Cuckoo Bircher Muesli – Our New Fave Way to Greet the New Day

Here at House of Coco, we love an excuse to sit down with a decent breakfast, greeting each new day in the healthiest, happiest way we can. With its filling and delicious combo of oats, yoghurt, crunchy seeds and fruit, what better way to do this than with a lovingly made bowl of Cuckoo bircher muesli?!

Chocingredients

The HOC gang has been gleefully munching our way through the range of five on-the-go flavours – Great Taste Award-winning Apple & Cinnamon Spice and Mango & Coconut, as well as the mighty Elderflower & Cranberry, Apricot & Madagascan Vanilla and our personal favourite, Choco Sour Cherry.

With an average of 236 calories per pot, Cuckoo Bircher muesli is low-GI, a great source of fibre and protein and is sweetened with fruit sugars only. The on-the-go pots are brilliantly satisfying for a hassle-free breakfast, a handy afternoon pick-me-up before the gym or as a wholesome dessert!

What makes us fall in love with Cuckoo that little bit more is that Co-Founders Lucy Wright and Anna Mackenzie are best of friends, having met at school. They first tried Bircher muesli on a trip to Switzerland and instantly loved it. A few years later, the summer they both graduated from University, Anna’s mum became a Bircher addict herself – this was the light bulb moment. Together they developed a rich and satisfying recipe that was too delicious and unique not to set their sights sky high.

Scrapping the well-trodden path of the internship and ‘9 to 5’, Lucy and Anna put their minds to creating a beautiful, engaging food brand on graduating, and, two years into production, their friendship and business have never been stronger. Not only did the pair achieve a listing with London’s leading department store, Selfridges at the very beginning of their journey, they have now won their way into Waitrose, Tesco and Ocado and Lucy and Anna have been named Forbes’s 30 Under 30 to watch in 2016, becoming a national brand well on its way to becoming a household name.

Find Cuckoo on the shelves at Tesco, Waitrose, Selfridges, Daylesford Organic and Ocado at a pocket-friendly £1.50 – trust us, you’ll never go back to sawdust-based muesli again!
