This pre-dinner cocktail is a great way to kick off a barbecue and brings out the flavours in spicy, grilled meat dishes.

We’re also loving the Johnnie & Elderflower. A simple, elegant and extremely summery cocktail. All recipes below.

Theodore Pictish Gin

The first release from Greenwood Distillers, Theodore is a new Scottish gin inspired by the spirit of the Picts, an ancient tribe that once settled near the brand’s home in the Northern Highlands.

Key botanicals include pomelo, pine, damask rose, honey and oolong tea, creating a fresh and elegant gin with a floral heart and warm, rich finish.

Simply serve as a T&T, Theodore & Tonic in a tall glass with a mix of herbs and apple slices to enjoy.

Feragaia Alcohol-Free Spirit

This brand new alcohol-free spirit is a delightful alternative to a boozey drink, and the team at Feragaia suggest that enjoying a glass on the rocks, or with a light tonic is the perfect match.
Feragaia is Scotland’s first premium alcohol-free spirit made from land and sea botanicals. It is progressively distilled, blended and bottled in the far reaches of the Scottish Lowlands.

True to its name, meaning ‘Wild Earth’, Feragaia (fer-a-guy-a) is a product, of windswept coastlines, open country and creative minds. Its character lends itself to a refreshing summer aperitif come rain or shine.

From a pallet perspective it opens with citrus from blackcurrant leaf, kaffir lime and lemon verbena. A drawn-out herbaceous body is then introduced with nuances of chamomile, pink peppercorn and seaweed. This takes you all the way to a light smokey note and lengthy, warming finish from cayenne pepper.

Available from Mac & Wild in London Fitzrovia and Devonshire Square, also via www.feragaia.com, priced at £23.99 (50cl).
