When I discovered Coco B Villas, a stunning collection of oceanfront accommodations, I couldn’t resist taking a quick escape to this charming island off the coast of Mexico to check it out. I found the villas to be an ideal boutique stay that seamlessly blends luxury and privacy with high-end resort services.

I’m always on the lookout for the perfect getaway destination for friends and family—a place that’s not only relaxing but also has fun and unique elements for everyone. I wanted something that offers both the privacy of a vacation rental and the luxury of a resort but with accommodations for larger groups. So, when I discovered Coco B Villas, I was intrigued.
Coco B Villas is a collection of four spacious, privately owned villas that can be rented individually or in combinations, accommodating groups of up to 52 people. Designed for flexibility, these villas are perfect for multigenerational family getaways, large friends’ trips, or even wellness retreats like yoga.
Why Isla Mujeres?
The name itself piqued my curiosity. Isla Mujeres, meaning “Island of Women,” felt like the perfect destination for House of Coco, which celebrates empowering women to travel, explore, and live their best lives.
I’m no stranger to Mexico—it’s one of my go-to destinations when I’m craving sun-soaked days on the beach with a cool drink in hand. But until this trip, I had never explored Isla Mujeres, just a short ferry ride from Cancun. I was thrilled to discover this hidden gem.
A Hidden Gem
The island enjoys average temperatures of around 80°F (27°C) year-round, making it the perfect destination no matter the season. Unlike the more crowded tourist destinations in Mexico, Isla Mujeres retains its laid-back, small-island charm, while still offering plenty to enjoy. Its compact size (only 5 miles long and half a mile wide) makes it easy to navigate. It’s best explored via golf cart, the preferred mode of transport, and it’s an easy ride from Coco B Villas into town or the larger public beaches.
I explored Isla Mujeres by strolling through the charming town, which boasts a blend of authentic Mexican culture, local art and textile shops, and a food scene that blends authentic Mexican cuisine with fresh seafood. Spanish is the official language, but you’ll find many locals who speak English, especially in the shops and restaurants.
Nearby Playa Norte (North Beach) is a vast, stunning beach of powdery white sand and crystal-clear turquoise waters. With a vibrant social scene, beach bars and restaurants line the shoreline with plenty of options to rent lounge chairs and umbrellas to use while soaking up the music and views.

One of the things I appreciated the most about Coco B Villas is that you don’t need to leave the property to enjoy the beach. All four villas are oceanfront, with most offering private access to a serene, secluded beach—perfect for those looking for a quiet retreat, right outside your doorstep.
The four villas are arranged in pairs, each offering a unique experience but designed for maximum flexibility. The villas range in size and can accommodate from 8 to 22 people. One of the larger villas specifically lends itself to yoga retreats with two fully equipped large open-air second-floor pavilions where you can find your inner peace while overlooking the calming blue ocean.
I can’t help but think of how Coco B Villas is ideal for so many types of travelers and getaways. Whether you’re hosting a milestone birthday, a babymoon with friends (yes, this is a thing now), or a wellness retreat, these villas offer the perfect venue.
Elegant Décor Meets Functional Luxury
During my stay, I found that I often didn’t want to leave the property. Everything I needed for comfort, relaxation, and enjoyment was right at the villa. The architecture and décor perfectly balance sophisticated luxury with practicality. An open-concept floorplan overlooking the ocean also incorporates multiple intimate gathering areas. These spaces are wrapped in an elegantly soothing, neutral-toned aesthetic that hints at a streamlined bohemian feel. Moroccan tiles, cool white stucco walls, and earthy woven chandeliers complete the sophisticated design.
The architecture thoughtfully merges indoor and outdoor spaces with distinctive features. Shower walls with strategic cutouts offer uninterrupted ocean views while you luxuriate under rainhead showers. Most rooms open onto expansive oceanfront balconies, creating serene retreats where hours slip away as you watch the rhythmic waves roll in.
The Ultimate Outdoor Living Experience
The villas’ outdoor spaces steal the show. The wall of floor-to-ceiling windows fully opens up to the outdoor oasis complete with a waterfall wall, infinity pool, and breathtaking ocean views. Lanterns nestled among the trees cast a warm, cozy glow at night, enhancing the incredibly peaceful atmosphere.
This tranquil backdrop was perfect for the private sound healing and chakra yoga classes that the Coco B Villas concierge team arranged for us in the mornings. This truly rejuvenating experience set the tone for the rest of my day. The best way to follow that up was to enjoy the extraordinarily beautiful and delicious organic breakfast.

The optional private chefs offered at Coco B Villas create exquisite meals using fresh organic ingredients. Each dish arrives as a work of art, almost too beautiful to eat. In the evenings, meals were accompanied by signature cocktails from the villa’s optional private bartender. Nothing says luxury like having your own bartender offer an exotic cocktail while you’re relaxing on a beach lounger in front of the ocean—I highly recommend the spicy margarita. And if that wasn’t indulgent enough, the highlight was being serenaded by a live Mariachi band at sunset. Purely magical.

Ground transportation, party specifics, excursions and more can be coordinated for your stay. As a thoughtful touch, complimentary kayaks and paddleboards are available for use directly on the property. While guests benefit from the spaciousness and seclusion of their own villa, the discreet professional staff ensures everything remains immaculate—allowing guests to fully relax and enjoy their getaway.
