House of Coco is thrilled to share the latest initiative from Leeds Women’s Aid, which has just launched its heartwarming summer campaign, #OurOwnSafeSpace. This innovative campaign encourages Yorkshire-based family and lifestyle influencers, alongside the general public, to create and share images and videos of their own safe spaces with their families. These spaces can take any form—from a pillow fort to a garden den—echoing the creativity and comfort that a safe haven provides.
The campaign shines a light on a critical issue: for families affected by domestic abuse, the concept of a safe space is often elusive. By participating in #OurOwnSafeSpace, the community can raise awareness and funds for Leeds Women’s Aid’s new children and young people’s hub in refuge. This hub aims to offer a sanctuary for young people to play, relax, and socialise, aiding their recovery from the trauma of abuse.
Adding a special touch to this campaign is the involvement of our founder, Laura Bartlett and the first-ever ambassador for Leeds Women’s Aid. Laura’s role as an ambassador underscores her commitment to supporting vulnerable women and children in the region. Her dedication and influence will undoubtedly amplify the reach and impact of the #OurOwnSafeSpace campaign.
As we join Laura and Leeds Women’s Aid in this meaningful endeavour, we invite our readers to participate by building their own safe spaces and sharing their creations. Together, we can support the vital work of Leeds Women’s Aid and help create safe spaces for those who need them the most.
For more information on how to get involved and to donate, visit Leeds Women’s Aid’s website and follow the hashtag #OurOwnSafeSpace on social media.
Let’s come together to make a difference, one safe space at a time.
