Men’s Fashion Guide To Flaunt The Perfect James Bond 007 Look

Bond 007 is the culmination of a complex protagonist with an unsullied style statement.

July 4th, 2019

Bond 007 is the culmination of a complex protagonist with an unsullied style statement. While we are all drooling over the suave outfit of Daniel Craig, the truth is that this James Bond charisma was initiated by three people in particular: Sean Connery, Anthony Sinclair, and Terence Young. After his first film, Dr. No, Terence Young actually coached Sean Connery to portray the character of James Bond. Anthony Sinclair just wore everything that these Bond pioneers wore and later helped the Bond persona to become popular among the lookalike audiences.

The Grey Suit

The suits of James Bond have undergone some significant changes throughout the year. Anthony Sinclair’s pure aesthetics were visible throughout the Connery time period. In Goldfinger, his glen check three-piece suit became quite popular with the public which featured a notched lapel waistcoat. ticket pocket with a handkerchief and narrow lapels. You can try out something like that if you want to flaunt a suave Bond look.

Then there’s Roger Moore who sported a chalk-grey stripe jacket with a peaked lapel. In time, the look changed into a more neutral look. Pierce Brosnan was dressed by Brioni with no waistcoat and a wider lapel with a higher gorge. Sinclair’s pleated trousers were replaced with slimmer cuts with darting. In “Quantum Of Solace”, Tom Ford took the place of Brioni. Though the suits have changed over time, one thing remains clear – grey is ageless!

The Tuxedo

Throughout every Bond movie, The Tuxedo has been featured heavily. It is very common in casinobooks today where you will see bookies flaunting these in style. Don’t confuse it with suits as suits can be worn at any time of the day. Tuxedos are primarily meant for the evening occasions. Moreover, Tuxedos are traditionally dark blue or black while suits can come in different shades. So, if you want to exude the same classic style that is featured in the Bond movies, you need to dawn a Tuxedo preferably of dark shades, flaunting a bow-tie. Have you watched the movie, Dr. No? If yes, then you might be already familiar with the iconic scene where Connery introduces himself as James Bond from a cloud of cigarette smoke. Look closer and you will notice that he sports a midnight blue Sinclair designed tuxedo with a Lanvin shirt. Talk about eccentricity!

You can try out the classic contemporary slim fit that is similar to the Tom Ford design of Daniel Craig. Planning on nailing the evening party? Keep it traditional with the crisp white pocket square and bow-tie.

The Casino Royale look

Planning on being a part of the glitz and glamour of Daniel Craig’s Casino Royale? Well, you will be glad to hear that we have a recipe that will make you look the best version of yourself when you turn up the entrance! All you have to do is look clean, well put together minus the scruffy and shabby accessories. Just be smart, casual and the most important, comfortable. To nail the basic looks of Casino Royale, you have to be comfortable, decent, presentable and clean. Here are some ground rules that you need to adhere to:

  • Ditch the board shorts or bathers
  • No tracksuits or school uniforms
  • Ditch the high-visibility workwear
  • No torn or ripped clothes
  • Ditch the club colours and slogans
  • No hoodies
  • Ditch the slippers, dirty shoes or rubber thongs

Steer clear of the above-mentioned clothing. If you are up for casuals casino look, then the following casino look will do just fine. You can flaunt a polo shirt, Button-down shirts or turtlenecks. We suggest plain T-Shirts which does not feature any slogans over them. Next, try out some decent pair of jeans or khakis. You can try out Bermuda shorts, cargos or dress shorts.

Now, if you are ready for the clean shaven Bond look, then the suit is a must. As Temime said, “A suit – not a good suit but a very, very good suit – is the one garment a man can wear that can make him feel like he owns the world.” Stick to a classic cut and a single-breasted suit. Avoid the double-breasted ones as they look shabby when they open up.

Colour is a must. It is not surprising that you have never seen a Bond dressed in a green tank top and pink trousers.“You should see the man first and the clothes second, which is why Bond’s wardrobe is based around a neutral palette – it allows his personality to shine through,” says Temime. A palette of blues, whites, greys, and blacks never looks bad – face it! Wear a glove.

And last but not least, you cannot wear a perfect suit on a bad body. If you have a dad bod, then adorning the perfect James Bond look might seem too farfetched. The best advice that we can give is to avoid tightly fitted shirts and get a good tailor. A good tailor is a must if you want to nail the perfect Bond look. Now, that you know, what are you waiting for? Try out this elegant attire and we assure you – everyone will be looking at you.
