Creative Spotlight : Studio Cuze

Cúze launched her studio so that she could expand on her passion for ceramics. Here, she chats to us at House of Coco about her brand, plans for the future and more…
Tell us a bit about your journey to getting where you are today?
I leant about ceramics during my time at ISHOKEN – Tajimi City Pottery Design and Technical Centre and their design course and ceramic lab. I’d already decided to go to Berlin after my graduation even before I started to study ceramics. So a year after graduation I came to Berlin.
What has been your highlight since launching the brand?
Meeting all the kind people who support what I do.

Describe the brand in 3 words?
Minimal, delectable, modern.

We love that you are well travelled, where is your favourite place on the planet?
Rio de Janeiro. Would love to visit again!
Tell us about your ideal customer?
Someone who makes daily use my ceramics with care.

Tell us what a typical day in your life looks like?
After a day working in the studio, I’ll maybe take a walk on my home or enjoy a beer in the park.

Who/what inspires you?
Scenery and experimental music.

Are there any sources you go for support with running your business?
From the stores and cafes which stock my ceramics.

What are your plans for the brand in 2016?
I’m going to concentrate on some new product ideas.
Did you always know that one day you would be an entrepreneur?
Yes, pretty much. But during my teens and twenties, I just spent all my energy in things I was into at that particular time.

For people aspiring to run their own company, what advice would you give?

I’m sure its been said many times before; the longer you continue doing something, the more proficient you become.
