Have you ever tried to buy a mattress? If you didn’t, let us tell you something – it’s definitely not a piece of cake. When it comes to mattresses, there’s no such thing as a ‘one-fits-all’ approach – everyone sleeps differently, experiences different pains, and has different medical conditions that require them to be as comfortable as possible during the night.

This is one of the reasons why choosing the perfect mattress can be quite a hassle – after all, what one person believes to be the best purchase of their life might be a nightmare for another.

For instance, let’s say that a friend of yours decided to buy the Puffy Lux mattress – they cannot stop talking about how great it is or how much it has improved the quality of their sleep. One night you decide to stay over – you finally get to try this amazing mattress that your friend has been praising for a while. However, instead of waking up and feeling fresh, you wake up more exhausted than you were before falling asleep. It doesn’t necessarily mean that the mattress itself is bad – it just means that it’s not the right fit for you.

So does it mean that you shouldn’t take other people’s opinions into consideration and just go with your gut? Well, that’s not the case either. You should always try to get a second opinion, for example from reviews that people leave on the producer’s website or on sites allowing you to rate companies.

While you shouldn’t take a review about the specific product to heart, you should still look at them, just to get a general idea of how the company you are planning on buying from behaves with their clients, whether they actually follow their policies (for instance when it comes to refunds), and whether the customers who already purchased from this brand would recommend it to others.

The truth is that when it comes to things such as online mattress reviews or ratings, you need to take them with a pinch of salt – especially since, as studies have shown, it’s actually people who had a bad experience with a certain company that are more likely to leave a review, and not those whose experience was great.

We’ve also prepared a little bonus to help you choose the right mattress. Since we understand how hard it can be to determine whether a mattress is actually good and if the ratings and reviews are not just empty words, here is something to help you with that – the infographic below will tell you everything you need to know about different materials used when producing mattresses. Good luck!
