NEW Lush Spa Rewilding Facial Review: A choreographed treatment bursting with magical whimsy & natural restoration

Step into a world of botanical bliss as Demi Aspey explores the Lush Spa Rewilding Facial — a curated treatment where enchanting elements meet nature’s healing touch. This is more than skincare; it’s a sensorial journey back to your roots.

Lush Spa has launched a new 50-minute lifting facial designed to sculpt skin, soothe tension, and reconnect you with nature, inside and out.

When I say I have been obsessed with Lush forever, I mean OB. SESSED.

I take my interests so seriously that it was once not uncommon to spend £100s on bath bombs, lotions, and potions so that I could complete my collection. But overconsumption is not the way. Early-20s Demi simply needed an escape from double shifts in hospitality and an ongoing battle with sensitive skin.

Thankfully, I nipped the “must-have-everything” mentality, but my obsession with Lush remains strong. These days, I choose only the products I need, with a little treat here and there during more turbulent times.

One thing remains true: Lush is a store I can rely on without question.

Lush life philosophy sign "A lush life we believe...in making effective products from fresh, organic* fruit and vegetables, the finest essential oils and safe synthetics. We invent our own products and fragrances. We make them fresh by hand using little or no preservative or packaging, using only vegetarian ingredients, and tell you when they were made. We believe in buying ingredients only from companies that do not commission tests on animals and in testing our products on humans. We believe in happy people making happy soap, putting our faces on our products and making our mums proud. We believe in long candlelit baths, sharing showers, massage, filling the world with perfume and in the right to make mistakes, lose everything and start again. We believe that all people should enjoy freedom of movement across the world. We believe our products are good value, that we should make a profit and that the customer is always right. * We also believe words like fresh and organic have honest meaning beyond marketing.

Lush instills its brand’s slow, regenerative, thoughtful choices: replenish, restore, regrow. This reminds me of what my Grandfather used to say about how humans treat our only home, planet Earth. We’re a species that continually takes with little thought about the consequences of never returning Mother Nature’s favour.

While many still grapple with this impossible notion that we must adopt more selfless approaches to how we treat our planet, the shift in mentality amongst many consumers is hopeful, thanks to brands like Lush.

Lush Spa’s new Rewilding Facial treatment is an ode to giving back. I was elated to be invited as one of the first guests to try this gorgeous new treatment. I was long overdue for a relaxation session, and my skin had been doing its annual excursion off my face. I am sad to say that I have never visited Lush Spa—until now!

From the outset, the Rewilding Facial is a sensory dream from start to finish.

Lush’s new facial treatment rewilds your skin, senses, and the planet.

Lush’s Rewilding Facial is soundtracked by a seasonal suite of ancient folk songs reimagined by Lush’s in-house band, Fresh Handmade Sound. The music is raw and emotional, a journey through family, community, and belonging notes. Between the beats, a natural orchestra of waves, birds, and the enchanting hum of the outdoors whisked me somewhere far away.

The skin’s ecosystem inspires the Rewilding Facial, which refreshes and rejuvenates using hot and cold therapy, deep tissue facial massage, and lymphatic techniques. It is like a face gym treatment, but softer, kinder, and indulging.

Lush’s Rewilding Facial begins with a double cleanse using Ultrabland or the vegan Ultraplant, followed by Drop of Hope soap. The gentle foaming cleanser is made with rapeseed oil grown in Fukushima. This cleanser helps to regenerate land and livelihoods affected by the nuclear disaster.

NEW Lush Spa Rewilding Facial Review: A choreographed treatment bursting with magical whimsy & natural restoration

The skin is treated with Lush’s Ayesha face mask, rich in asparagus and ethically sourced dark patchouli oil. This oil is harvested in partnership with the Orangutan Information Center in Sumatra using permaculture practices that actively rewild the rainforest.

While the mask works magic, a tension-busting neck and shoulder massage melts stress. A delightful treat and possibly the best neck and shoulder massage I’ve ever had. Then comes Full of Grace, a featherlight serum made with illipe butter and portobello mushrooms, sculpted into the face with long strokes, flicks, and pinches to stimulate radiance.

Cooling therapy with a witch hazel and peppermint jelly mask brings everything full circle before a final application of the iconic Gorgeous moisturiser. The iconic moisturiser is a blend of fresh fruit juices and cold-pressed organic oils originally crafted for Princess Diana herself.

Designed to feel like stepping into the wild, this facial uplifts, restores, and rewilds. It’s suitable for all skin types (including beards) and an ode to what happens when you leave things better than you found them.

