Łódź (pronounced like “woodge”) is widely considered an emerging hotspot in Europe. With considerable financial backing from the European Union and international investments, it has revamped itself from a post-industrial textiles hub into a vibrant metropolis for art, culture, and modern enterprise. Below, we look at some of the very best dining options available in Łódź right now.
1) Acanti Restauracja, Łódź
The fine-dining restaurant, Acanti, situated at the historic Hotel Traugutta 12, only opened in September 2025, but has already been showered with countless awards. It has been awarded a prestigious MICHELIN Guide Bib Gourmand. It has been awarded 2 toques by Gault & Millau. The restaurant also won first place in the November edition of the local Festival of Good Taste. The decor effortlessly blends historical 19th-century tenement architecture with a contemporary, refined interior. It is popular with both the business community and locals to catch up with friends and family.

Head chef Maciej Paszek has crafted a modern European menu that focuses on Polish produce and seasonality. Antonius caviar tasting plays a prominent part on their menu. It is a remarkable Polish success story, as they’ve grown to become the largest caviar producer in Europe and the second-largest globally. Their caviar has a rich, buttery texture along with a delicate finish that isn’t excessively salty.
The standout dishes on the menu include their signature tomato dish. The centrepiece tomato is packed with umami, subtle sweetness, and a vibrant, refreshing acidity, thanks to the addition of specially prepared tomato water. Their Scottish salmon main course has the addition of a citrus sorbet, which cuts through the fatty nature of the fish and the beurre blanc.

2) Heksagon 2.0, Łódź
You might be wondering why the restaurant has a 2.0 at the end. It is the modern version of a cult restaurant in the city that has been completely remodelled since 2024. The new version oozes luxury and romantic charm. The organic, suspended ribbon ceilings are an eye-catching design feature, as is the elegant copper-topped bar. Despite the stylish, art-forward nature of the restaurant, it is an extremely welcoming venue and also dog-friendly. It is situated a few blocks away from the University of Łódź, which is minutes from the city centre.

They also like to support a Polish success story and offer Antonius caviar. They might be the only restaurant in the world where you will find a seven-course tasting menu sitting alongside a pizza menu. You sense the latter is of the upscale variety and catered towards the university population nearby. They only use the very best ingredients; for example, it is tenderloin for their beef tartare. It is exceedingly tender and lean, thus delivering that luxurious melt-in-your-mouth texture. The shrimp tartare uses shrimp mayonnaise for added umami richness.

They are particularly adept at pairing wines to the right dishes. You are more than likely to try Solaris wine, which is Poland’s flagship white wine grape. With climate change, Poland’s wine industry is going through a boom period at the moment. For example, their signature duck breast dish is paired with an elegant, medium-bodied pinot noir. It has just the right amount of fruit notes to enhance the accompanying duck and the smoked pork “doughnut”.

3) Ukryte Rzeki, Łódź
A sister restaurant to Heksagon 2.0, Ukryte Rzeki is just a stone’s throw away from the famous Central Museum of Textiles (“The White Factory”). The modern lighting adds to the refreshed look of the restaurant, and it is particularly popular at weekends, when they have live music.

The name of the restaurant means “hidden rivers”. It alludes to the mysterious history of Łódź, but also the location of the restaurant on the Jasień River. Their unique cocktail menu has names that draw on the illustrious manufacturing history of the city. For example, the mocktail I tried, Tkalnia, means “weaving mill” in Polish. It is made with a refreshing combination of 0% Gewurztraminer, sour apple lemonade and almond syrup.
Their menu has updated traditional classics, like a Zalewajka (sour soup), which includes poached egg, potato purée, mushroom duxelles and a panko-crusted egg croquette with wild garlic mayonnaise. Their dishes are always exquisitely presented, such as their rack of lamb, which is presented with edible flowers, parsley vanilla purée and a fresh mint demi-glace.
