Recently opened in 2025, Meliá Pattaya Hotel brings a new layer of five-star opulence to Thailand’s ever-evolving coastal city. Renowned for its vibrant nightlife and sun-drenched beaches, Pattaya is increasingly attracting travellers seeking a more refined beach escape. This 234-room property delivers just that, blending modern luxe with effortless comfort.
Set just a short stroll from Pattaya Beach, the hotel occupies a prime position in the heart of the city. Opposite sits LAY Beach Club, the hotel’s own Ibizian-style beachside venue, where guests can relax in coastal glamour and watch the sunset over the Gulf of Thailand. It’s in easy reach of Pattaya’s lively markets, restaurants, and shopping malls, while Bangkok is only a two-hour drive away, making it the perfect coastal retreat from the city.
As Pattaya continues to welcome discerning travellers, Meliá Pattaya Hotel marks a new chapter for the destination. Showcasing the brand’s five-star hospitality with the culture of Thailand’s eastern sea, the property is at the forefront of Pattaya’s emerging luxury lifestyle scene.
Based in Thailand, House of Coco travel writer Sally Seaton spends much of her time exploring the country’s destinations and recently checked into Meliá Pattaya Hotel for a two-night stay in Pattaya.

Cultural Inspiration
Stepping into the lobby of Meliá Pattaya Hotel, I was immediately struck by the grandeur of the space. The interior is awash in warm gold tones, complemented by subtle accents of coastal blue and white that echo the colours of the Gulf of Thailand. It felt both elegant and inviting, setting the tone for the cultural story that unfolds throughout the hotel.
The lobby and lounge draw particular inspiration from Nong Mon Market, celebrated for its vibrant street food culture. Intricate textures and surfaces throughout the space reference Khao Lam — sticky rice roasted in bamboo — one of the region’s most beloved local delicacies. The thoughtful design detail subtly connects the hotel to the traditions and flavours of Pattaya’s surroundings.

As I wandered deeper into the hotel, I began to notice how the interiors continued to reflect Thailand’s coastal heritage. The hallways leading to the guest rooms feature whitewashed walls and soft archways reminiscent of Mediterranean beach architecture, while the flooring flows in gentle waves of oceanic blue. At each doorway, curved arches are adorned by bold number plaques, complemented with delicate shell-inspired ornaments, evoking the charm of a seaside retreat.
The pool area was the hotel’s most captivating space. Designed to embrace the relaxed spirit of nearby Jomtien Beach, the space also nods to Pattaya’s history as a destination popular with American visitors in the 1960s and 70s. Plush daybeds and oversized sofas surround the pool, framed by sheer white curtains that offer privacy while softening the tropical sunlight. Lush greenery cascades from the wooden seating terraces above, adding a natural serenity to the setting.
There is a relaxing spot wherever you choose to sit. Sun loungers line the pool’s edge, while bean bags and shaded benches create more relaxed spots to unwind. Tucked-away seating areas offer tranquil moments, making the entire space feel both social and serene, mirroring Pattaya perfectly.

At the centre of it all is the contemporary pool bar, where neon lighting and warm wooden panelling create a modern contrast against the surrounding palette of blue, green and white. It’s the perfect spot to cool off with a refreshing drink while taking in the atmosphere.
Just beside the pool sits Sanehh Sarae, the hotel’s all-day dining restaurant, where alfresco tables overlook the pool. I spent slow mornings here, lounging on lavish sofas with a pot of jasmine green tea, enjoying a leisurely breakfast as the pool area gradually came to life.
Coastal Living
I had the pleasure of staying in the 27 sqm Deluxe Sea View Room, where the first thing that captured my attention was the breathtaking views of Pattaya Beach. As I stepped inside, my eyes were immediately drawn to the coastline — palm trees swaying gently above golden sand and the calm waters.

By day, natural light poured into the room, creating a calm and airy atmosphere that made the space feel even more tranquil. It was the perfect place to pause and take in the beauty of Pattaya. The room itself was spacious and cohesively continued the hotel’s coastal and culturally inspired design. Soft blue swirls painted across crispy white walls subtly mirrored the movement of the ocean, while delicate carved detailing added texture and depth. Pendant lights suspended above the bedside table provided a warm, translucent glow with hints of blue, creating a serene ambience. Curved arches flowed naturally from the hallways into the room, complemented by intricate flute detailing across the decor.

International Dining
Perched on the top floor of Meliá Pattaya Hotel, Yitong Chinese Restaurant & Sky Bar offers an elevated dining experience with breathtaking views across Pattaya’s coastline. The rooftop setting is magical at sunset, as the sky softens into shades of amber and pink, and the final rays of the sun set across the sea.
Just beneath the rooftop terrace, the restaurant is framed by floor-to-ceiling windows, ensuring the vivid colours of the evening sky are in view. It’s a truly mesmerising spot for dinner. The interiors feature a sophisticated Chinese aesthetic, characterised by rich red accents and black-and-gold detailing, with dim-lit lighting that creates a dramatic setting.
Seated beside the window as the sunset unfolded outside, I enjoyed a selection of Cantonese dishes, including BBQ pork ribs, Beijing-style noodles and a delicate pineapple pudding milk, paired with a refreshing Aperol Spritz.

Elsewhere within the hotel, dining continues to celebrate Pattaya’s diverse cultural influences. On the first floor, the hotel’s Japanese-Peruvian Nikkei restaurant pays tribute to nearby Si Racha — often referred to as “Little Japanese Town” — and the Japanese expat community that settled in the region during Thailand’s industrial boom.
Across from the hotel, and accessible by buggy, sits LAY Beach Club, Meliá Pattaya’s modern beachfront venue. Overlooking Pattaya’s shoreline, the spaces blend Mediterranean-inspired style with coastal charm. Pearl-white sand, rattan decor, blush-pink blossoms, and lush greenery create an effortlessly chic setting that evokes a stylish beach club along the Mediterranean coast.
The venue offers several spaces to relax or soak up the sun, including an indoor restaurant, a sophisticated bar area, a rooftop lounge, and a pool area where guests can spend long afternoons. At the centre of the beach club is its striking hydro bar, an elegant cocktail pool dotted with submerged loungers where the water appears to merge seamlessly with the ocean.

I settled into the alfresco lounge area to watch the sun dip below the horizon. The atmosphere was relaxed yet lively. For a light bite, I opted for the hummus trio, served with bell peppers, carrots, onions, cucumbers, and warm pita bread. The three hummus types were fresh and vibrant, though the beetroot-and-feta hummus offered the most striking flavour.
As darkness fell, flames suddenly lit up the night sky as a spectacular fire show began along the front of the beach club. Set against the sound of waves and the glow of the shoreline, it was a memorable way to end the evening.

Open daily from late morning until midnight, LAY Beach Club has established itself as one of Pattaya’s most stylish beachfront destinations, blending relaxed daytime lounging with intimate sunset gatherings and evening entertainment.
Following successful openings in Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phuket and Koh Samui, Meliá Pattaya Hotel further strengthens the brand’s presence across Thailand. Set against the sunlit shoreline of Pattaya, the property introduces a new level of luxury to the city’s scene. It’s also one of Southeast Asia’s hottest wedding venues.
