, it is important to talk to your doctor about any medical conditions you have and any medications you are taking. This is because CBD can interact with some medications. Second, it is important to purchase CBD from a reputable source. This will help ensure that you get a high-quality product. Finally, when using CBD oil for sleep, it is important to start with a low dose and increase gradually as needed.

The Bottom Line

There is limited scientific evidence to support the use of CBD as a treatment for sleep disorders. However, some people believe that it may help with sleep by reducing anxiety or improving sleep quality. If you are considering using CBD oil for sleep, it is important to talk to your doctor first and purchase CBD from a reputable source. Stay safe and have a good one!

Spas can offer an incredible wealth of healing and relaxation. Once certain Davenport spa understands all too well the nourishing power of deep-tissue massage. However, as a newcomer, this can be intimidating. Here’s how to handle your first trip.

Before you arrive

After you’ve chosen and booked a spa you particularly like the sound of, make sure to check the gratuity policy. Some spas may include gratuity in their initial pricing, whilst others do not. Generally, the expectation is to tip 20% of the treatment price – though if you have an exceptional therapist, don’t be shy to match that with an even better tip.

Have a look at what treatments are on offer at the spa, too, and read up on the benefits and process of each option. Picking the treatment best suited for your needs and wishes is a surefire way to feel totally rejuvenated and fresh when leaving. So for example, if you struggle with muscle aches and stiffness, a Swedish massage can be a fantastic choice to boost circulation and ease the pain in your deep tissues.

Pick from the spa menu well in advance, so you remove any stress upon your arrival. However, if you’re torn between a few different treatments, don’t be afraid to ask the staff for their thoughts.

Pack Your Bag

Packing a good spa bag can elevate your spa trip from nice to divine. For overnight or residential spa trips especially, a spa bag is an essential part. Here, it’s best to pack one bag for the spa and another for your hotel or locker room with any non-spa essentials. Robes and towels are usually provided by a spa, but other things can be lifesavers. Consider packing in a similar way you would for the beach – pack a bathing suit, perhaps a change of clothes, some comfy sandals, a good book, sunglasses, and suncream. The goal is to make your day as comfortable and relaxing as possible, so if you’ve got long hair also look into hairbands or hair ties for when you go for a swim or massage.

Grab some moisturizer – great if your skin needs a little pick-me-up after the steam room or a thorough exfoliation, and lip balm and perfume can see you leaving the spa looking and smelling totally refreshed. Not all spas offer deodorant, so don’t forget to grab your own just in case.

Bringing along two swimsuits means that you can also avoid those ugly paper pants that some spas rely on; one for the massage, and another for the swim room.

Once you get there

It’s important to arrive at your spa free from any oil and soil. A well-informed guest will know to arrive as clean as possible. It’s also important to step into the shower and rinse off before using any joint facilities.

Once you’re in the changing area, be careful not to step on any cultural toes. Be aware that discretion is required: you’re sharing an area with others who may be more or less modest or self-conscious than yourself. Make sure to follow the guidelines that your spa puts in place, and wear the robe provided. Remember that, when you are in the changing area, you’re not in your own bathroom at home. Respect the proximity of your fellow guests around you.

If you’re booked in for a massage, be sure to arrive roughly an hour before the scheduled start time. This means you get a chance to unwind and enjoy the steam and sauna facilities. This is important to do before your massage, as relaxed muscles benefit far more from deep tissue therapy.

If you let the therapist know this is your first treatment, expect him or her to give you a good run-through of what to expect, as well as the opportunity to discuss any concerns or questions. This is a good moment to point out any previous injuries or sprains you may have suffered from at an earlier stage, as this can be addressed in your treatment.

The therapist will then instruct you on how you can support their physical treatment. This can include removing the necessary pieces of clothing or lying in a particular position. If anything the therapist says makes you feel uncomfortable at any point, make sure to speak up. For a successful and productive massage, you need to feel mentally and physically completely relaxed.

On your Way Home

Whether it’s been a day-long or residential spa trip, you’ll want to maximize the benefits of your spa treatment. Make sure to fully hydrate on your way out, as saunas and gym rooms can leave you dehydrated. Thank your therapist and the staff, then ride that zen bubble home!

Following the legalization of CBD in several states, the market and simultaneous use of medical marijuana skyrocketed. Many people use it conventionally to treat a wide array of medical conditions, ranging from chronic pain, skin conditions, and other medical issues.

As the use of medical cannabis increased, so did the available formulations on the market. If you have purchased CBD products before, you might have noticed some are classified as full-spectrum, broad-spectrum, or CBD isolates.

As the name suggests, broad-spectrum CBD oil closely resembles full-spectrum. They contain CBD and other terpenes and cannabinoids. However, unlike full-spectrum CBD, they have very little traces of THC. This makes them a perfect choice for users who want to enjoy the entourage effect brought by various cannabinoids but without the high feel of THC.

What Are the Benefits of Broad-Spectrum CBD?

Like other CBD tinctures, broad-spectrum CBD tinctures can reduce anxiety, alleviate pain, reduce inflammation, and improve sleep, along with many other health benefits. Apart from these health benefits of CBD that everyone should know, below are specific benefits of choosing broad-spectrum CBD tinctures over full-spectrum and isolates.

Improve Physical and Mental Health

More people have turned to CBD products to curb stress and soothe their anxieties. If you want to enjoy the therapeutic benefits of CBD on mental health, you should consider using broad-spectrum CBD tinctures. Studies from the National Institutes of Health suggest that full-spectrum products are very potent in alleviating neuropathic pain associated with serious health ailments.

