Health guru of goop.com, Gwyneth Paltrow, has cultivated her own personal juice detox that includes the use of lemon juice to shed those additional pounds, actress Jennifer Anniston has said she begins her day with “a glass of freshly squeezed lemon juice to flush out her body” and both Claudia Schiffer and Victoria Secret model Miranda Kerr start their day with water, lemon and ginger juices, relying on the power of lemon to help maintain their figures, glorious skin and their youthful complexion!

Most of us think eating slower and with smaller meals can encompass this function. Undoubtedly, it does help. But what lemon juice does is flush out unwanted materials and toxins from the body. It’s composition is similar to saliva and hydrochloric acid of digestive juices. This means that the liver produces more bile, which is the useful acid that is required for digestion.
