An exciting fashion show took place recently in York, North Yorkshire. Country Muse, The Runway event, organised by Femme Country Magazine was held at De Grey Rooms, in York city centre. We sent our writer, Rachel McAlley along to enjoy the show, have a glass of fizz, and mingle with the guests.
I entered the De Grey Rooms and was welcomed with a glass of champagne, which was a great way to start the evening. I took the stairs to the first floor where there was a pre-show soiree with boutique shopping experience. It gave me a chance to view and potentially buy some items from the unique country-style collections.
Country Muse Boutique Shopping

The boutique shopping room was packed with the latest trends in autumn and winter fashion. Country brands like Waring Brooke, Maude & Fox, and Spanish Boot Co. to name a few. They sat alongside Ginny D Jewellery and The Wardrobe Resell, which is a store on the outskirts of York specialising in authentic pre-loved designer items.
I met some of the team from Femme Country Magazine, who were on hand to advise on where to purchase the clothing, jewellery, and footwear.
The Country Muse Runway show itself was in the Ballroom and was designed with delicate floral arrangements by Sophie & Bee, pretty seating, and ambient lighting. I found my front row seat next to the runway and enjoyed looking in the complimentary gift bag that every guest received. It was filled with things from Jo Malone, Molton Brown, Seaweed Crisps, Iced Coffee, The York Skin Clinic, and Country Femme Magazine.
Country Muse, The Runway Show

Once the show began, the models wore designs from all the previously-mentioned companies alongside brands including Welligogs, Etton Taylor, Chalbury, and Parsley & Twine. It was a stunning runway show with models from all across the UK showcasing this season’s latest trends from hats and scarves, to jackets and boots. Every element of country-style was included with warm wools, designer dresses, and tall boots making an appearance. There was knitted, velvet, and leather products, all ideal for this time of year.
Stylish outfits that were beautifully fitted, worked perfectly in seasonal colours like browns, terracotta, deep greens, and beige. There was something for everyone including casual-wear, formal dresses, and general country muse attire.
I found a number of new brands that I hadn’t heard of previously, which are now on my radar including Waring Brooke and Welligogs. I’m partial to a beautiful scarf (or two), and I adore a wonderful knit, especially in the colder months of autumn and winter. As I live in the country myself (4 miles from my nearest shop), it’s always a great idea to wear boots and a seasonal jacket, so both of these brands are perfect for my life.

The Editor-in-Chief of Femme Country, Brontë Clare Mitchell gave an enlightening speech before the show and again post-show to promote each brand for all their outstanding designs. Each model was also given a shout-out for all their hard work in working tirelessly on the Country Muse runway, along with all the backstage team including, makeup artists, hair stylists, and creative team.
The Country Muse fashion show was an excellent event, which you could tell took months of planning in order for it to be such a well put together show. As a guest, it was great to see different models take to the runway, all shapes, sizes, skin tones, and ages walked down the runway. Being a female-led magazine, I could see that Femme Country made sure that everyone was represented during the show.
