Here at House of Coco we love food. We love exploring and experiencing different cuisines all over the world and testing our tastebuds to the max. However, if you are travelling or a living abroad, sometimes, you just want that little taste of home.
Sydney is famous for many things, but roast dinners are not one of them and with so many Brits living in the city, it is actually a surprising struggle to come across a proper decent roast dinner. Fear not, because we stumbled across a hidden gem tucked away in the back streets of the CBD with a reputation for one of the best roast dinners around. HOORAY! The pub in question is The Duke of Clarence; an 18th century-inspired pub, reminiscent of days gone by with a menu and interior so authentically British you could mistakenly think you were in an old London tavern.
Mikey Enright and Julian Train are the brains behind the boozer; with Enright hailing from the UK, he always wanted to create a place that reminded him of a good old English pub with a classic English menu to match. Wow, what a success! Everything within The Duke of Clarence is from the UK – you will find all traditional furnishings throughout with cask ales, Guinness on tap and European wine. It is a must-visit for any roast dinner craving ex-pat and offers a very authentic experience.
Onto the food… melt-in-our-mouth-just-bloody-fantastic! It is as simple as that. The Sunday roast menu kicks off with the popular beef and chicken options while also providing veggie options too. You can add pigs in blankets to your main for an extra $2, which is absolute must. If you decide to head down and not sample the roast dinner then you’re in for a treat too. The menu boasts numerous Brit-inspired dishes and whether you’re in the mood for classic fish and chips or a tasty scotch egg, our betting is, you won’t be disappointed!
Get the diary out guys because this is one place you’ll want to tick off your list. Especially if you’re a Brit living down under! Enjoy.
