We all know London as being a city famed for its range of restaurants and culinary diversity, but when it comes to steak, the capital’s dining scene offers a cut above the rest. From swanky Mayfair establishments to hidden gems tucked away in unexpected corners, steak lovers have their pick of prime dining spots. Whether you’re a fan of a perfectly seared ribeye, a tender filet mignon, or the hearty indulgence of a tomahawk, London definitely has a steakhouse to satisfy your carnivorous cravings.
What makes a steak restaurant truly stand out? Well, it’s a combination of quality beef, careful cooking, and, of course, the chefs who bring their expertise to the grill. The provenance of the beef matters just as much as the seasoning and cooking technique – and in a city as competitive as London, the best restaurants know how to deliver on every level.
But let’s not forget the experience. A great steak isn’t just about what’s on the plate – it’s the entire atmosphere. From cosy interiors to knowledgeable sommeliers who can help you pick the right wine to accompany your choice of steak, these restaurants are about indulging in every aspect of the meal. So, grab your steak knives because we’re diving into the 10 best places in London to enjoy the ultimate carnivorous treat.
CUT at 45 Park Lane

If you’re in the mood for luxury, CUT by Wolfgang Puck at 45 Park Lane is the place to be. This sleek, high-end steakhouse offers a truly glamorous experience, from its art-deco interiors to its impeccable service. The menu is a celebration of prime beef, with USDA prime cuts, Australian Wagyu, and even Japanese A5 Wagyu on offer. We were lucky to sample some of this and while wagyu might not be for everyone, the marbled meat really melted in our mouths. It, quite simply, did not taste real.
The mighty Tomahawk is going to have you in meat sweats – but savouring every single bite, so we’d recommend pairing up and going for gold with this standout. While the sides are delicious, you really could just dine on the meat alone at CUT – it’s that good. Starters include the best steak tartare with truffle we’d ever eaten, as well as chunky prawn spring rolls, tuna tartare cones and – don’t knock it – the perfect two-bite sliders.
Leave room (if you can, go on, power through like we did) for dessert as the Basque cheesecake and the apple crumble are both to die for – and make sure to ask for Davide’s spot-on sommeilier recommendations. If every glass of wine was as good as the pairings he chose, we might just drink more. An absolutely exceptional Sancerre and Barolo, as well as, perhaps, the best Champagne we’ve ever had. Every drink was so clean, clear and mooth. CUT is not just a meal; it’s a moment.

Dip your chips into this, though.
