When did you launch the brand and what was the reason behind it?
The brand was launched in 2013. I gave birth to my child a few years before and I started sewing babies clothes. My friends wanted similar ones and friends of friends, then shops wanted it as well so I had to start my business to sell them in boutiques.
Whats your background?
I am from Poland. I graduated from Multimedia Communication Faculty at Academy of Fine Arts in Poznan. I hold a master’s degree in philology, specialization in middle-east languages and literature. I admired old fairy-tales from my childhood, and I had an opportunity to read poetry full of wonderful adventures, silk and asphodel. I made a course of fashion design, pattern-making at MSKPU- International School of Costume and Fashion Design.
How many people are involved in the company and what are their roles?
We are 3. I work closely with my wonderful seamstress. I design, draft patterns, cut out sewing pattern pieces, take photos, provide social media. My dressmaker sews everything I cut, finishes clothes. The third person is a web developer and web magician. I work with local manufacturer of knitwears, fabric and prints, seamstresses, illustrators, writers, distributors of packages, an accountants and so on.
If you could start over with the business, would you do anything differently?
I would start it earlier.
What is the hardest challenge you have faced since you started the company?
Work and family balance. It is difficult to stop the work and to set boundaries.
Tell us one fact about you that people wouldn’t know?
I would like to raise the status and popularity of literature by fashion trampoline. A literature, which reveal important values to slow, think.
2017 is here, where do you plan on taking the brand?
I’m thinking about 2018 now. I signed a contract with a writer Katarzyna Wasilkowska, who writed fairy-tale especially for Samodobro-fairytailor brand. I am discussing the details with an illustrator Joanna Gniady, who will design patterns for the new collection. I am very excited, because I had an opportunity to talk with ambassadors in Denmark, Germany and France and we will represent Polish concept of mixing fashion, literature and design in those countries during important cultural events.
To date, what has been the highlight since launching?
Samodobro was featured in British Vogue and Glamour.
Which city do you feel most at home in, London Paris or New York?
I feel home with my family and the loved ones.
Three beauty products you can’t leave the house without?
Recently it’s a red lipstick and Azazello’s cream ☺

To be master what you are doing in.

If you could spent 24 hours in anywhere in the world, where would it be?
Somewhere, where is so warm, I could pick sweet fruits from trees, but not warm enough to meet snake.
In the future, how do you plan on expanding the company?
I am working on a vlog which will reveal interesting connection between fashion and literature.
I am planning cooperation with writers and illustrators from Poland and other countries, preparing collections based on fairy-tales from different cultures for specific markets and organizing events, which will popularize literature.
