MiMi Mei Fair is one of those rare finds that feels like you’ve stumbled into a secret — the perfect place to experience a festive tasting menu. From the outside, it’s an elegant townhouse; step inside and you’re transported into a cosy, chic, intimate space. With its deep red leather booths, mosaic floors, teal, and timber panels, and subtle brass details, the décor is elegant and stylish.

We sent our Wellness Editor, Anji McGrandles, to try the festive tasting menu and let’s just say, she wasn’t disappointed.

MiMi Mei Fair is one of those rare finds in the heart of Mayfair that manages to feel both exclusive and genuinely welcoming. With its deep red leather booths, mosaic floors, teal timber panels, and subtle brass details, the setting alone makes it a worthy destination for a special festive meal. The festive tasting menu takes a modern Chinese approach to seasonal dining, with shareable dim sum starters, bold and comforting mains, and a Winter Berry Cheesecake that rounds things off beautifully. At £88 per person, it is an indulgent but considered way to celebrate the season with friends, family, or a date.

Why MiMi Mei Fair Is the Perfect Spot for a Festive Meal in London

What sets MiMi Mei Fair apart from other festive dining options in London is the balance it strikes between atmosphere, food quality, and service. The cocktail list is as carefully considered as the menu, with Asian-inspired twists on classics that complement the food perfectly. Service is attentive without being intrusive, and the pacing of the meal allows for genuine conversation between courses, something that feels rare during the busy festive season. Whether you are tucked into one of the private dining rooms upstairs or settled into a booth, the intimate feel of the space makes every visit feel like a hidden gem discovery.

The Vibe

The first thing that hits you is how intimate the space feels. Even in bustling Mayfair, the townhouse absorbs the city’s noise, creating a relaxed, welcoming vibe that makes you want to settle in for the night. Whether you’re tucked into a booth or seated at one of the private dining rooms upstairs, it’s the perfect spot for a festive meal with friends, family, or a first date. And while the place feels exclusive, its not stuffy or intimidating.

The Festive Tasting Menu

The menu is an indulgent take on modern Chinese flavours, perfect for the festive season. And let’s not skip over the drinks — the cocktail list is as elegant as the setting, with Asian-inspired twists on the classics. The wine list is extensive but approachable, featuring well-chosen bottles from Europe and beyond. Whether you’re after a crisp white or a bold red, there’s something to pair with each dish.

My date and I kicked off our evening with one of their mini cocktails. He went for the Mini Noir (vodka, coffee liqueur, espresso, vanilla) which was rich and smooth, basically a dessert in a glass. I had an Eastern Blossom (gin, jasmine liqueur, cranberry, lemon) which was lighter and fragrant, refreshing, and a little zingy.

The festive tasting menu starts with a selection of dim sum and sides for sharing. The tempura green beans with black truffle were crisp and addictive, the kind of dish you want to keep stealing from the table. The King Prawn Har Gau were plump and juicy; the BBQ Duck Bao was soft, sweet, and smoky; and the Prawn Spring Roll had a perfectly crisp shell with a tender, tasty filling. It was a generous, shareable starter plate that combined a good mix of flavours and textures.

A selection of Dim Sum

The mains balanced comfort and bold flavours beautifully. The Clay Pot Black Bean Aubergine was rich, savoury, and slightly spicy. I’ll be honest I didn’t fancy a vegetarian dish, but this was outstanding. The General Tso’s Chicken was sticky, tangy, and had just the right amount of heat. Wok-Tossed Autumn Greens (baby pak choi, snow pea, tender stem, asparagus & courgette) were simple, fresh, and a welcome alternative to the richer mains. And the Olive Fried Rice with olive leaves, black olives, and asparagus was surprisingly moreish and went well with the aubergine main.

To finish, the Winter Berry Cheesecake hit the sweet spot, creamy but not heavy, tart berries, soft meringue, and a gentle ginger crunch that added a festive twist. It was light, satisfying, and the perfect way to round off the meal.

The Service

Service at MiMi Mei Fair deserves a mention on its own. Attentive without being intrusive, friendly without being fawning, the team guided us through the festive tasting menu, suggested wine pairings, and made sure every course arrived at the perfect pace. In a busy festive season, that’s a rare find and meant we had plenty of time to chat in between courses.
