Oscars 2014 – Best of Beauty

Whilst us Brits were fast asleep tucked up in bed last night, all the glitz and the glamour of the 86th Oscars was commencing over in Hollywood and what a glamorous affair it was! As important as the red carpet outfits are, they wouldn’t be complete without the hair and makeup to match so here I take a look at the trends and best looks of the night, including my personal oscar winning beauty performances!

Oscar Beauty Trend – The Disappearance of the Red Lip

The classic red carpet = red lip barely featured in this years Oscars with a more delicate, natural approach to lip colour being taken. Most seen was a nude, or coral colour lipstick (note: spring season colour!) with a natural healthy gloss on top á la Angelina Jolie and Lupita Nyong’o.

Oscar Beauty Trend – Side Swept Curls

Deep side-partings and retro-style waves were the main hair trend that stood out on the red carpet last night. A flawless, classy style that shunned the clean, sleek SS14 looks seen on the catwalks for this season, some did it more classic like Cate Blanchett and her 40’s-esque waves whilst Emma Watson injected youth into the style with messy, backcombed texture.

And the Oscar Beauty Winners are ….

Margot Robbie appeared almost unrecognisable on the red carpet with her newly dyed brunette locks and vampy lips, a far cry from the bombshell blonde she’s known for in Wolf of Wall Street. Such a brave beauty decision to debut such a drastic change at a major event when most play it safe but I applaud Margot for this look, she looks classy and elegant but keeps it young with the berry lip. Well pulled off!

Jared Leto. How can we not envy this man’s luscious locks?! Although I am partial to Jared’s now infamous man bun, this wavy, tousled style he displayed at last night Oscar’s had everyone wowed! The beautifully natural dip dye, the luxurious shiny finish, everything about this look is perfection and as it should be for such a glamorous evening. Jared, myself and most of the nation’s women not only lust in adoration but now also in envy!
