From bike to boardroom: tailor creates UK’s first cycling business suit

Following the Tour de France, a tailor has created the ultimate in cycling wear for businessmen.

Rather than lycra cycling shorts and tight fitting t-shirts, Owen Scott Bespoke Tailors, based in Leeds and Huddersfield, has solved the common wardrobe dilemma faced by business commuters by offering an altogether smarter alternative that takes them from bike to boardroom with no change required.

The Tour de France Cycling Suit, £495, is described as fashionable with a contemporary fit. It even comes with a padded double seat / crotch for added comfort on the saddle.

The lining is an eye-catching yellow to tie in with the symbolic Tour de France jersey, while detachable florescent pocket flaps, trouser turn ups and back collar provide vital road visibility in darker conditions.  The armhole is lowered for arm reach, ideal for cyclists, with a built in action shoulder for comfort when riding. The trouser fit has been made narrow for extra cycling safety.

The revolutionary suit is an ideal composition and construction for wear in extremes of heat and humidity, keeping its shape perfectly. It is half lined for breathability and comfort, with a button tab fastener for wind protection. The suit is finished with Nanobloc, which forms a high performance stain resistance around the fibres of the fabric, meaning the luxury soft feel of the cloth isn’t compromised. Liquids simply bead up and roll off, keeping fabrics looking newer for longer.

Scott Hufton, director at Owen Scott, explains: “We’ve been gripped by the Tour de France and with so many more businessmen taking to their bikes as a result, I wanted to design something that would suit their active lifestyle, which was smart, contemporary and could take them straight to the office environment. This suit is new ground for tailoring and ticks all the boxes.”

The Owen Scott Tour de France Suit costs £495 and is available in 36 different colour patterns. Visit or call 0113 2 446 091 to make enquiries.
