Claritone design and produce luxury leather bags which are inspired by the Jazz spirit and its icons. Their accessories are handmade by finest craftsmen in France and we just can’t get enough of them here at House of Coco.
We spent some time with Marie-Caroline, the founder of the brand, to find out more…
When did you launch the brand and what was the reason behind it?
I started the project in July 2014 and launched the Claritone brand this fall. Claritone is the perfect mix from the heritage of my family story (Selmer musical Instruments) and my passion for design and fine crafts. I wanted to pay homage to the Saxophone and portray the Jazz spirit (spontaneity, liberty and sensuality) into the leather good world.
Whats your background?
I studied law and worked as in-house counsel for 4 years before quitting to start a new chapter in my life. I finally allowed myself to live my passions and create the label that I always dreamed of.
What is the hardest challenge you have faced since you started the company?
Definitely, being a self-taught in the leather good world! I have learnt my new job from the tanners, weavers, leather workers who trusted me and are still supporting me today. I feel so grateful for that.
2016 is almost here, where do you plan on taking the brand?
Most of all, prepare the next AW 16 collection, open my first store hopefully in 2016, develop the brand abroad, and finally have my clients discover the richness of Claritone’s universe.
To date, what has been the highlight since launching?
I think it is the time I received the first prototype of the Nina bag, I have worked so much on this piece…It dates the beginning of this magical adventure.
Which city do you feel most at home in, London, Paris or New York?
I feel at home in Paris but I would leave everything to move in New-York, this city is so special to me. My husband lived there during 2 years before we married and we have many memories in NY.

The radiant touch of Yves Saint Laurent, the Ultimune Shiseido Serum to keep my skin smooth and my red-lipstick from Benefit (LP69)!
A style that fits your personality, pieces that make you beautiful, not only fashionable.
Best thing about London to you?
The energy, the people, so many quarters, so many atmospheres.
I love the London women approach to fashion, more spontaneous, always testing different styles.

Statement bag, my Claritone bag of course!
If you had to, what item from your wardrobe would you wear every day?
The Duke bag, classy with both casual and smart outfits, and so easy-to-wear with its detachable strap.

My funny Valentine, from Chet Baker
Best place for a coffee?
“La Boulangerie Bon Matin” near Finsbury Park, best place to grab a coffee and a delicious cake!

Do everything with passion to have no regrets.
Chocolate, an everyday guilty pleasure to me!
If you could spent 24 hours anywhere in the world, where would it be?
In Zanzibar, I’m dreaming to visit this Island.
In future, how do you plan on expanding the company?
Develop my line of handbags (a fourth piece is on the way!), open my own shop in Paris and maybe launch a line of travel bags!
Where can people find out more?
On my website www.claritone-paris.com (the e-shop will be open in November) and in my pop-up store in Paris (21 rue Saint-Roch 75001) during the Christmas season!
