Forget Black Friday Fatigue! Shop Christmas in Style with One Aldwych Hotel, Covent Garden

The House of Coco gang’s eyes have gone into full googly mode from a weekend of Black Friday weekend shopping but, to really get that festive feeling, it’s high time we padded the well-trodden streets of Central London in a quest for the perfect Christmas frock and for just the thing for mum! Our hotel of choice for a beautiful staycation shopping weekend is the elegant One Aldwych Hotel, in the heart of London’s shopping and theatre districts, Covent Garden.

Not only is the location PERF to yoink all of your Christmas staples, you’re also ideally situated for the beautiful plays, ballets and operas of Covent Garden – with a whopping 15 theatres in walking distance – what could make you feel more festive than dinner and a show!

After all that traipsing around town, you’ll be sure to be in need of a libation or three, guests are warmly greeted in the Lobby Bar by a magical snowy white Christmas tree. Designed by the hotel’s resident florist Mark Siredzuk, the towering 25 foot tree is adorned with 130 shimmering birdhouses, each with white sparkling dogwood branches, frosty asparagus fern and hundreds of that perennial Christmas card pin-up, the sweet red-breasted robin – it’s a magical winter’s wonderland with a bonus extra of exquisite festive cocktails!

Start the party season with a sparkle in One Aldwych’s Indigo restaurant. Chef Dominic’s tantalising festive lunch and dinner menus in December include dishes such as Confit duck terrine, candied clementine and marinated beetroot followed by Tenderloin of Suffolk pork, braised cheeks, crispy potato and red cabbage.  Equally decadent are desserts such as Milk chocolate mousse and preserved cherries. For those who want to sit back and relax on Chrimble day, Indigo serves a special lunch and evening menu on Christmas Day, as well as an exclusive private party menu and a sensational five-course New Year’s Eve menu – p.a.r.t.y.

The cherry on top of the rather slendiferous cake is the hotel’s glorious subterranean spa, guests are immediately greeted with a gorgeous waft on incense, draped in comfy robes and slippers and handed fresh cucumber water, before plunging into the 18 metre chlorine-free swimming pool with underwater music, steam room and sauna – or visiting the many wonderful massage therapists for a treatment that will leave you putty in their hands!

Tuck in to afternoon tea, restorative spa treatments, beautifully crafted cocktails and a slap up dinner, before hitting the downy and remarkably peaceful Central London pillow at One Aldwych, London WC2B 4BZ
