In recent years, green tourism and camping have been gaining a lot of traction. More and more people strive to escape buzzing cities at weekends and try to get out in nature for a couple of days. Camping is the best choice for such an occasion. Moreover, people make sure their camping experience is as comfortable as possible. When someone goes to a camping shop or any other store that sells tourist gear, they face a wide range of choices. If you choose camping as a way of taking some rest, your touristic gear should be quality and proof of any natural phenomena, especially when the weather is cold. Here we are talking about stuff like a hot tent and stove combo, a waterproof sleeping bag, etc.

Any camping store has also become extremely eco-friendly, especially when it comes to cooking. When cooking food in nature, anyone prefers to have easy-to-use and environmentally friendly tools. It becomes an urgent issue when weather conditions do not let you make a fire, and there is not enough wood nearby, or, even more, making a fire is not allowed in the area. That is when a wood stove for a hot tent is the choice!

Anyone who has been on a hike at least once knows how wonderful it is to sit by a campfire in nature in the evening and drink hot tea that has just been taken off the fire. Some people consider fire as a romantic part of each camping hike. Nevertheless, taking care of nature has become way more crucial nowadays. The camping stove combo is comfortable and lets you prepare food for any company, regardless of weather conditions and no matter the location you have chosen. It reminds preparing food at home – quickly and qualitatively. There is no need to look for wood or cut them to spend time making a fire. Instead, you make easily prepare anything you need during this time. Amazing, don’t you think? It saves not only nature but also your time, leaving you more space for actual rest.

When you decide to buy such a piece of equipment, the first thing you encounter is the variety of them. There are different shapes, sizes, purposes, etc. How do you choose the one you need for camping? Let us tackle this.

Tourist gas burners have indisputable advantages: they are convenient to use, light and compact, and work under any conditions and at any time of the year. A reliable tourist burner will always help you prepare food – whether you are on a picnic in the park or on the top of Everest.

Let’s try to figure out which burner to choose for a hike. All tourist burners can be divided into 3 types:

  • Gas burners and stoves;
  • Burners operating on liquid fuel;
  • Multi-fuel burners.

First things first, camping should be comfortable. That is why the stove you opt for should also be comfy for you. For these purposes, miniature tourist burners are unsuitable for hikers, where the main thing is not comfort but low weight and size. For campers who carry all their stuff in the car, such minimalism is of no use, especially since the reduction in weight and size leads to a decrease in the performance of the stove but also increases the price. The best choice for camping will be a portable tourist stove combo, which will allow you to safely install dishes with a large weight on them for the whole family. Such plates are of different designs:

  • in the form of a movable plate with a full-fledged burner, which is placed on a table or other stable surface and connected to a gas cylinder using a flexible hose or installation of small tourist cylinders directly in the body of the plate
  • a picnic gas burner – which is placed on the same gas cylinder as a tourist gas cylinder but has much more power.

For those who travel in a large company and one burner is not enough, you can take a stove for several burners at once. This design will allow you to cook several dishes at the same time, while you do not need to carry several different burners and cylinders to them.

But the stove will not work by itself. For this, you will need a gas cylinder. There are two variants of gas cylinders-cartridges. The first option is small disposable cylinders with a propane-butane mixture. They are used for hiking and mountaineering. Such cylinders have a small weight and size, and, of course, their cost is relatively high. The second option is refillable steel cylinders for camping. Their volume varies from 0.5 to 50 liters. You can fill up such cylinders at any gas station an unlimited number of times. In this case, you do not pay for the container every time, and the cost of cooking with such gas will be many times lower than with cylinders for hiking.

Another thing to consider is the capacity of the gas stove or burner. The power is indicated in the instructions for the burner at the WATT. Conventionally, the power can be determined by the size of the nozzle – the larger the nozzle, the more powerful the burner. Burners with a capacity of up to 2000 W are designed for 1-2 people and can boil up to 1 liter of water. Burners with a power of more than 2000 W suit a company of 3 or more people.

Conclusions

Now that you know the difference between burners, it will be easier for you to choose a travel burner. When selecting a tourist burner, you need to decide on the following parameters:

1. The number of people that the burner will serve (this parameter is affected by the power of the burner);

2. Weather conditions for using the burner (especially in the cold season);

3. Decide on the type of fuel for your burner (gas does not burn at a strong minus, and gasoline can be obtained even in the most remote corner of the planet);

Have you considered all of this? Then, feel free to choose what you need and advise others on how to pick a stove combo for camping.
