Two years after our first visit, TeamCocopup Charlie and I returned to see if this East London favourite still lives up to its reputation as the best dog-friendly hotel in Shoreditch. Spoiler alert: it doesn’t just hold up — it’s even better.

There are some hotels that leave an impression — and then there’s Hart Shoreditch. Two years after our first visit, TeamCocopup Charlie and I returned to see if this East London favourite still lives up to its reputation as the best dog-friendly hotel in Shoreditch. Spoiler alert: it doesn’t just hold up — it’s even better.

From the moment we stepped through the doors, we were welcomed like old friends. And yes, Charlie strutted in like he owned the place. Hart Shoreditch hasn’t just maintained its pet-friendly charm — it’s elevated it in all the best ways.

The hotel generously upgraded us to a junior suite, and our room was just as chic and serene as I remembered. Think soft greys, warm rose-gold accents, and oversized windows that flood the space with natural light. The bed was outrageously comfy — I know because I only got half of it. Charlie immediately claimed the rest, sprawling out like royalty.

Hart goes beyond basic pet hospitality. Waiting in the room was a plush dog bed so big and comfy that Charlie barely moved all evening. A stylish water bowl and a pack of tasty treats completed the welcome. This is not one of those hotels that ticks a box for being dog-friendly — this is a place that truly celebrates canine companions.

The hotel even asked me beforehand what wine I preferred, with a bottle of crisp, buttery Chardonnay waiting for me upon arrival.

Dining at UBA: Flavour, Flair, and Four-Legged Friends Welcome

UBA London is a delightful Pan-Asian restaurant with style to spare

Let’s talk about UBA, Hart’s bold Pan-Asian restaurant that has taken over the ground floor — and stolen my heart. It’s a moody, opulent space that feels part Tokyo jazz bar, part underground supper club. Think deep reds, gold detailing, plush velvet banquettes, and glowing lanterns that set the scene before you’ve even picked up the menu.

And yes — dogs are not just allowed, they are welcomed with open arms and the friendliest smiles. Charlie was given another gigantic, cloud-like bed to curl up in beside our table (which he promptly sank into), along with a fresh water bowl. It was clear the staff were just as excited to see him as they were the guests with two legs.

The food? A knockout. We grazed on salmon ceviche and artichoke tacos, melt-in-your-mouth Yaikiniku glazed rib-eye, and crispy rock style tempura. The miso black cod was an umami dream and definitely worth coming back to.

UBA’s cocktails are worth writing home about, too. I tried the Blushing Geisha (vodka, umeshu, lychee, sorrel, lemon) and a Shiso Spritz — both perfectly balanced, bright, and just a little bit cheeky. The vibe was laidback luxe with a buzz that made it hard to leave.

On this return trip, I was thrilled to see Hart has added a fully kitted-out, 24/7 gym. Whether you’re into cardio, lifting, or just a quick spin before brunch, it’s got you covered. I squeezed in a quick morning workout, then took Charlie for a walk through nearby Spitalfields and along the canals. It’s those little upgrades — without losing the hotel’s soul — that confirm Hart’s place as one of the best dog-friendly hotels in East London.
