When you live in and around London, or visit quite a lot, you sometimes become numb to its beauty. Hyde Park has always been one of our favourite places to go and relax or just catch up with life, but there’s more to it than just grass and trees.
Roseate House sits on a leafy street with rows of 19th Century townhouses. Its location is a sweet spot between the peaceful park and the convenience of Paddington station (great for Heathrow Express international travellers).
But it’s about way more than just location here. It’s the sort of place that reminds you that attention to detail goes a long way.
Rooms come equipped with hand carved beds and antique furniture. Ranging from Classic Double to Roseate Suite, which comes with its own private balcony with a cinematic West London view where you can enjoy your breakfast al fresco. The suite also has a four poster bed and a gold-gilded mirror for the feeling of true luxury. While the furniture is traditional, the tech is very up to code. Each room has modern amenities like flat-to-the-wall TVs and iPod docks.
Each of the bathrooms have been designed with the same care, and with luxury as standard – think chunky limestone baths and huge walk-in showers, fluffy white towels and sweet smelling Penhaligon’s toiletries.
A traditional grand Victorian townhouse is, by definition, the natural place to take afternoon tea. Lucky for guests at Roseate House, this is their speciality. The Hyde Bar serves up traditional British afternoon tea – the type with clean cut cucumber sandwiches and scones that are still warm from the oven, on grand silver cake stands with macaroons to follow. The Hyde restaurant has only 12 covers, serving modern European cuisine and is a real hidden gem.
Guests are greeted in the evenings with a complimentary glass of Champagne, and the concierge was the kind of person you encounter and never forget. It’s easy to get lost in the decadence of West London, so you need a basic idea of what’s going on if you want to get the best experience., and let’s just say that guests of Roseate House are very well looked after.
