As December approaches we are descending in to Christmas party territory where there seems to be a do every night of the week with the excuse of “It’s Christmas!”

As December approaches we are descending in to Christmas party territory where there seems to be a do every night of the week with the excuse of “It’s Christmas!” as the catch-all excuse.

But how do you go from office attire to night-time Christmas glamour? – With these simple tips and tricks of course!

Add fancy footwear

Switch up your normal office shoes for some fancy footwear. This simple trick can completely alter your outfit, and stiletto heels instantly add all out glamour. A pair of black heels is a classic choice and for an added touch of Christmas glitz why not go for ones with a hint of sparkle to catch the light whilst you’re dancing the night away.

If you find the heel on a stiletto too difficult to walk-in, kitten heels are having somewhat of a Renaissance moment. Choose a pointed embellished style to up the Christmas ante on an evening.

Switch your bag

Ditch your daytime office bag for a sleek clutch. Choose an embellished, tasselled or embroidered bag for a statement piece, or go for an understated jewel tone for subtle sophistication.

By simply switching your bag you’ll instantly feel ready to go out and won’t have to spend the whole night lugging around a full handbag. Make sure you choose a bag that fits the essentials in though- think phone, cards, lipstick and keys!

Change your jewellery

Change your daytime jewellery for something a bit glitzier- this simple trick will instantly transform your office attire to all out-evening glamour. Switch stud earrings for white gold diamond halo cluster earrings, for a 1920s starlet style or drop earrings set with precious gems like sapphires and rubies for the ultimate statement piece.

Cocktail rings paired with a bracelet are an effective way of transforming your office outfit to something more suited to a bar and the soft glow from the fairy lights will add a subtle shimmer to the jewellery.

But take heed from the iconic Coco Chanel when it comes to accessorising, “Before you leave the house, look in the mirror and take one thing off.”

Make your face evening ready

Day to night makeup is all about making subtle changes. Choose to highlight either your eyes or lips this festive season.

For an easy after-hours eye add a simple black winged eyeliner over a rose gold eye shadow followed by lashings of mascara to instantly make your eyes pop and get you feeling festive.

If you prefer to accentuate your lips, there’s no better time to start experimenting with colour than at Christmas. Choose a matte berry lip with a touch of sparkle for a modern take on a winter classic or opt for the classic red lip to see you through the festive season.

Remember to choose a lipstick that has added moisturising properties to stop them from becoming dry and chapped in the cold weather!

Ultimately, however you choose to change from office attire to all out glam, you need to feel comfortable in what you’re wearing, feeling comfortable will help you feel confident- and Christmassy!
