From Breakouts to Balance: Discover the Holistic Skin-Care Revolution at Ouronyx, London

After on-going eczema flair ups and breakouts, House of Coco Wellness Editor, Anji McGrandles discovered holistic skin-care at Ouronyx.

In a world full of quick fixes and surface-level solutions, it is rare to find a clinic that asks why before jumping to what. Ouronyx London is rewriting the aesthetic rulebook with its pioneering approach, Mindful Aesthetics: beauty defined not by perfection, but by balance, wellbeing, and self-connection.

“At Ouronyx, we are leading a transformative shift in aesthetics, one that integrates self-awareness, self-acceptance, and wellbeing at its core,” explains Dr. Thivos Sokratous. “Inspired by the vision of our founder, Ida Banek, Mindful Aesthetics reflects a lifestyle philosophy at the intersection of health, resilience, and beauty.”

Inside Ouronyx reception

My Skin Journey

For me, this philosophy came at exactly the right moment. I had spent two years battling breakouts and eczema flare-ups that left my skin sore and unpredictable. My GP prescribed endless antibiotics and steroid creams that never addressed the root cause. A dermatologist visit was equally frustrating, as my requests for blood tests, hormone checks, and allergy screening were dismissed. I didn’t know where to turn, and my confidence plummeted.

A friend recommended Ouronyx, so I booked a consultation. I’ll be honest, I was sceptical. I wasn’t looking for surface-level treatments or to be told I needed a laughter line removed. I wanted some answers as to why my skin wasn’t playing ball.

Situated just off Piccadilly, the space feels more like a five-star hotel than a clinic. Inside neutral tones, soft sofas, coffee table books, and floral displays give a calm and welcoming vibe. Downstairs at the centre of the consultation rooms, you’ll find a make-up bar that wouldn’t look out of place in a department store, stocked with skin-friendly products that one of the team can apply post treatment so you don’t leave with a red face. This is the kind of attention to detail you get at Ouronyx. From the moment you arrive, you feel taken care of.

What really impressed me was that Dr. Thivos looks at the whole picture. Before our meeting, I had to complete a questionnaire exploring my lifestyle, mental state, fears, skin goals, and routine, followed by a 3D skin analysis to assess hydration and inflammation.  “We diagnose before we treat,” says Dr. Thivos. “Our goal is to design personalised resilience plans that restore long-term strength and vitality from the inside out.”

My results revealed my skin barrier wasn’t repairing itself and healing, so he recommended a plan that went far beyond treatments, including supplements to support my barrier and gut health, skincare and make-up recommendations, and small dietary and lifestyle changes that became genuine game-changers. This was not about quick fixes; it was about helping my skin heal from within.

Skin Deep Skin-Care

“Patients rarely come in just because of a line or a patch of redness,” says Dr. Thivos. “It is almost always about how those changes disrupt their sense of self. Many describe feeling misaligned, as if their outer reflection no longer matches who they are inside.”

That emotional awareness is central to Mindful Aesthetics. “The skin is a living canvas of the nervous and immune systems,” he adds. “Stress hormones, inflammation, and even sleep disruption all leave visible imprints. When mental wellbeing is restored, the skin regains resilience and radiance.”

Inflammation, he explains, is one of the biggest hidden culprits. “It is subtle and cumulative, often triggered by poor sleep, pollution, or an unbalanced microbiome. Even harsh skincare can quietly erode the barrier. The good news is that most of it is lifestyle-driven and reversible.”

My Results

Following my consultation, Dr. Thivos recommended regenerative, non-invasive treatments including Profhilo to restore deep hydration and elasticity and polynucleotides to repair and strengthen the barrier. Within six weeks my breakouts calmed, my eczema stopped flaring, and my skin looked clearer and more luminous than it had in years.

The biggest shift, however, was internal. I felt balanced again, calmer, healthier, and more myself. Friends began commenting on how well I looked before I had even mentioned the treatments, which perfectly sums up Ouronyx’s ethos of subtle, natural results that enhance rather than transform.

Before and after skin results

A New Kind of Aesthetic Discipline

For Dr. Thivos, mindful care begins with precision and restraint. “I listen for the emotional driver, map the biology, such as inflammation, barrier integrity, and hormones, and set goals that protect the patient’s identity. The most elegant result is when someone looks like themselves, more coherent.”

Alongside regenerative therapies, Ouronyx offers neuromodulators for softening expression lines, dermal fillers for natural volume, and advanced technologies such as radiofrequency microneedling and laser resurfacing for tone and texture. Yet every choice is carefully measured. “If no treatment is warranted, we do not proceed,” he says. “Restraint is part of my duty as a doctor and part of our culture.”

Beyond the Clinic

Long-term results depend on lifestyle. “Sleep loss, stress, and pollution are the quiet drivers of skin inflammation,” explains Dr. Thivos. “My non-negotiables are simple: circadian repair, daily SPF with antioxidants, a barrier-first routine, and personalised supplements. Once biology is stabilised, treatments become far more effective.”

As I left my final review appointment, I realised that my experience at Ouronyx had been about far more than my skin. It was about restoration, both physical and emotional.

That guidance has been as transformative for me — small, sustainable shifts that continue to strengthen my skin months later. I am now more aware of how disrupted sleep or increased stress levels can impact my skin. I have a skin care routine (that doesn’t cost the earth) and a range of products and supplements that mean I can maintain good skin at home.

Ouronyx is not selling perfection. It is helping people reconnect with themselves through care that is both scientific and soulful. And as someone who has lived through the frustration of feeling unseen and unheard, I can say with certainty that when you find a place like Ouronyx, which sees the whole you, the results go far beyond skin deep.
