Many people dream about their dream wedding at an exotic beach destination. But having your wedding at the beach can present a few challenges. Here are a few reliable tips to consider when planning a beach wedding.

1. During the Day

It’s always best to plan your wedding to be concluded when the sun is still out. Once the sun goes down, the water is black, and if there’s, no full moon, you won’t have the sea as part of your backdrop. Just make sure that everyone is wearing SPF50 sunblock to avoid sunburn. Flowers tend to wilt very quickly too, that’s why you’ll have to choose flowers that can withstand the heat while your ceremony is conducted.

2. Sound System

Make sure you are using a microphone with a windscreen cover since the waves and wind can block out most of the sound. If you want your guests to hear the vows all the way to the back, then this is the way to go.

3. Private vs. Public

Many seaside resorts are surrounded by beautiful beaches but keep in mind that there are other hotel guests to consider. For weddings in Myrtle Beach, it may be your best option to buy out the property for the duration of your wedding ceremony; otherwise, you may not have the privacy that you’re looking for. Ask the resort in advance if privatizing the beach for your ceremony is a possibility before finalizing your booking.

4. Make Sure You Dress Appropriately

Certain fabric and dresses are not suitable for a beach wedding. A wedding dress which is made from lighter material is your best option for easy move ability, particularly if you’re wearing a gown with a fuller skirt. For a beach wedding, you can be a bit more open-minded and consider coloured dresses such as pastel pink or blue. Your veil should not have too much detail since it will be blowing in the wind. Use this to your advantage when the wedding photos are taken.

5. Barefoot or Heels

A barefoot wedding is stunning and probably the more appropriate option. But if you don’t want to ditch your shoes for the wedding ceremony, burying a wooden walkway beneath the sand is an excellent idea for making walking on the beach in heels a possibility. And it will still look like a sandy beach.

6. Consider the Wind

With most traditional weddings, rain is the bride’s most significant worry on her big day, but when you’re getting married on the beach, the wind is your primary concern. Wind can drown out all the sounds of the ceremony, and it can blow sand everywhere on a windy afternoon. This can potentially put a damper on your wedding. When choosing your wedding destination, consider the typical weather conditions of the area and always have a backup plan up your sleeve. Consider booking a resort that has several areas at your disposal in case you have to implement plan B. If you’re getting married at a beach that is not linked to a hotel, then you need to consider reserving an alternative backup location in case your initial plan goes sideways.