However, since broad-spectrum CBD products contain most of the compounds found in full-spectrum products, they have a high potency to calm the mind and treat neurological difficulties. However, you should understand various aspects of CBD’s wellness trend before using it.

1. The Entourage Effect

Broad-spectrum CBD has several cannabinoids working in synergy, contributing to these products’ full potential, otherwise referred to as the “entourage effect.” Both full-spectrum and broad-spectrum CBD can produce this effect. However, CBD isolates have fewer cannabinoids and don’t produce this effect.

2. Less Processed than CBD Isolates

CBD isolates are free from terpenes, THC, and flavonoids found in the hemp plant. This means that they undergo several processes and refinements to make them pure. Broad-spectrum CBD tinctures have not only beneficial nutrients but also low levels of THC, which can help the body.

How to Use Broad-Spectrum CBD Tinctures?

CBD tinctures can be taken in two main ways. First, you can take them sublingually, which is the most effective and fast-acting method. For this, place a drop under your tongue and hold it for 90 seconds. Users who have tried this method have reported relief within 15 seconds.

This is because CBD is absorbed directly, bypassing the digestive system. The second intake method is adding drops of broad-spectrum CBD tinctures to your drink or food. This method is long-acting and has a low bioavailability.

Endnote

If you are ready to try broad-spectrum CBD tinctures, Joy Organics has quality broad-spectrum CBD tinctures. All products are tested and verified by independent labs for quality and purity. They are also free from herbicides, heavy metals, pesticides, and other contaminants.

Many people don’t think twice about training in the morning because they feel it’s a waste of their time.

There are many reasons why you should start your morning with some fitness activities instead of waiting until lunchtime or later.

Morning Training Tips for Beginners

Getting up earlier in the morning to train might not seem like the most thrilling of ideas, but there are so many health benefits that you’d be crazy not to give it a go.

Just being able to spend an hour or two working out, boosting your metabolism ready for breakfast and your morning coffee may be enough to inspire your own motivation to get up early.

However, if you’re a beginner and don’t yet feel confident in training in the morning, or are worried about the weather conditions and what you will wear, here are our top tips for those unsure of whether morning training is the right choice for them:

Gives You a Boost of Energy for Your Day

Working out early helps to kickstart your metabolism, meaning you’ll get more benefits from things like your CBII CBD gummies UK, your supplements, and your hydration.

You’ll also be ready to start your day with a bang, so whether you’re at work or out with friends and family, you’ll be feeling more energetic. You’ll be able to take advantage of the time you’ve got.

You’ll Get Better Rest At Night

If you feel tired in the evenings, training in the morning may well help you sleep a bit better at night, meaning a lack of quality rest is less likely to affect your productivity.

You may find that your sleep is more regular. You’ll also find yourself waking up naturally earlier because of less disruption to your sleep patterns.

It Doubles as a Wake-Up Call to Help you Stay Alert During the Daytime

Training in the morning will allow you to wake up in a more natural way, ensuring that you get the sleep you need and allowing you to be alert during the day.

It’ll also give your body time to adapt and help bolster your physiological system for the long hours ahead.

Train Before You Eat

If you’re in a routine where you work out in the morning, then you’ll know exactly when it is that you wake up and eat.

You can plan your meals around this, and planning what you eat ahead of time will help ensure that you don’t go off your food plan.

Morning Training Saves Time in a Busy Schedule

Those on a busy schedule may find it hard to fit in a workout during the day, but with training in the morning, you can fit it in before your day even starts.

Moving your workout to the morning will help you make use of those hours in the day where you’re less productive and leave you with more hours in the evenings after work to devote to your hobbies or studies.

Reading this headline has probably left you wondering what on earth we’re talking about. If you want to lose weight you need to exercise more and eat less, right?

Well, there’s a way to lose weight without sacrificing your diet. In fact, eating more calories (strategically, might we add) can help you to hit those weight loss goals. On top of burning fat, this method enables you to maintain your goal weight too – something traditional dieting methods just don’t account for. They rely on you sticking to restrictive diets and intense fitness training, but this just isn’t a long-term solution for the majority of people.

But reverse dieting is different. Essentially a process of reprogramming the way your body interacts with the food you put into it, this method works with your body to maximize its ability to burn calories and help you lose weight. Want to know how, exactly? Keep reading and you’ll find out everything you need to know about this revolutionary approach to weight loss and management.

Reverse dieting: going against the grain

What we’ve been taught about weight loss is centered around calorie deficits. In other words, the fitness world tells us that if we want to lose weight, we need to reduce the amount of calories we put into our bodies. This sounds like it makes logical sense, but in reality, it does anything but that.

Our bodies need calories to survive. Through the food we eat, we’re able to convert calories into energy (known as the process of metabolism) – and this energy is vital for a range of bodily functions. From simple things like breathing to bigger processes like healing and fighting off infections and illnesses, energy is the thing that keeps us going.

So when we deprive our bodies of those vital calories, it goes into a natural survival mode and will begin storing fat reserves because of the drastic change in food availability. As a result, your metabolism slows down too, which directly hinders your body’s ability to burn calories.

Reverse dieting seeks to undo this damage and is focussed on boosting your metabolism. This level looks different to every individual, so it’s about working out what your body needs and then eating the right amount. Over time, your metabolism will increase and then your body will get better at burning calories – helping you to lose weight.

This process is all about getting your body working at its optimum performance level and giving you the tools to feel your best. When you reverse diet, you’ll feel the effect of so many benefits, including:

  • increased energy levels
  • liberation from diet culture
  • the ability to eat what you want without worrying about putting on weight
  • greater understanding of your body and its needs

So, what are you waiting for? Get started on your journey today by finding a reverse specialist.