“Lots of our Lush Spa guests were asking for a lifting facial using our lovely products, so this is our answer to that. You can come for this as a maintenance treatment or a luxurious treatment, and it’s going to help maintain muscle integrity, tension relief, and lymph drainage. Inspired by the concept of rewilding the skin, the client, and the earth – we leave everything Lusher than we found it.”

– Jody Bailey, Lush Spa Treatment Developer

And you can continue the Rewilding experience at home!

My incredible therapist, Laura, walked me through each item in the Rewilding Facial before the treatment began. I was also lucky to leave with one of the Witch Hazel & Peppermint Jelly Face Masks, which I think I’ll treat myself to after finishing writing!

Here’s the ingredient list so you can add an item or two to your at-home spa collection or tailor your unique skin needs ahead of your treatment.

1. Lush’s Ultrabland (or vegan alternative Ultraplant) – A personal favourite!

Ultrabland facial cleanser: Black pot of Lush Ultrabland Facial Cleanser, made with beeswax and rose to gently cleanse and soften the skin.

Purpose: Double cleanse
What it does: It gently removes makeup, dirt, and impurities without stripping the skin. It is nourishing and soothing, ideal for sensitive skin.

2. Lush’s Drop of Hope Soap

Lush Drop of Hope soap: Square yellow soap bar with embossed botanical design, handmade and natural.

Purpose: Foaming cleanse with facial brushes
What it does: Provides a soft, moisturising lather, thanks to rapeseed oil grown in Fukushima. This oil supports land regeneration and local livelihoods post-nuclear disaster.

3. Lush’s Ayesha Fresh Face Mask

Lush Ayesha Face Mask: Creamy textured smear of Ayesha fresh face mask, rich in natural ingredients for revitalising skin.

Purpose: Skin-firming and brightening mask
What it does: It contains asparagus (rich in antioxidants) and dark patchouli oil, ethically sourced through rewilding practices in Sumatra. It helps tone, lift, and brighten dull skin.

4. Lush’s Full of Grace Facial Serum

Lush Full of Grace face serum: Octagonal solid serum bar with decorative carved mushroom pattern, nourishing and travel-friendly skincare.

Purpose: Sculpting facial massage serum
What it does: This lightweight yet nourishing serum is made with illipe butter and portobello mushrooms (high in vitamins B and C). It supports skin elasticity, hydration, and antioxidant protection.

5. Witch Hazel & Peppermint Jelly Face Mask

Black pot of Lush Mask of Magnaminty face and body mask, made with peppermint oil, aduki beans, and kaolin for a refreshing deep cleanse.

Purpose: Cold therapy, post-massage
What it does: It cools and soothes the skin, reducing puffiness and calming redness. It also helps reinvigorate the senses and close pores. I don’t believe this is available from the Lush store, but Laura advised that Mask of Magnaminty has similar ingredients and works just as well!

6. Gorgeous Moisturiser (or a tailored alternative)

Gorgeous Facial Moisturiser: Lush Gorgeous facial moisturiser in a black pot, known for premium ingredients and luxurious hydration.

Purpose: Final hydration step
What it does: A luxury moisturiser originally formulated for Princess Diana, made with fresh fruit juices and the highest quality cold-pressed and organic oils. Deeply nourishes, restores glow, and locks in moisture.

Lush Spa’s Rewilding Facial: Brand new treatment, brand new skin.

My skin was stressed before entering Lush Leeds Spa.

Side-by-side before and after photos of a woman showing clearer, glowing skin after skincare products and Lush spa rewilding facial treatment, with improved complexion and reduced blemishes.

After 50 minutes of pure, uninterrupted bliss, I feel like a new woman. Every touch, aroma, and sound was a delight I didn’t know I needed nor could experience.

As someone with a permanent racing mind and a sensitivity to everything – including touch during historic spa visits – though every second is perfectly balanced and choreographed to precision, there’s not a moment you won’t wish to last a little longer during the Rewilding Facial.

After my treatment, I was treated to a delectable pomegranate-infused sparkling iced juice, rich in antioxidants and all the good stuff. I slurped it down in record time because it was one of the most delicious drinks I’ve tasted. Who needs gin?

It’s been a week since my treatment, and my skin has never been clearer. My dryness has all but vanished—no sign of pesky pimples. I’m glowing with or without makeup. And after a chaotic start to 2025, I feel wildly rejuvenated.

Sometimes, slowing down, reconnecting with nature, and practicing the ritual of self-care is the answer.

Safe to say that there wasn’t a single drop of disappointment from Lush Spa and the new Rewilding Facial.

I’ll be booking in for another Rewilding treatment in no time.
