Sandals Royal Barbados is a place that we hold dear to our hearts here at House of Coco, which you might have read about in our recent article. As if we hadn’t given you enough reasons why this destination should be right at the top of your bucket list, here’s five more…

Location

The resort is on Dover Beach, right next to the original Sandals resort. It is a pristine luxurious sandy escape where the Atlantic meets the Caribbean Sea.The sun shines from a clear blue sky and a gentle ocean breeze makes it wonderfully comfortable. The brochure says ‘Barbados invites you to surrender to the calypso rhythms of paradise’ and that is exactly what it feels like – paradise.

The Resort

Sandals Royal Barbados promises the royal treatment. The result is the relatively new all suite accommodation. This new resort also has new features of a rooftop pool bar, and even a four-lane bowling alley. For those of us with a sweet tooth, and that includes us, there is the first gourmet doughnut shop.

The accommodation

There are 272 suites in the Sandals Royal Barbados all-suite resort and they include Skypool suites, swim up suites and millionaire suites. The suites are all magnificent and if budget allows, some even feature a butler service. From the crisp bed linen to the top quality curtains that close to keep the light out for those precious lie-ins, Sandals Royal Suites are the very last word in luxury.

The food

A really important part of any holiday for us are leisurely meals and with seven restaurants to choose from you’ll be spoiled for choice. The American Tavern and Chi Asian offerings at Sandals Royal Barbados are something new to enjoy. The rooftop restaurants look out over the sea and are a magical place to spend those romantic evenings. A walk on the shore afterwards with the sea gently lapping on the beach under a star-studded sky is a fabulous way to end the night.

The activities

We love snorkelling and swimming and in the clear blue waters of the resort it was heaven on earth – or in sea, maybe! We even tried paddle boarding! There are all sorts of activities to try like golf and even tennis which can be played under the stars. We loved sitting on the beach at sunset listening to the monkeys playing in the trees. We booked an Island tour through the resort via Island Routes that we really enjoyed that was a real insight to life outside the resort.

If you are thinking about booking a holiday at Sandals Royal Barbados, we really only have one piece of advice and that is just do it!
