Decadent Dolomites: Wellness & Renewal at ADLER Spa Resort DOLOMITI

Discover ADLER Spa Resort DOLOMITI in Northern Italy. Experience alpine wellness, luxury spa rituals, and year-round relaxation in the heart of the Dolomites.

When you think of spa-cations, maybe you think of tropical islands: Bali, Mauritius, Tahiti, and Hawaii. But one of Europe’s best-kept wellness secrets is the Dolomites spa resort experience at ADLER Spa Resorts in Northern Italy, where alpine air meets world-class spa rituals.

For those who  haven’t  heard of the Dolomites, It is the majestic mountain range along northern Italy that provides a natural border between Austria and Italy. If you are a tennis fan, you would probably know that Jannik Sinner is from the South Tyrol (Südtirol) area of Northern Italy. In February 2026, Milano Cortina will host world’s top athletes during the Winter Olympic games. Now, more than ever is a fabulous time to visit the Dolomites. But why exactly should the Dolomites land on your radar for a spa-cation?

ADLER Spa Resort DOLOMITI: Europe’s Most Underrated Wellness Destination

When most people picture a spa-cation, tropical islands tend to come to mind first. But ADLER Spa Resort DOLOMITI in Northern Italy is quietly making the case that the Dolomites deliver one of Europe’s finest wellness experiences, and with the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics bringing global attention to the region, there has never been a better time to visit. Set in Ortisei, the family-owned resort combines luxury alpine spa facilities with year-round outdoor activities, from hiking trails and mountain biking to skiing as the season arrives. The ratio of space to guests ensures that relaxation is never compromised, even during peak times.

Spa Rituals, Mindful Dining, and Alpine Air on Every Side

The spa program at ADLER DOLOMITI goes far beyond standard facials and massages. Highlights include the traditional Aufguss steam ritual in the Lakeside Finnish sauna, dry cold Cryotherapy sessions, guided breathwork, and a women’s-only sauna area that offers genuine sanctuary. Head chef Martino Longo leads a kitchen philosophy built on flavour, vitality, and accessibility, creating menus designed to fuel mountain adventures without ever feeling restrictive. Accessible from Verona or Innsbruck with a two-hour drive, this Italian mountain spa resort offers a secluded alpine escape that feels genuinely restorative from the moment you arrive.

All season spa resort

It should not be shocking that the Dolomites are just as pretty in the winter, as they are in the summer and fall. I had the pleasure of staying at the family-owned ADLER Spa Resort DOLOMITI, a luxury alpine spa retreat in Ortisei, before the first snowfall of the year. There are plenty of activities to keep you occupied during this shoulder season. Think hiking trails, climbing the original via Ferreta’s paths, mountain biking, and of course, enjoying the phenomenal spa facilities.

ADLER Spa Resort DOLOMITI boasts an intensive spa and medical program. Besides the standard facials and massages, the spa offers health promotion experiences like dry, cold Cryotherapy and mindfulness practices like Qigong and guided breath-work sessions. My favorite part of the expansive spa was the variety of saunas and steam rooms available, including a women’s only area.

I had the pleasure of joining a traditional European steam ritual called Aufguss. Incorporating both essential oil fragrant steam and a towel-waving technique, guests are treated to a multisensory experience in the Lakeside Finnish sauna. The 10-minute experience is set to music and has themes. It is one of the most popular nightly rituals performed three times a night.

Tailored to your needs

While most resorts will corner off areas and create adult-only zones, ADLER Spa Resorts takes it one step further. Honoring their guests’ rest, relaxation and privacy, separate resorts are dedicated for the exclusivity of families with children, such as the AKI Family Resort PLOSE. At PLOSE, children can take part in cooking, arts and crafts, skiing, and alpaca hikes, among other activities. Extreme effort is made to make all guests welcomed and each member a part of the Adler family.

I noticed as I walked around the resort grounds, the ratio of physical space to spa resort guests is high. Meaning, besides meal hours and prime sauna/steam times, you will not feel inundated with people or feel like your relaxation is compromised in some way.

ADLER Spa Resort BALANCE (connected to DOLOMITI) is dedicated to adults on medical treatment plans for weight loss/nutrition, detox, and stress management, making it one of the most comprehensive wellness resorts in the Dolomites. On our last night at the resort, we had a wonderful meal at BALANCE’s healthy, sophisticated restaurant.

ADLER DOLOMITI’s head chef, Martino Longo, along with the team, continuously create menus full of flavour and vitality, guaranteed to fuel the most challenging outdoor activity. “The goal is to maintain a cuisine that’s easily understandable and accessible to all, even those who may be tasting certain ingredients for the first time,” explains Longo. “We want to invite guests to discover our flavours, without forcing them, but rather guiding them naturally on a gastronomic journey that’s engaging yet not invasive,” says Longo.

Location is everything

The journey to a spa resort can often be half the adventure. Once I travelled to Mauritius from the west coast of North America, I took two red-eye flights that were approx 10 hours each. By the time I made it to the resort, I wanted to pass out at dinner and spend half of the next day recharging in a cabana by the Indian Ocean. (Note from writer: Yes, I realize it could be worse).

Nestled within the Dolomites, ADLER Spa Resorts give you space and privacy, while still being accessible. Easily accessible from airports in Verona, Italy or Innsbruck, Austria, followed by a 2-hour car ride, this Italian mountain spa resort is a convenient yet secluded alpine escape.

Alternatively, you can take a train from Milan into Verona and then onto Bolzano, Bressanone, Chiusa, or Ponte Gardena which are all smaller cities en route to Ortesi. From there, guests can take a bus or a car up to an ADLER property.

At ADLER Spa Resorts, every detail is designed to restore balance, from alpine adventures to mindful rituals. All with a touch of Italian hospitality. Whether you seek rejuvenation, refined indulgence, or a luxury Dolomites spa holiday, ADLER Spa Resorts delivers wellness at new heights.
