By my second day at Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok, I realised I had absolutely no desire to see Bangkok. Not because the city lacked intrigue, but because the hotel itself felt like a welcoming sanctuary with everything I needed for a relaxing getaway, cocooned in river views, jasmine-scented air, and extraordinary service.

The open-plan layout offered a spacious bathroom with a floorstanding tub, a double marble vanity unit and a separate rainfall shower.
Leading into the bedroom that felt effortlessly sophisticated, centred around a sumptuous king-size bed and an inviting chaise nestled in the corner. A generous writing desk added a practical touch without compromising the room’s sense of refinement. Tucked discreetly away, the minibar was stocked with premium beverages, fine teas and complimentary gourmet snacks, lending an extra layer of indulgence to the stay.
I sat upon the elegant daybed looking out onto the views of the Chao Phraya River as the sky turned from light to dark, sipping iced tea in my oversized spa bathrobe, feeling tranquil, comfortable and deeply relaxed in a city that never sleeps.
If I had chosen to, I could easily have spent the entirety of my stay within the confines of the Premier Riverview Room alone. One step ahead, Four Seasons provides an in-room tablet for guest enquiries, information and services such as shoe polishing, laundry, and room dining, meaning I had everything I needed at my convenience.
One evening, after spending the day relaxing at the outdoor infinity pools set by the river, I craved comfort and rest, indulging in an avocado club sandwich from the softness of my bed. There is a curated programme of daily guest activities, including yoga, ice baths, and traditional jasmine garland making, incorporating the surroundings of Thai culture and wellness into the luxury of the Four Seasons. I participated in the Thai Yo Dom inhaler making class, crushing together crystalline compounds and natural herbs to create an infusion with a fresh mint aroma designed to relieve stress and prevent headaches and nausea.

I wandered through a vibrant art gallery within the grounds, showcasing contemporary Thai artwork with vivid colours and striking splashes of paint, which led to the riverfront from the lobby.
Evenings by the River
For evenings when I wanted to venture outside of my sanctuary, I headed to BKK Social Club, an award-winning destination cocktail bar where Latin American glamour meets Thai hospitality. As I entered, the bar area glowed softly in contrast to the dim room, its backlit shelves of bottles casted a warm, amber haze across the space, while discreet table lamps pooled onto each intimate setting.
I was greeted by a delicate, crispy taco and a sweet miniature drink to begin with. The Mexican-inspired cocktail menu offered a glimpse into the country’s dynamic spirit and lively atmosphere. I savoured the Tepache mocktail made up of pineapple, brown sugar and spices, with a sweet but aromatic touch, paying true testament to Mexico’s vibrant history.
After a delightful evening sipping Mexican cocktails, I wandered across to the hotel’s Michelin-Recommended Italian restaurant, Riva Del Fiume. Sitting by the river, in an intimate setting, with al fresco dining and twinkling lights, it captured the neon river cruises that passed by.
The four-course tasting menu by Chef Andrea Accordi took me on a journey through the best of the season. Inspired by memory, every dish evokes the beauty of the present and comfort of the past.
It began simply, with warm, freshly baked bread and Sicilian olive oil, before giving way to a tasting menu of intricate savoury bites, each one so delicately composed it felt almost too beautiful to eat. The handmade ravioli del plin al cinghiale was a standout – delicately filled with wild boar ragout and robiola, lifted with sunchoke, caper leaves and pecorino fondatore. Each bite melted effortlessly.
Before dessert arrived, a handcrafted lemon gelato was presented to cleanse the palate, offering a bright, refreshing pause before the indulgence of torta di nocciola. I have rarely experienced a dessert quite like it – the softness of the hazelnut cake paired with freshly whipped cream, prepared tableside, and a contrasting hazelnut ice cream with a delicate crunch. Together, they formed a beautifully balanced finale.
