Here at House of Coco if you cut us in half you would see burgers running through our veins because we love them so much. So a whole day dedicated to the god of food is obviously something that we had to write about. National burger day is what dreams are made of and, not that we needed an excuse, it means we can eat them all day long without being judged.
We have put together a list of our fave joints to get your burger fix across the UK…
East 59th Leeds
D&D London’s latest edition to the Leeds culinary scene is offering a limited edition melt-in-the-middle cheeseburger.
Burger lovers of Leeds can relish the opportunity to try the restaurant’s New York-inspired creation, the ‘Meat the Big Brother’, which is made up of a juicy sirloin and rump cap burger minced with jalapeños and cheddar to create a melt in the middle centre, sandwiched in a brioche bun with house sauce, crisp gem lettuce, red onion, guacamole, jalapeno and tomato relish and smoked cheddar. The ‘Meat the Big Brother’ burger will only be available on August 24th and costs £13.50.
The meaty delight was created by East 59th’s Head Chef, James Bretnall-Bennett. He said: “To celebrate this year’s National Burger Day we wanted to create a burger of epic proportions!”
Galvin HOP, London Spitalfields
The Galvin Deluxe Burger – mouth-watering (£16.50)
The ultimate burger, the Galvin Deluxe Burger is a beautifully moist and meaty burger served in a golden poppy and sesame seed bun, with fresh lettuce, tomato, dill mayonnaise and 12-month aged Comte cheese, topped with a crispy fried pickle. Served with perfect crunchy, fat, fluffy fries – the ultimate burger!
Yellowfin Tuna Burger – a burger extravaganza (£21.50)
A perfectly seared Yellowfin tuna burger, topped with white cabbage slaw and avocado and served in a brioche bun with gourmet chips and watercress on the side – burger luxury!
The lip smacking burgers are the creation of Michelin-starred brothers, Chris and Jeff Galvin. Enjoy with a pint of Galvin HOP’s speciality Unpasteurized Pilsner Urquell, a Beer Cocktail or bubbles!
The healthy recipe box delivery service, has teamed with likeminded Hally’s, a Californian-inspired restaurant located in Parsons Green, to create “The Mindful Burger”.
Like Mindful Chef, Hally’s serves locally sourced and ethical produce whenever possible. Packed with lean and sustainably sourced ingredients, “The Mindful Burger” will be made using only ingredients which are healthy and nutritious.
Myles Hopper, co-founder of Mindful Chef comments: “We’ve really enjoyed collaborating with Hally’s to create, what we feel to be, the most Mindful Burger in London! The Mindful Burger is packed full of health-boosting ingredients such as immune system and digestion aiding rich fermented miso paste, fibre filled Portobello mushrooms, also packed with B vitamins, and sweet potato crisps for your hit of beta-carotene. All essential for a healthy immune system!”
Full of flavour, “the Mindful Burger” will be available on National Burger Day.
Señor Ceviche is a lively Peruvian restaurant with sites in both Carnaby and Charlotte Street, serving fresh ceviches, fiery Peruvian BBQ dishes, and punchy pisco cocktails.
For National Burger Day they will be serving their innovative and delectable Nikkei Burger – a tuna and sesame patty in a sweet potato bun, with crunchy soft shell crab, spicy truffle aji amarillo mayo, and Peruvian pickles!
The Vurger Co.
The Vurger Co is a 100% plant based burger company looking to revolutionise fast food through the power of plants. They will be celebrating National Burger Day with with their Vanilla Black Vurger. A collaboration burger with Chef Andrew Dargue, the Vanilla Black Vurger is a play on Tikka Masala the well-known and well-loved dish in the UK. A Tikka Masala curry patty is topped with candied chilli and mint yoghurt. The Vurger Co will be serving up this delight at the Pillbox Kitchen for one day only on National Burger Day alongside a one off to die for completely plant-based cheesecake!
Jude’s Ice Cream Parlour
Hampshire based ice cream makers, Jude’s ice cream have created “The Black Coconut Ice Cream Burger”.
Each burger will be made using the latest flavour to join the Jude’s family, Instagram sensation Black Coconut, sandwiched between a toasted, black brioche bun. The burger will be finished with freshly sliced mango, a lime juice glaze and coconut curls.
The Jude’s Black Coconut Burger will be available at The Jude’s Ice Cream Parlour at the Pear Tree Café in Battersea Park from Thursday 24th August until Monday 29th August, priced at £6.
